Took me nearly six weeks before I lost a pound.
-
As long as you keep on track, the weight WILL go down! It seems to take longer because, well, it does take longer. But not nearly as long as it took to gain it. Just don't give up. It WILL happen.

You are 20 years old, 5'8", and need to lose eight pounds? You're not going to get much sympathy from here.
-
Also, when you get a cramp, stretch from your heel. This helps me tremendously.

I started out doing as many as I could, then started adding weight. I don't do them nearly as often as I should, and it's one of the easiest things in the world to do!

Yay for you! I LOVE the YMCA!!!
-
Good strategy! I didn't realize that sitting in the back basically "trapped" me into not leaving, hah! @999tigger - they keep the class with the spin bikes locked when there's no class :(
-
Congratulations! I've done a couple of spin classes and definitely sit in the back! Until I've lost a bit more weight, it hurts my right knee to stand while spinning. I loved the two I went to, but the Y changed the schedule to times that I can't make it - waiting on the September calendar to come out! I love kettlebells,…

Agree in total!

Are you working yourself too hard? There's a lady/girl in my Y who does about 5 mph on the treadmill, without drinking water, who stops after about half an hour (but doesn't turn off the treadmill; just steps on the sides of it) and looks like she is going to pass out. She rests a minute, shakes her head, DOES NOT EVEN…

I gained nearly 60 pounds after I quit smoking; have lost nearly half. AS SOON as I get to maintenance, probably another six or eight months away, I do not intend to log or weigh a thing except myself. I will eat what I want, when i want, and as soon as the scales that I will weigh myself on every single day shows a couple…

Then you are only half a mile away. That's do-able. Four to ten miles away is not.
-
I once started a thread called "But I don't have TIME to exercise!" and wow did I get blasted!
-
+1!
-
Why not just take a bunch of laxatives and diuretics? Wouldn't this cleanse you? AND NO I AM NOT SERIOUS!!!! Count your calories and exercise - works every time.

Keep walking, keep logging on MFP, and keep doing whatever you were doing to lose that 25 pounds. I don't know anything about prednisone, but I do know that some drugs cause you to gain weight. Hopefully your condition can respond with a different medication that doesn't cause weight gain. In the meantime, don't give up.…

As long as you keep at it, it will happen. Look how long it took you to gain the weight. It will come off a lot faster: months instead of years. Have patience and don't overdo it!
-
This is one of those cases where you just have to give your best guesstimate. MFP's database can help with that.
-
Try Glucosamine/Chondroitin. Alleviates my joint pains almost immediately.
-
As long as you don't know, you can't plan.
-
It makes perfect sense, but be careful that you eat enough calories. Too little is just about as bad as too many.
-
It's water weight. Give it a couple of days and it will go down again.
-
Hooray for you!!!
-
Think of it as gasoline in a car. Doesn't matter when you put gas in your car; it won't burn until you drive it. Doesn't matter when you eat; you will burn it when you move.
-
Not good. A pound a day would be eating 3,500 calories less than maintenance, which is nearly impossible unless you are eight feet tall and big-boned, or burning 3,500 calories a day exercising, which is also nearly impossible. Try for half a pound a week. It's better than gaining.
-
You are estimating your calorie burn far more than it is, and eating too much. Keep biking and cut your calories to about 2500. IF you keep riding your bike for five hours a day, which seems slightly impossible to me.
-
What is there to understand? You are underweight now.
-
It's great if you or your family will eat uneaten portions, but not good if you stick them in the refrigerator then throw them out when they start growing mold. If you've served yourself a bigger portion than you can eat, then yes, throw the rest away! It's one thing to make a big casserole (or whatever) and freeze most of…

I truly hate this expression, but weight is not linear. Meaning that sometimes you will lose three pounds a week, sometimes gain half a pound in the same time. Overall, you will lose. You can't go from day to day or even week to week. Have patience, keep eating less and exercising more. It will happen.

I've never had a sweet tooth for some reason. Yes, I love sweets, but I'm not obsessed with them to the point of overeating. My problem is savory! Cheese biscuits? Tostidos and Spinach Dip? Cheese and Crackers? THOSE are my weak points, sigh!
