Yeah, I'm sure that will help, OKAYCPU or whatever you are.

Today I'm way under my calories, whereas I'm usually pretty close. Sometimes I have too much appetite, other times I don't. I exercise fairly regularly and don't really think seeing a doctor for weight loss, unless seriously obese, is pertinent. That's what is so great about MFP! You can eat what you want, and it gives you…

Agreed. If you ate NOTHING AT ALL (and didn't pass out and land in the hospital), you couldn't lose this weight. Especially since it's all you have to lose. Is this for real?

Alcohol is not only high in calories, but usually causes you to eat stupid stuff like a bag of potato chips with onion dip or a whole pizza or whatever. Been there, done that. Log the alcohol (you'll probably have to save your cans/bottles/or whatever to get an accurate count the next day when you are sober) and see how…

20,000 steps is certainly doable for people who have jobs which require a lot of walking (warehousing, waitressing, working in a large retail store, etc.), but would take me nearly three hours a day outside of my desk job, and I don't have that many hours! Best of luck to all those who take this challenge!

Thanks! I'll check to see if the Y has adult classes. My form isn't too bad (in my opinion, hah!) as I am kicking from my knees and can actually stay afloat, but other than that, I probably need a LOT of help! Thanks so much for your suggestions about youtube and other programs.

It's so good to know I'm not the only one! Thanks so much for the confirmation that I'm not completely nuts!

Drink lots of water. Really.

You are more than welcome to disagree with me. I have already justified my knowledge to you. I will not do so again.

Those who are not losing know exactly why they aren't. They don't need a scale to tell them so. They know they are eating too much and exercising too little or not at all. Scales come in very handy for those who want to be shocked into how much they are actually eating, as opposed to what they thought they were eating, and…

I can vouch for the Peeps toxins remover. Tastes much better than any other cleanse!
-
I respectfully disagree. Yes, food scales can come in very handy. But if you eat half a cake, you're not going to weigh that. Unless you are truly determined to lose weight, even scales won't be needed. However, it is very helpful to log your weight here as then you can vary your trend for the good.

I feel the exact same way.

I seriously don't get WHY people bring store bought potato or pasta salad! I guess so that they can justify piling their plates with food that people spent hours preparing? One year, at a barbecue, I didn't feel like cooking anything. And I brought something store-bought. Ice Cream Sandwiches! Oh, yes, and they were a hit!…

I moved after Katrina and it killed me, but I couldn't stay there at the time with crime up so much and traffic jams everywhere. I can't complain; I love NC and its mountains and lakes and scenery, but what I wouldn't give to have two pounds of boiled crawfish!
-
Good for you!!! As long as you eat less and move more, it will happen. And only YOU know if you're doing that! Of course logging on MFP has been a great mind-opener to me to realize just how much I am eating and how many calories I'm burning through exercising. Wouldn't trade it for the world!
-
Exactly! In NC, there's great barbecue, and seriously great restaurants. But those that try to imitate Louisiana, well, they fail like crazy!

I don't blame her one bit!!! The "Cajun" style really gets me - they burn a perfectly good piece of meat or fish and drown it in Texas Pete, which is the hot sauce of choice here - NOTHING like blackened anything in New Orleans![/quote] I don't know if ya'll can get it there but Zatarains makes a great blackening seasoning…

I have a Dyson too! Never thought about using it for a weight loss program. Of course canned whipped cream doesn't have very many calories, as it is also mostly air. :)
-
You could just get one of those air cleaner thingies for computers and aim it in your mouth as though you were squirting whipped cream from a can . . .

No, the 500 calorie deficit (in food eaten) is still a 500 calorie deficit. But the less you weigh, the less you burn it off. So as you weigh less, you will burn less of those 500 calories off. So you either need to lower your calorie deficit or increase your exercise.

I rarely weigh my food. I weigh pistachios so that I measure out exactly 100 calories. I weigh meat and fish and grated cheese that I prepare in advance to freeze and use later in a salad or other dish. I weigh hamburger meat when I'm making hamburgers so that I can get exactly eight six-ounce pre-cooked burgers for the…

I think it's unfair that you can't get boiled crawfish in North Carolina. And that the nearest Popeye's is 20 miles away instead of around the corner or on the way to anywhere. And that vendors say, "True New Orleans style . . . (fill in the blank - pralines, beignets, jambalaya, whatever) are LYING!

There's actually a generic "Pot Luck" category in the database that is 450 calories a plate. Of course there's no way of telling what's on the plate or how high the plate is piled, but that sounds about right for what I eat. I usually put in one extra plate than I've actually eaten to allow for the added calories of sweets.
-
Not to mention that drinking alcohol usually makes one want to eat less responsibly . . .

-
Exactly!

Kickball!
