Thanks. It looks like the volume is cutting itself back :) . I have reduced my exercises to just one per muscle group and sticking to compound movements. I started out with about 60# to lose. I'm trying to shed a metric tons myself. Weight fluctuates so much on the scale that I started weighing every day and recording my average. My weight loss has been pretty steady with this method even when I experience "heavy" days.

Thanks for the inputs. My goal is to reduce my BF% to 12-15 and then ramp up the calories to put on come muscle. I despise cardio so thought the 5x5 would work.

The way I understand it you need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight and a calorie surplus to build muscle. Cant be in a deficit and surplus at the same time.

Well the reason I ask is that I have been eating a deficit, doing cardio and lifting weights for 3 months. I have lost 14 pounds and 6% BF but nothing the last 3 weeks. I was thinking about raising my calories and keep hitting the weights to put on some muscle before I reach my BF% goal.

Yea. Keeping my calorie intake at a deficit while lifting heavy should help me maintain muscle and ensure that most of the weight lost is body fat.

What I have noticed is my weight fluctuates 1 to 3 pounds a day. You wont know if you are weighing on a heavy day or a light ay. I weigh same time every day and average it out.

MFP set my calories to lose 2 pounds per week at 1350. That seemed too low so I have gone to 1500. The site set my macros at 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat.
