I started my journey January 1st and have lost 12 pounds. I have not lost an ounce in 2 weeks. My shoulders and arms have shrunk and my chest has narrowed. From my ribcage up I look like a 10 year old boy. But the gut is still hanging in there. I've been lifting weights and staying in a deficit. WTF do I do now? The gut must go!!!!! Any suggestions on kick-starting things back into gear?

It's only been two weeks, weight loss is not linear. And be patient. It can take months for you to see results. You didn't put it on that quickly, right?

I wrote about this here . But basically, seeing stops and starts with weightloss is completely normal, as is seeing the weight come off faster in some areas than others. Most men have their stomach/gut as their spot where it comes off last. The only thing you can do is stick to your plan and forge ahead.

two weeks is not that long….

do you own a food scale and weigh all solid foods?

Actually Malibu927 I put weight on very quickly. I am an overeater. Food that I love I destroy. I could gain the 12 pounds I lost in about 3 weeks. I don't own a food scale but I have considered getting one.
I have also noticed my weight fluctuates about 1 to 3 pounds from day to day. I have been weighing every ay and averaging it out.

just be patient. two weeks is nothing. Keep doing what you are doing and you will see more loses.
I am the opposite, my stomach goes first, then my face....finally my bum, and legs. Other than that we have the same ability to gain weight real fast!
Good luck, add me if you wanna share in your journey

It stinks, doesn't it? Just remember that this is a process. I am to the point now where I only weigh in once a month. I've lost more inches than I ever thought I would. That is my motivation. Find a combo of exercises that you love and everything will fall into place.

You are lifting and trying to stay under your calories? You may want to reconsider that.
I agree, the plateaus do happen, but don't be discouraged! Sounds like maybe some tweaks to diet are in order.

Yea. Keeping my calorie intake at a deficit while lifting heavy should help me maintain muscle and ensure that most of the weight lost is body fat.
