Good! Stop hanging on altogether. It's more important to start slowly with both speed and incline than to try to push it by holding onto the machine. Not only is this unsafe for your posture, but it's unsafe for falling. Stretching doesn't matter here; balance and control do.

As long as you prefer to consume empty calories which push you far past your maintenance rate, you won't lose. I wish the best for you.
-
Nope, nope, nope. 3,500 calories is a pound.
-
Are you hanging onto the treadmill when you walk, or standing up straight and swinging your arms? Makes a big difference in your posture and balance.
-
When you first start exercising, muscles hold onto water. Give it time.
-
A cheap regular one. Didn't know they made weighted ones!

Yes, exercise is just as essential as lowering your calorie intake. If you eat back your exercise calories, which are often overstated, you are sabotaging yourself. Eat at or below your calorie level and exercise. Your body will love you for it.

So far the general consensus of this thread is that cold turkey works better than quit smoking aids. Nicotine, once you give it up, is completely out of your system between 48 and 72 hours. Mine was gone in less than 48 hours. It's just a matter if you really want to do it, or not. If you don't, but want to appear that you…

Absolutely agree.

Not, not, NOT! All the patches do is prolong the agony. Quit. Just quit. First day is rough but with a lot of drinking water, chewing on cinnamon Altoids, walking, and feeling very strange, you will get through it. Praying helps a LOT. Second day, not as bad, but still tempting, but as long as you drink a lot of water,…

Exactly! I always thought the same thing about riding mowers - like riding a motorcycle. But it's more like riding a horse.

I have one but am having the hardest time! When I was a kid I could hula hoop from my ankles to my neck. Last time I tried, couldn't get it around my "waist" but a couple of times. I need to work on that, because I'm sure it would be a great workout.

My favorite is walking, either outside or on a treadmill. Actually, I like the treadmill a lot. I can watch TV, play around with the speed and incline, check my heart rate occasionally, and pause it in case I have to pee. My first bathing suit that I've bought since gaining all my weight over ten years arrived last…

I never thought of it that way. I live in a rural area full of two-lane country roads and am terrified of splatting a cyclist as I drive over a hill or around a sharp turn. And there are a lot of cyclists here! But I'm still too afraid of being splatted, so I'll stick to my stationery bike.

Playing Cupid Shuffle on repeat on the CD player and line dancing to it until I'm out of breath. Haven't done that in a while, hmmm.

This might sound silly, but it really, really works. When you go to bed, in your mind, keep telling yourself that you will be getting up early to exercise. Just keep thinking that over and over until you go to sleep. Then, when you wake up, just DO it! I much prefer getting exercise over with in the morning; invigorates me…

Strive to hit the carbs that MFP advises.
-
Make sure you log that as exercise! :)

Meals that work for some probably won't work for you. For example, my breakfast usually consists of a Greek yogurt and either a banana or 8 oz. of V-8 juice. It's easy and fast. Protein shakes are popular with people as a meal replacement. I do that once in a while but need to have a snack a couple of hours later even…

Keep plugging at it and make sure you aren't actually eating more calories than you think and that you aren't thinking you burn more calories exercising than you really are. Keep those two things in check and the weight will fall off. BUT not at exactly .75 lbs. a week! Maybe two weeks nothing, then bam! a couple or three…

Exercise is extra. Activity level is do you have a desk job or are you a waitress or are you a construction worker? to determine between low and high.
-
I'm pretty sure he means he now walks10-20k a day, not a week. And yes, even if you don't eat one calorie less than you were before (provided you were maintaining and not gaining weight), that's the part of CO that will burn calories. But a week is a very short time for results, and yes, muscles do retain water when used…

What a lovely surprise that will be to all!

Thnks so much for your support!
-
When you are ready, your determination will surprise you. Hopefully that will happen soon.
-
And it will if you look at it that way. If you deny yourself something you love, in moderation, you are going to crave it even more, and kablooey! next thing yanno you are not only eating that, but chili cheese fries, a giant milk shake, etc. Eat the burger and if you can't get it to fit in the day's calories, make sure it…
-
So do it! Add the calories into MFP and if you go over, you go over. Exercise more. That inspires me more than anything because I don't want to "waste" the calories burned on junk. OR maybe I do! It's my choice! As long as you keep your calories out higher than your calories in, you will lose weight no matter what you eat.
-
I am confused - you said it burns calories, then said it's not going to burn away the pounds. Which is correct? Regardless, maybe it's my location, but I've taken several Zumba classes at different places, including the Y, but couldn't follow the instructor, nor could most of the class. I've stayed with the same instructor…
