  • I'm not judging people finding the way that works for them, I just don't like bad science. It's also impossible to overstate the impact individual psychology and belief systems impact people's eating habits. If people are cycling junk food and carbs and getting results, I'm happy for them. However, it's 97-99% likely that…
  • Great sport begins where good health ends. - John Hoberman in this book: https://www.amazon.com/Mortal-Engines-Science-Performance-Dehumanization/dp/1930665377 I'm reminded of what people performing at the highest rungs were doing 30 years ago...also, it's risky to adopt the nutrition or exercise regimen of…
  • The idea that calories don't matter is so much nonsense. Too little over an extended period of time, regardless of composition, compromises health and well-being. Too many over an extended period of time, regardless of composition, compromises health and well-being. How to define too much or too little? We are all an…
  • They're rationalizing by claiming some nonsense need to do a regular 'refeed'. That drive to rationalize comes either from their addiction or their struggle with not being seen as 'normal' either by themselves or others. Sorry to be so blunt but it's just so much nonsense.
  • Not possible.
  • Haha no. Emergency food only. It's like a rectangular pork hot dog.

  • That thing is unbelievable. Can you imagine progression raiding with that thing? Holy smoke...no more fat gamers, ever!
  • I loved AD&D back in the day, too. Still have a lot of friends in WoW and Legion looks pretty good, so it's tempting to make the time... Total derail of this thread, sorry! o:)
  • Carrying the Endurolytes caps is quite easy. A small Ziploc bag weighs nothing and will keep the caps safe from sweat in a shorts or jersey pocket. Experiment a bit but most people won't need more than one per hour unless it's crazy hot and humid - so for a half you wouldn't need more than three caps for the whole race,…
  • And it's gluten free!
  • Not a Skyrim player, but did the whole Everquest ---> World of Warcraft thing. I still dabble, but don't have the time to play hardcore. It's also one of the reasons I gained so much weight, so there's that. Just need a shield to go with it: https://www.onnit.com/onnit-steel-mace/ I'm serious considering getting one or two…
  • Why do you hate it? Is it how it makes you feel? The pressure to look like the people in the videos? Something else? Resistance training isn't just about losing weight, it's about maintaining quality of life, good health, mobility, and vitality. The muscle wasting that comes with age and being sedentary takes all that…
  • @RunRachelleRun You might be able to go back to running your half on just water by taking electrolyte capsules. I used to get stomach issues during races from drinks with simple sugars, so did some research and found these: http://www.hammernutrition.com/products/endurolytes.elt.html Capsule form, no mixing, no taste, work…
  • Most addicts are. I admire you for continuing to support him/them for as long as you have.
  • I've been listening to 'The Thin Woman's Brain' on Audible. Fascinating and enlightening read that could serve your friend well. @LauraCoth
  • I used to be really fit - I floated up hills in 100 mile mountain bike races, lifted respectable weights in the weight room, and could effortlessly backpack all the trails. Then I got complacent. 15 years and 60 pounds (now 43) later I woke up and all I could think was, "What the *kitten* did I do to myself?". I want my…
  • Agree with everyone above - avoid fake food like the plague and don't use MFP's calorie recommendation. Get a DEXA scan and RMR if you can and base your intake on those. Also, exercise! Especially resistance exercise if you don't have any limitations.
  • As part of my research I've read that for long term health as a full carnivore you need to regularly include organs and glands in your diet to get everything you need without supplements. Haven't tried it out yet though.
  • That's outside of Crested Butte, Colorado on the 401 Trail.
  • I don't like having to mix things, personally, so I am as close to 100 pill driven as possible. I take my supplements in divided doses with each meal. Much more portable that way, too.
  • Looking forward to hearing how it sticks with you as a meal replacement. Sounds incredible as a recovery drink!
  • I use Humapro tablets when I'm not in the mood to eat a lot of meat. They go great with BPC, too.
  • 5 net carbs, ingredients look clean...I don't see any red flags there. I say give it a shot! Will that really replace all your other pills?
  • If the hunger you are describing is actual hunger and not brain hunger or emotionally driven you're probably fine staying the course. That said, start exercising! Unless you have an issue that prevents all activity, exercise is third behind sleep and avoiding starchy carbs and sugar for optimal health and a high quality of…
  • If you lift heavy enough you can hit each muscle once a week and not lose anything. You might even gain, depending on how much cycling you're doing and how many calories you're eating.
  • Go with the least possible cushion for Crossfit or any other weightlifting activity. The lack of stability while lifting in a cushy running shoe is a bit dangerous - like lifting while standing on jello. Five fingers are ideal, as are the least cushy Merrell Glove models mentioned above.
  • You do qualify as low carb. A few questions to start the troubleshooting: At 1400 calories and 40 grams of carbs you're at about 11% of your calories from carbs. What are your other macros? Are you active? Sedentary? Recomping (losing inches but not pounds, this is very important)? Do you know your lean body mass (we can…
