  • I've been home from our vacation for almost 3 weeks and am just now approaching the weight I was before leaving. It is a long term commitment. Don't be too discouraged. It will come off again :-) Diane - Ottawa
  • Was my birthday yesterday. Thanks for the bday wishes Belinda and eyegirl777va! I was careful about my choices and ate to maintain for the day. The really cool thing is I got some clothes for my birthday and they were too BIG! Had to exchange them for a size smaller. Looking forward to losing another 5 pounds before Easter…
  • Socialwacker your plans sound good for keeping on track during your cruise. I will be going to an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean next week and am also concerned about food. I don't want to come home heavier then when I left. It will be difficult to estimate the calorie content for logging. Exercise will not be a…

  • Hello Everyone, I am down 7 pounds towards my goal of 20 before Easter. 10 weeks to go until Easter Monday. Just have to lose 1.3 lbs per week to get-er-done:-) I want to live the healthiest life I can enjoy. That means eating treats from time to time but logging it and asking myself if the treat is worth the calories…
  • Shirley - How do deal with food when you are on holidays? I will be away for a week next month and I'm a little nervous about it. I want to get my moneys worth as it is an all inclusive but I don't want to come home heavier. I would be happy to maintain. Any suggestions are welcome. Diane - Ottawa - Canada
  • I just started exercising last week when I joined a gym. So far I have done 2 yoga classes, a strength training and an aquafit class. Today I feel lethargic though and had to push myself to just walk for 30 minutes. I was told that strength training and building muscles does more for weight loss in the long run than cardio…
  • Congratulations Marie / CALIECAT on the birth of your great grandson. Diane - Ottawa
  • Diane in Ottawa: LOVE the names of your cats. Where did you take the picture boogie boarding? It’s one of my favorite things to do. Poerava 14 - Rori Thanks, the name of my cats betrays my fondness for ice cream and anything sweet:-) The picture was taken in Barbados. I love to get away from the snow and cold for a week…
  • Swimming or aquafit classes might be more tolerable for your feet. If you don't swim it is never too late to take lessons. Diane from Ottawa
  • YA! let's make that fat cry like mad and soon. The sooner the better Belinda:-) Come summer we will be so glad that we started now. Diane from Ottawa
  • I just came back from the fitness club feeling like I have a long, long way to go to become even reasonably fit. Starting out is hard but I am determined to keep going. I have to remember that sweat is fat crying.
  • That makes sense barbiecat. The focus should be on a long lasting weight loss and fitness not necessarily all about the numbers. A life style (eating and exercise plan) that we are happy to live with will produce results in the long run. "I'm not losing weight. I'm getting rid of it with no intentions of finding it".
  • Thanks CALIECAT for the welcome. My name is Diane - I meant to sign off with that. My birthday is March 1.
  • Hello I'm from Kanata, Ontario, Canada. I Started using MFP a week ago and lost 5 pounds:-) I joined a gym this week. I look forward to the day that I don't feel so sluggish working out. I just know that in a year from now I will be glad that I started now. I have about 40 pounds to lose. I haven't decided if I will target…

  • Is it better for weight loss to cut caffeine out? I drink 2 cups of tea per day. My sugar cravings are gone now after only 5 days:-)
  • This is my fifth day of logging food. I just joined a gym and look forward to building muscles while loosing fat. I feel way out of shape now but in a year from now I will be so glad that I started exercising today. So will you:-)

  • Thanks hmarini1120 and Carol_123. I'm at the feeling crappy and weak stage but am determined to stick with it. I just joined a gym so I'm putting my money where my mouth is so to speak. I'll just endure this initial phase until exercising starts to feel good.
  • I'm starting slow so I figure it will take some time.
