Name: MELISSA Age: 30 (That's the first time I've written that since it happened on June 15th. It feels...WEIRD!!) Height: 5' 7" Start Weight (1st July): 200.0 Goal Weight (1st August):190.0 (I'm going "drastic" because it's that TOM & I ate a ton of sodium yesterday, and I think my "true" weight is about 3lbs lower than…

I'm a tapper and a jazzer ... but also was a ballet dancer from age 5-21. While being "chubby" is like weighing 450lbs in the dance world, and it did lead me into my psycho-spirals with e.d., dance is still my #1 love. I don't "eat clean" or "detox" anymore though...the obsessions got me right back into the e.d. cycle. MFP…

You're wearing a sleeveless top in your profile picture, and it looks great! OP...I have gigantic arms & they are shaped really weird; people are always asking me why I have big bruises on my arms. They aren't bruises; they're shadows from the random fat bulge. Even when I was thin and ripped, my arms were still bigger…

So, you leave your house at like 5am, and don't get home until at least 1am the next day? Side note: On top of everything else the posters above have suggested, don't forget about how important sleep is for overall health. This schedule sounds terribly exhausting!

I went to quote you and ask you what the starred-out word was, just out of curiosity. It wasn't blocked out when I went to quote it, so now it know it said something that sounds like "schmidt's" ... So, your "schmidt's looser." I'm hoping you meant your clothes, lol

ps...to answer your actual question, OP, I find group exercise classes to be the best, and most fun. Zumba, Piloxing, PiYo, TRX, Yoga, Spinning. Try them out, and stick with what you like :) Having fun while exercising is the key to sticking to it. I look forward to my workouts and they really are a huge stress-reliever.

No. This girl should not be warned that she could gain weight by eating 700 calories a day. This kind of misinformation is what kept my eating disorder cycle alive for many years. OP, you will not go into starvation mode and "hang onto everything you eat." I believed for so long that I had "killed my metabolism" and was…

What you meant to say, I'm sure, was that you lost weight by..."purely cutting calories to put me in a caloric deficit" ... because that's what you did. You just chose to do it by "cutting out" some foods entirely to get you in that deficit. This isn't sustainable or enjoyable for most people, so I'm making this comment so…

Right. That's my point. It took me a long time before I started believing all of you and getting my facts straight and weeding out all of the B.S. I'd been taught and whole-heartedly believed for years. I actually was told by a trainer that I had "destroyed my metabolism" and that it can take up to a year to get out of…

lol ... I was reading all the hundreds of 'bumps' and 'thank yous' just HOPING one of you regulars had jumped in somewhere along the way to stop the madness. All those people fed into that nonsense :(
-
OK, so I'm not crazy, right? That post has 20 pages of "thank yous" and "this is amazing" and barely anything else ... which is REALLY unlike a post like that.
-
@asflatasapancake ... I'm confused. lol. What?!
-
and then this later on by the OP... The first week, I lost the slight 3 lb gain I had when I was eating at a deficit - despite eating below 1200 when I was "unschooled" my body kept and retained even the plant based food - it was hungry! But after that bump to 1680, I lost those 3 lbs PLUS another 1 lb at that weigh in i'm…

So, in order to keep you living and breathing, again, body NOT caring about weight loss, the body will slow or stop some other systems (metabolism being the 1st it stops) and hang on to those 1200 calories b/c all it knows is that you are under-feeding it and so it must "hoard" that 1200, store it as fat and keep you…

I usually weigh in grams and put "usda" after my search (For example, search, "Boneless skinless chicken breasts USDA") ... there are still variations, but I look through to see which ones have member confirmations, or I compare different ones. Like, if a few entries say 150 calories, a couple say 155 calories, one says…

I can fluctuate 8lbs in a day, lol. Give it time. Do what you're doing. Relax. Weight loss isn't linear. Congrats on your weight loss so far!
-
fantastic post :) as always!
-
buuuuut now I see that you are eating 1,000-1,200 calories per day. I still say you are either underestimating calories in, overestimating calories out, or both.
-
You are probably not in a true deficit, as others have said. I was doing it all wrong for awhile. I workout 5 days a week on average, so I originally had entered my activity level as "very active" ... AND I was still entering exercise calories and eating them back. Plus, MFP is notorious for SEVERELY overestimating…
-
Not...brand names...ahhhh lol
-
Oh my. No. Dude...by "generic," he means logging like "baked potato, 1 large" instead of weighing it & entering "baked potato, 104 grams"
-
I agree and read everything you post ndj1979... but...juuust as a side note: i enter my recipes to the gram & then name them like "homemade soup" & enter it as one serving...and have gotten slammed by people assuming I just searched it on mfp & entered a generic thing... so I guess ya never know lol.
-
PS congrats on your awesome success thus far!
-
Recalculate your calorie goals & tighten up on your logging (weigh as much of your foods as possible) :)
-
Congrats!!!! You look fantastic!!!

(I've had past struggles with an eating disorder) my dad: "You look like you're losing weight again. Are you doing that puking bull****? You better not be. You seem to only lose weight when you're doing that **it." OK, so ... I look good? Thanks dad. lol.
-
I eat what I like in moderation, and within my calorie goals. Exercise: Zumba 1-2 times/week, weightlifting/strength HIIT 1-2 times/week, spinning once/week, and some weekends I manage to fit in piyo and/or Piloxing. I'm also a tap & jazzer, lol, and I walk on my lunch break at work whenever I can. I also keep active with…
