  • And here! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10206199/hogwarts-weight-loss-challenge#latest Hogwarts is now open to new-comers. It was just posted =)
  • Well I just joined it and I didn't do it the previous time so I'm not completely sure, but it looks like it will have goals for each section, including calorie goal, exercise goal, etc. and you need to hit those goals to get points for each section. You also have a challenge for your own group and a punishment challenge so…
  • Sorry for the late response. Harry Potter is Hogwarts I believe and I think they are starting on the 27th so they should be opening up to newcomers soon. Keep an eye on the forums and it'll pop up sometime soon. Insurgent is at:…
  • What kind of challenge? There is a "20 pounds by Thanksgiving" Challenge which runs longer than 12 weeks but it is just support and a way to record your loss each week with a group. There is also the "Insurgent" Challenge (of the Divergent series) that is 10 weeks I believe and starts soon but that gives exercise goals as…
  • Hi, I'm Samantha. I was also in the 20 pounds by the Fourth of July challenge and I lost 19.2 pounds so I can't wait to actually hit the goal this time since I was so close! I am aiming for a bit more though since this is a longer challenge. I am a married mother of three, ages 5, 2, and 6 months. I am also a full time…

  • Hi! I'm Samantha and I would like to join as well. =)
  • You could always see how it goes for a while and if you are losing too fast switch it back. I have mine set at sedentary because I don't work but I'm a full time student and a mother of three. MFP says I burn about 1700 a day but my FitBit Surge usually says 2200-2700 calories depending on my day so I am probably not…

  • This. You can also change the daily goal number to something higher if you would like instead. It's on the app under account and then daily goals.
  • I'm 23 and I have 70 pounds to lose. I have lost a little more than 20 pounds already. =) You can add me!
  • I usually just create the recipe on my account and then create a food on my husband's account by using the nutritional facts from my recipe, but that seems much easier!

  • You can add me! =) I'm 5'4 and my heaviest was around 250 and I started MFP a little over 230. I am currently at 212 but I still have a long way to go. I am aiming for around 140 because I won't be healthy BMI until 147 but I will see when I get there. I have not dealt with the same issues you have gone through in the past…
  • I'm Samantha, I'm 23, and I am also a mom. I have a 5 year old son and two daughters, 22 months and 5 months. I also am a full time student majoring in Nursing and Spanish, although I may drop to part time this semester because my schedule will have me at school until 5:00 pm on three nights and 7:00 pm on the two others…
  • You could post it on MFP for the correct time so it will cancel out the extra calories on FitBit from that time, but I've heard people with FitBits say it's easier for them to just post a status update saying what you burned so people know you did it. I don't write it as a status update or add it to MFP so I look like I…
  • 13.5! When I started at 250 I wasn't sure I would ever make it to onederland, but im getting close! Good luck to everyone else!!
  • I need to try stepping on mine with a weight. I have a WW one too and mine fluctuates by 2-4 pounds when I step on it five times within seconds of each other. I wouldn't mind daily fluctuations because I know they are normal, but I did not lose 2.3 pounds in five seconds, gain 3.5 pounds in another five seconds, and lose…

  • Sorry, double post!
  • I would love to join this challenge! I'm in a 20 pound challenge but it ends earlier than this so I would like to join this one too. I love challenges lol. I'll find it in the group section. =)
  • This is interesting and I need to look into it more. I've gone to the hospital twice for SVT episodes but they just hooked me up to the heart monitor, gave me a glass of water, and told me to sit there until it stopped on its own. That's why I've tried to figure out ways to stop the attack on my own. My doctor said if it…
  • I've had SVT since pregnant with my first child 5.5 years ago. I don't take medication for it though nor has my doctor said anything about surgery but my doctor has also said not all SVT is the same. How often are your episodes and how does it effect you? For me, my heart rate raises to 207-213 immediately during an attack…
  • You are a much stronger person than I am. This happened to me once when I started the C25K. My biggest fear was that I was going to get made fun of but everyone assured me it wouldn't happen since it was a runner's track and people are only there for fitness. Well I was doing it at the track and I had a group of guys…
  • Your FitBit isn't just measuring steps though, it's measuring activity. 100 steps running up the stairs will burn more calories than 100 steps during a slow 2.0 mph stroll on level ground. You also may be burning calories without taking steps if you're doing a workout or other exercises. Also, if your activity level is set…
  • I just started doing kickboxing and I love it. I want to start doing it as my main exercise too. Does anyone know of any good kickboxing videos online or specific trainers?

  • Did you previously have another device or app counting your steps? I originally had my iPhone sending my steps to MFP so when I connected my FitBit, I had to change the source of steps from my phone to the FitBit. It's on the app under steps on the same page where you get to the community. Sorry it's not more specific.…
  • Honestly, you don't have to put it into any mode because it will count the calories regardless if it is in an exercise mode or not. That is only really convenience for you to see specifically how many calories you burned for that workout and how long it took, or the steps and miles for walking/running. There is a mode for:…
  • I went through the same thing with my grandmother. Basically my advice was do the opposite of what you would do if you were trying to lose weight. Make meals with whole milk instead of a lower calorie milk, use real butter, adding peanut butter is great. I also suggested adding protein powder to my grandmother's food but…
