Incredibly, there are whole websites built around the color of urine. http://dripdrop.com/chart-dehydrated/

My Calphalon woks and pans chipped and became pretty disgusting. I got them from Target, so I don't know if there are different levels of quality at places like Williams Sonoma, but wow, what a mess, even with nonstick utensils. I now get the Good Cook inexpensive ones (from the grocery store, GASP!) and their nonstick…

Your thighs aren't huge. Come over here, I'll show you some huge thighs. Anyway, I once lost 50 pounds, got to my goal weight, and the last thing to show a big loss were my thighs. Even my butt responded before my thighs did, and even at my goal weight, they were larger than I'd have liked.

Too much sugar over a long period of time can easily lead to diabetes, but the people you describe are taking things to a bizarre extreme, especially by restricting fruits. I can understand how they'd want to avoid giving their kids a lot of added sugar, but that isn't the same thing as sugars found in unprocessed foods.…

I wouldn't buy any product from a company that kept putting ephedra in it long after everyone knew ephedra was dangerous. The FDA made them recall it and then they introduced a reformulated product. I don't see any special magic ingredients in it either, and they still stress that it needs to be used in conjunction with a…

I'm going to buy some quinoa, although I was a bit set back by the price. It is lower in carbs and has a lower glycemic load (18) than white rice (24). I need to watch that for medical reasons.

This is science, from a Google Scholar search. This is a summary of a peer-reviewed research paper. Intense Sweetness Surpasses Cocaine Reward journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0000698http:// From the conclusion (bold italics added by me): "Our findings clearly demonstrate that intense sweetness can…

I've been growing in straw bales the last several years. That way, we can have the veggies anywhere we like and don't have to prepare the soil, which in our area, always requires a lot of additional compost.

A cup of heavy cream? Seriously? Surely there has to be a substitute. I never even cooked with heavy cream when I wasn't dieting.

I only use packaged Stevia in yogurt with fruit, or in iced tea, and it doesn't have an aftertaste for me. But wow, I grew the stevia plant one year in my herb garden. A crushed stem of stevia is supposed to sweeten a cup of tea, they say. I thought the flavor was terrible. I ripped up the plant and bought the processed…

Wow! I'll bet you have to reintroduce yourself to everyone you haven't seen in a year! That's amazing, congratulations!

Jahmanrv, I know what you mean. My sugar cravings are gone too, a good thing since I'm almost certainly diabetic now (will have the big test in two weeks). I was taking so much Nexxium before, too! The heartburn and acid reflux were nightly occurrences and would wake me up every night. My lower back hurt whenever I bent…

The OP said in her original question that it was only hypothetical. She isn't thinking of having 1400 calories worth of an alcoholic drink. She wants to know if there would be a metabolic difference between consuming just alcohol or just food. I don't know, but I do think the nutritional aspect is very important. I rarely…

This is the correct answer.

I'm never in favor of people going to any public place they don't have to if they have a cold or flu. But more importantly, your body is telling you to give it a break. Rest is great medicine.

I know exactly how you feel. I slimmed down to 135 (at 5'6) from 190 in 1988 and I became so sick and tired of all the comments, all I wanted to do was go places where no one knew me so my weight wouldn't be a topic of conversation. Sometimes the "comments" weren't comments at all. I would get groped, in public, by…

Yes, there is a huge difference in how I feel every day, and not just because I'm losing weight. I felt it the second day and realized I just had better fuel in my tank.

I started what I think is a sensible plan calculated for me on MFP on January 13, and I've lost almost 17 pounds. No fasting, no cleanse products. I eat. The only time you need to thoroughly cleanse your system is the day before a colonoscopy, and I can't even imagine going thorough that once a week.

^^^ Yep. I'm Italian, and I've never heard of making a sauce or gravy with tomato paste alone.

Thanks, Glinda, nice to hear some sense! I'm one of those people who eats a Big Mac and immediately wants another one. Moderation? What's that? Maybe one day I'll be able to handle the indulgences, but now that I'm dealing with a blood sugar issue, that's another reason to eat as cleanly as I can. I really need to know…

So it doesn't really matter what she's eating as long as she's within her calorie total? Sorry, but any diet that's so lacking in fresh fruits and vegetables isn't very nutritious.

I first lose in my face too, but I seem to notice that I lose first where I gained last. So yeah, my face shows it, and my feet, of all things. I chalk that up to water loss. This time, my gut, which was something I had never had trouble with before, has improved noticeably in the first 16 pounds. But oh, the chins. I only…

I had a peek at about 2 weeks of your diary. I have some suggestions. It isn't just about the food scale. It's about what would be getting weighed. Add some fresh fruits and vegetables. You are sorely lacking in those. One one occasion you have nearly 800 in calories in snacks for the day, which included avocado, tortilla…

Ratatouille is one of the most famous and best-loved eggplant dishes in the world. It's very much like what some people are describing here. My mom used to make this all the time and bake it, adding a layer of chedder on top in the last 10 minutes. foodnetwork.com/recipes/ratatouille-recipe0.htmlhttp://

You got upset that you got the automated red warning? I've had that too. I had it the second and third days I was using the app when I had the flu and was never awake long enough to eat or drink. On the fourth day, I got up and 5am to let the dogs out, felt very odd, very woozy and unstable, and I fainted and hit the floor…

Thanks. Wow, that's a huge omission from the site features.

I know, right?! I bought two silicone spatulas at Williams Sonoma couple years ago. I never thought I could become so attached to spatulas! :D

Wow, I had forgotten about the need to change out the oil. I know people often put it down the drain, but that's not good for municipal sewer systems. Cities in our county ask homeowners to save it and bring to a dropoff center. We are on septic here, and putting oil down our drain is absolutely forbidden if we don't want…

Some calories come from foods that don't really do us much good and can negatively impact our health: spike our blood sugar, clog our arteries, raise blood pressure, etc. If I eat a piece of Edwards cream pie that's 400 calories, those calories aren't going to do anything positive for my health. That pie contains miniscule…

My husband is from Glasgow and had enough fried bread and haddock to last a lifetime before he moved to England and then America 26 years ago. Fried foods and beer = ulcers that took forever and a surgery to heal. Now he has neither. He's a dream to cook for.
