  • I'm pre-diabetic. Have changed my diet & become more active than I was. Good for you in making your own changes. It's hard at first but gets better.
  • Have sleep apnea & use CPAP machine. It does take a little while to get used to the machine. I do sleep a lot better & feel rested. I'm trying to lose weight & maybe not need to use the CPAP. At my last check up the doctor said I don't stop breathing with the CPAP anymore since I've lost weight. I need to lose more &…
  • Thanks for the review. I got an email saying that I might want to buy 5 Boosted Miles since I've purchased others. I read mixed reviews, but none as detailed as yours. It's good to hear from someone who actually works out with the DVD! Thanks again. Know what you all mean about the chatter. Some days it drives me crazy,…
  • Hi, I'm 62 & been on MFP for almost a year. I want to stay active & healthy. Exercise has really help me stay limber & tone. Welcome.
  • That's a good start. Eating a healthy diet & getting regular exercise will help you lose weight as well as tone. I started a year ago & have lost weight plus helped my health. Just had my annual physical & got a good report. I have more weight to lose, but feel so much better. Good luck!
  • I agree with earlnabby. She probably didn't feel so out of place since you were overweight, too. Now that you are apparently looking good & having success losing weight - she's feeling left out. Maybe this will give her a push to start her own weight loss. Good luck & keep going!
  • Today, I was busy with housecleaning, but wanted a quick workout to round out the day. I did the 30 minute walk. It's an older 2 mile walk, but I like it for a quick workout.
  • Ta_tch, starting slow is a good idea so not to get injured. Keep at it & it won't be too long before you find you'll be able to walk more & at a faster pace. Just keep at it. Don't get discouraged, once you see some weight come off and build up your walking you'll feel so much better & have more energy.

  • Thanks for your input, Fuzzipeg. I have Hashimoto's. My doctor wants me to lose weight and suggested a 1500 calorie diet. No mention of gluten free. I have limited my starches - mainly breads & pasta, but not totally eliminating gluten. This something new for me (going gluten free).
  • You look fantastic! You not only lost weight, but were able to get off your meds, too. Great job....an inspiration!
  • miriamwithcats - Aww, that's too bad about your cats. We have an old cat (21 yo), we got as a kitten. She out-lived her sister. She has no major problems. She doesn't groom herself as much & won't let us do much. The vet says she's the oldest cat she has right now. Elizabeth - I took hrt for 3 years, kept getting very…
  • I'm in for 2 mi/day/5 days/wk. Slacked off in July & August, now need to build up again.
  • Today started overcast here in PA, but the sun came out and temperature came up. I did my exercise for the day & logged my food. Hubby & I went for our monthly massages in afternoon. That's one of our ways to keep the aches/pains in check. Sorry to see summer go, signs of fall are starting here. I saw the post about eating…
  • NSV - non scale victory....like your clothes are looser, someone complimented you've lost weight, etc. I had one - I could cross my legs again!
  • Thanks, Barbie! That would be good.
  • Hi Gayle, She's 2 years out of college & this is her first full time teaching position. It's too bad she had to move so far to get a position, but you do what you need to do. She's close enough we can visit for a weekend. Annie/Pa
  • Hi - I'm new to this thread. It's nice to see other women over 50 working toward the same goals. I'm 62 & started my fitness journey in January 2015. I started eating healthier & exercising. I did pretty well during the winter months losing between 4-5 lbs/month. I have learned I deal with stress by eating. A hard habit to…
  • Don't get discouraged. It took awhile for me, too. The more I kept eating healthy & exercising, the better I felt. I had more energy, slept better and clothes started to fit looser. The weight started to drop. I gained my weight over time, so it's going to take time to lose it.
  • I like it with chopped onion, green pepper, tomatoes & a Mrs Dash flavor like garlic herb or spicy. Use to make zucchini lasagna. For a dip - add salsa & shredded cheese. I liked reading all the ideas other people wrote! Think I'll try some!
  • 24 - at a stand still right now, but keep going.
  • Do you know what sets off your binges? You mentioned that it happens when you have a significant loss. Is it a reward for losing? My binges are usually triggered if I'm upset or nervous about something. It is hard & why I don't keep certain foods in the house. Maybe think of your journey as a life change rather than a…
  • Yes, it is a little harder for me than when I was in my 30's. I'm 62 now. I started eating healthy, exercising & a positive attitude. The weight is coming off - I feel better and getting fit. I still have more weight to lose, but feel I have a good start. You can do it!

  • I started MFP earlier in the year. Right now I've hit a plateau and dealing with somthings. I've managed to maintain so far. I don't want to go back - I want to keep going forward!
  • Hi, I can relate. That's what happened to me around that age. I finally got serious and managed to start losing. If you interested can add me. I have some friends who have been supportive & helped me get started.
  • I log as low impact aerobics unless I do dvd with alot of intervals, then may use aerobics, general.
  • I just found this group, too. I started walking using Leslie Sansone on YT & have bought a few dvd's. I really like working out with her & am surprised how much I have toned.
  • Congratulations on your loss. It sounds like you are motivated and want to get healthy. I started out with the same issues. My family are snackers & really didn't realize until I wanted to avoid all that stuff. My husband is the worst! Things changed when his blood work came back not so good. The doctor told him he neede…
  • HI, I'm 61. I retired early, too. By the time I retired I was so out of shape. I didn't want to continue on that path, so I started eating healthier & exercising. It's been a slow process. I've lost some weight & have more endurance exercising. Hey, I like to cook & drink a little, but more moderation. MFP helps me keep…
