My husband's family eats family style with all the food on the table. That's the total worst for me!!! When they come to town to visit, his parents seem annoyed that we leave the food in the kitchen. His family is all overweight and doesnt really do anything about it. He's the anomaly, growing up with food all on the…

Oh yes, i have been known to be a vacuum for my kid's food as well...it's definitely a psychological habit as opposed to real hunger. You hit the nail on the head with that one.

Wow, thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to write such a helpful response! You would think with an almost 4 year old child, i would be busy enough after dinner! I love the calorie trade off idea. I do that a lot when out to eat...wine or dessert, or hamburger bun or fries, etc. Once it stays light later, i…

Thanks, y'all! I eat dinner leftovers the next day for lunch. My husband and I usually cook 4 servings for dinner. What happens is we usually eat 1.5 servings at dinner each and then I have my 1 serving for lunch the next day. Sometimes he only eats 1 serving and I still want to go back for my 1/2 portion after. He has…

I was able to do back and biceps today and then walked a mile and a half after and felt pretty good! Not my usual jog but at least I got something done!

Thanks! I will try reasonably anything at this point! I do have a lacrosse ball and will lay on it next! My warm ups have only been warm up sets of the exercise and I was neglecting the foam roller, so maybe that's it

Doing that stretch as we speak! Thanks so much! I was trying to do this on my own this time to save money. Worked with a trainer for 5 months twice a week 3 years ago. I did body weight and dumbbell circuits for 10 weeks prior to starting a weight lifting routine. I have never done progressive overload weight lifting…

I have done 2 whole 30's ( and a few smaller resets) and have had great results, but for me, i think it's because i was eating less calories, not necessarily bc of the actual food choices made. My issue, which is actually great, is that i don't have any major sensitivities. So post whole 30, i found i was in more of a yo…

I have had hashimoto's since 2008, so i feel your pain! First thing is i would try to be patient with your self to get your meds to the correct level. I learned a long time ago that if my meds are off, i shouldn't even try to lose weight, it just wouldn't work. Once the meds are right and you are feeling better, then you…

My ultimate goal at this juncture, is to lose body fat. I read that eating at a deficit, while getting enough protein, and lifting weights (and some cardio after, like you said), is the best way to lose the body fat, while keeping your muscle, or maybe adding just a touch more. I think I may just need to adjust my…

Hello everyone! I initially lost all the baby weight for my little guy within a year and a half after he was born, since then, the scale has crept up 15 pounds (mostly due to fertility drugs for number 2, then having a few "fun" months after deciding to not try anymore for number 2). So now i am back trying to lose those…

That makes total sense. I get this fear every time i squat that i won't be able to get back up! Maybe once i get more used to it and have more confidence in what i am doing, i will be able to add to the squat rack more!

Hey! I am eating about 1800-1900 calories 5 days a week, and closer to 2000-2100 (sometimes more) on the weekend. According to IIFYM my TDEE is 2360. I don't eat any exercise calories back since i am doing the TDEE method. Prior to that, i was eating more, but not really losing weight. Now that I lowered it a bit, i have…

Bought Natural Force Grass Fed Whey on amazon. Both the Chocolate and Vanilla are very tasty. It's pricey, but so far i like the flavor the best. For 1 scoop Vanilla - 130 calories Fat: 2g Carbs: 4g Protein: 24 g

Yes! I just finished week 2 on my program and already have added. Although, the first week i was trying to stay very conservative to just make sure i am using correct form. Still doing that for a while on squats and deadlifts, don't want to hurt myself! I am thinking i am pretty weak too, but you have to start somewhere,…

That's awesome! I am on week 2 of Thinner, Leaner, Stronger, which sounds pretty similar as far as the workouts go. I started low, but have already been able to move up on weight on a couple of things! Can't wait to be where you are, at a month in!

I was about to write a similar post! I have been doing stuff similar to insanity for 9 weeks, then my right knee started bugging me. So this week I switched to a weightlifting program and lower impact cardio and now my left foot is killing me. Top of my foot and under my arch a bit. I have a metal plate in that ankle but…

Yes that's what it is. Seems better than a plain smith machine but worse than just a regular rack. There is a free barbell on the ground so I can use that for deadlifts, but that machine my only barbell squat option at this gym. Blahhh. I used it today and it was fine I guess.
-
I will try to take a picture today when I go and report back!
-
Yes I do think you can unhook the barbell if you want. I am going to ask an employee to show me how to correctly use it to avoid all confusion! Probably will have them show me a dead lift too! Thanks for the tip!

Oh yes, i just re-looked at it. That makes more sense, 90% of heavy weight. For TLS it's if you get to 10 reps you add weight. So today, i found out i could lift more than i thought and added weight on each set for the flat barbell press. Luckily this little dinky gym does have 2.5 lb and 5 lb plates! Thanks! 1 year until…

Jenny, if i can't get a good squat from the weird squat rack, i will definitely try the goblet squats. I saw a guy with 50 lb dumbbells so I am guessing I will be ok for a while! Thanks!
-
Yeah, i don't know what it's called. It's not a smith machine as googled. It's like a big cage where you can take the barbell off of the rack and walk forward/backward to both ends of the cage, but over top it's still connected. So you can move forward and backward however you want, but i guess you can't drop the weight…

Thanks for responding! the warm up is 1 set at 50%, 12 reps, 1 set at 50%, 10 reps a little faster, 1 set at 70%, 4 reps, and 1 set at 90%, 1 rep. I am thinking I will use the bar on the floor for the deadlifts. I will ask about the bumper plates! I also don't have small calves and skipped them today, was just curious in…

I am on day 15 of my first Whole30. Doing great so far. I was a naysayer originally because I thought it would be impossible to banish certain foods, and I have been living in a regimented counting and measure world. The idea of eating more fat and not counting calories kind of scared me. But, seeing my mom and sister's…

So far so good. I am on day 10 and I am going strong. I felt crappy the first two days with stomach problems. but since then I have had a lot more energy and have lost 5 lbs. I know we are not supposed to weigh but i had a physical so i got to see. Surprisingly, i haven't had any cravings yet, but i have had some weird…

hi all, i am on day 9, started August 3, and feel great! I had a few rough days at the beginning with stomach pains but it's all sorted out (almonds did it i think), and I have lots of energy and am actually enjoying the meals. I have an 18 month old and had lost 20ish lbs of baby weight since January, but sort of stalled…

I have been alcohol free since August 3, as part of my Whole30. Feeling really well, although I did dream about ordering wine at a bar last night and they were all out and I was sad...haha!

I am on day 9 and feel great. Performed well during my normal jogging and spin classes. If you are feeling fatigued, you could try adding a little more carbs to your meals, add in a sweet potato or something. After my sister and mom had so much success on the plan, I had to give in and try, and I am really glad so far that…
