I'm glad you've never heard of it! I am a born and raised Seattle girl but I went to college in Spokane, grad school in Phoenix, and lived in Zambia. I didn't notice the Seattle Freeze until leaving and coming back. People are nice, but getting past pleasantries can be difficult. Definitely more difficult than when I lived…
-
Well there are definitely more people. I've met plenty of guys, have gone on dates, just nothing long term yet.
-
I live in Seattle and no luck (but I know there are options in this big city). All of my friends say its because of the "Seattle freeze"...

I use Redken! I also don't wash my hair every day. I wash it every 3-ish days and use dry shampoo after runs/sweaty lifting sessions on the other days. I also try to use hats/headbands as often as possible to absorb sweat so I only have to really worry about my hair line.

If you are a decided blonde you should try a purple shampoo. I've added blonde to my hair and that's the first thing my cousin/hair dresser said to go pick up.

Question... what do you even eat on a 0 carb diet? Totally serious. EVERYTHING YUMMY HAS CARBS! I think there is also a different between "don't want to do it" and "don't NEED to do it". Low-carb is not necessary for everyone. For example, friends with refractory epilepsy, it has worked well for some and not…
-
^^ Yes. There are broscience approaches to low-carb but when applied and monitored correctly it works for a subset of people. You said it so eloquently!
-
Well okay then.... wow. I never said it was scary, never said anyone was wrong, literally used the word "confused". We don't do that at our hospital or clinics and I have never heard of a 0 carb diet as a prescription from a doctor. I know you are upset with someone but I don't think its me.
-
Well doctors don't actually prescribe a diet eliminating carbs. The ketogenic diet (if that is still what you are referring to) is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. I think thats where I got confused, the words "eliminate" and "low" are two very different things when it comes to diet and nutrition. Also, ketogenic diets…

So question... we have three macros (carbs, protein, fat). If "lots of people eliminate carbs" does that mean eliminating protein wouldn't qualify as "Broscience" either? What about fat? I am ABSOLUTELY NOT arguing with you! I eat carbs because I'm a runner, love my macros, and think they provide essential fuel when…

Has anyone heard of this before? Nightshade vegetables worsening ailments and pain?! A friend sent me this today... http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/nightshade-vegetables-can-worsen-pain/

I have Celiac disease. One of my coworkers told me I just haven't been "exposed enough to gluten and wheat" so I should just "eat as much as I can so my body can get used to it." I didn't even know how to respond so I literally just stared at her and walked away...

A lot of my vegan friends love tofu scrambles and I already know I enjoy tofu! Any good recipes you recommend instead of me aimlessly searching online?

I want to make sure I'm replacing the protein I was getting from the eggs

I'm allergic to the yolk and the whites :disappointed:

That is a solid point. Chicken isn't commonly thought of as a "breakfast meat" but would be great with some potatoes and veggies.

I was on the pill for years but wanted something more long-term. I was newly out of a long-term relationship, young, and having some fun but wanted to be safe. I ended up getting a Mirena IUD and love it. After a couple months I stopped having a period. I have similar, light symptoms like tender breasts and food cravings…

Really? Try being almost 6' and having a 35.5" inseam... yes that's an extra-long in jeans!

I've have burned over my allotted daily calorie intake before. I ran a half marathon and based on my Nike+ Sportswatch and my HRM I burned well over 1,450 calories (which is how much I eat each day). However, I don't plan on running a half marathon every day, it is possible to burn 1000+ calories.

5' 11.5" .... wish I had that extra half inch but I always just say 6' anyway

I used to work out with a personal trainer in a small gym in AZ. The first time I puked he patted me on the back and said, "I bet you're glad you are not at a Golds right now!" I couldn't help but laugh because he was right haha

This is horrible but there are a lot of younger men at my gym (around my age) and when I do squats I usually think, "Yeah, you see that booty. That's a nice booty. Look at how strong that booty is." Any free weight lifts usually consist of, "Two chicks over here and I'm one of them. Hell yes, that's right, bad*** chick.…

Thanks! I ran the whole time! Very proud of myself. I think light exercise is a good way to describe it and definitely something I could handle today. I don't plan on going back to my training until Monday (I'm going to take this weekend off from my long run for a volleyball tournament).
-
Well I ran Sunday. Monday I went to the gym to stretch and "fight" with the foam roller  and Tuesday I took a real rest day and did nothing. I think swimming would be a good option since I am still sore and don't want to push myself too hard since this is a first for me.
-
I have a similar question! I ran my first half marathon on Sunday (yay!). Most training plans/running books tell you to take time off after a race but I'm anxious to get back into the gym today. What do you guys think? My quads are definitely still sore (slow to pick things up, walk down stairs, etc) but I'm not broken. I…

I didn't meet up with @aam117 but I did go for a hike with my friend. It was fun but I think I almost killed her  haha As for my half marathon it was great! When I finished my legs were exhausted but my breathing wasn't labored and I could have run a couple more miles. My body completely surprised me. I ran the…

I am in my work clothes... I would rather have no pants on. Home is where the pants aren't!
