  • We all have slips. They just slow the weight loss down, but they don't have to derail the whole process. Detach from the emotions; let yourself feel them, but also look at them and identify then. If you feel guilty, that's just a feeling. You don't have to make yourself feel bad because you feel bad! That way lies…
  • I cycle and walk at least 2 hours total a day, and mostly I don't eat all the calories that I burn during the exercise. I try to stay about 300 a day under. It's working for me. I've lost 8 kg (about 18 pounds) since mid-January. Feels good, too.
  • I started with breakfast - poached egg on wholegrain bread - with fruit and plain but mild tasting yogurt. Lunch multigrain crackers with cottage cheese, tomato, lettuce, an orange. Filling myself up early in the day with healthy foods is my key. I know if I deny myself, say "No you can't ever" I'm just setting myself up…

  • Greek salad. A huge helping for lunch, only 208 calories. Yum! Olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, green capsicum and mesclun greens. Life really doesn't get much more delicious than that.
  • The calorie intake the site gives you is before doing ANY exercise. Log every workout. Any exercise adds to the calories you can still eat - see the bottom of the food diary page before and after logging a gym workout. You get to eat more! This is how I use the site for planning. E.g., I know I want to have a dinner with…
  • Yes, it really helps to plan. Sometimes I find I need to exercise a little longer so I can eat what's planned for a meal; sometimes I need to adjust the menu a little. It's MUCH better than ending up disappointed at the end of the day! Staying on track and achieving goals keeps me motivated, disappointment kills my…
  • I had to do it gradually - very, very gradually - otherwise I just ended up right back where I started. YOU are the only person who knows what works for you - are you better a bit at a time, or cold turkey? I started by cutting out one kind of sugar at a time, candy went first, then cakes and sweet biscuits, all sugary…
