You're inspiring me :). Thank you. We are also the same age :). Congrats on your success so far

^^^^ good advice

Try to look at this as a long term lifestyle change. If you're looking for friends in your age range, make a post about it with the age in the subject line. I'm certain there are all kinds of MFP members in your age range who are active and could provide you mutual support. Good luck :)

I've seen this ^^^. But if your calories are very low (due to height, weight, age and sedentary activity level) I've seen people who consider 50-75 g's as low carb. One friend who does very low carb, eats under 25 g; but as veggies and things have carbs too, for me that would be way too difficult. FYI

Severe hypoglycemia contributed to mine too. The specialist would likely do various tests to rule out other problems. FYI ... I tried to edit the other but it wouldn't work, so I added my extra comment here. Hope you feel better soon.

Ditto what others said about getting more info from your dr and asking for a referral to a specialist. Maybe your sodium level is very low? Are there certain things that seem to trigger the dizziness? For me, getting up too fast or bending over and getting myself upright too fast again can trigger it. I saw a specialist,…

Well said :)

Thank you :)

Would you please mind sharing your recipe for chickpea stew? Thanks :)

I love this thread :). I get so many great ideas from everyone. Thanks so much :)

Never give up. It will only make your quality of life worse. Hope you feel better soon :)

Coconut cashew (I'm allergic to cocoa, and this is my fav that doesn't have any cocoa).

Scholastic in Canada has the softcover and hardcover books available through the school system (random ones at random times ...). I've ordered them for my son that way. FYI.

Ditto what Wheelhouse15 and Bellabonbons said. 14 years ago, i had a similar situation as you have now and it was a combination of being depressed (and the side effect of meds and just not being hungry) AND hyperthyroidism (in my case it was Graves' disease). I would talk to your doctor and get some things ruled out and…

Maybe ask your psychiatrist to do a hormone panel, and other general bloodwork, especially where your family dr isn't doing it. Deficiencies or excess amounts of anything in our system can mess us up (not just talking about general weight loss and body building goals). I would think your psychiatrist would agree to do the…

Thanks :)

I looked at the last 4 days and your sodium is above your goal. Maybe try to cut it down a bit and drink more water, and see if you have some results. Take care :)
-
Ditto :). I agree 100%

^^^ this x 100% :). I'm 47 though ... lol

Prunes are helpful and recently my mum started chemo and she ran into a problem and Senakot S was recommended. She's using both prunes and the Senakot S and she's regular now. Hope you are feeling better soon :)

My son would die, as all dairy products close off his airway ... That's just one of his allergies ... I'm glad your family doesn't have any life threatening allergies :)
-
Maybe undergarments that help tighten things up a bit might help too ... Best wishes :)

I haven't started yet and think I may only be able to do "lower carb" versus low carb; but if you're interested, send me a FR :). Congrats on your loss so far :). My understanding of low carb or lower carb is that it has to be a way of life for it to work; but ultimately it would be worth it, especially if it benefits our…

Yes. Sometimes three different meals if I am preparing meals for my parents, myself and my son. Lol. Kind of used to it by now. There are usually some crossovers; but there are always separate things for all due to allergies, intolerances and dietary choices. :)

Yup ... I'm going to be a "closet" low carber once I start because some of my friends are ones who argue it is a bad thing; but from what I have read, it should help my immune issues ... So, for me it's worth trying ... but I don't have the energy to deal with defending my decision ... Take care :)

You could look at your calories for the week and save some calories on other days, so ultimately you don't go over your daily allowance. You could also always make-up calories after the fact on following days; but I find it's easier to save them up beforehand. Take care :)

Can you speak with a high risk OB? I did and it put my mind at ease. Take care :)

Hi, I'm Elizabeth. I just joined the group in January, so I can learn how to "do" low carb and then apply it to my lifestyle. I don't have a thyroid that functions, and have severe hypoglycemia and other health issues. I read that low carb is supposed to help, particularly with weight loss and my thyroid issues. I may have…

Great idea. I have to watch my sodium intake also. Thanks :). Please send me a FR, as I can't figure out how to send you one using the app. (I click on your name but it doesn't take me to your profile). Thanks :)
