Everybody starts out stupid. And every person in that class started out stupid. If anyone dares to say anything to you, at least half the class will call that person out. I remember when I first had a PT and couldn't do lunges without holding onto the wall. Then I could do them without holding onto the wall, then I could…

And the majority of your weight IS water weight! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_water

We were not arguing, we were having a friendly discussion. I'm not the one who brought up No. 2 :), but I answered your question to the best of my capability. If that wasn't good enough, I would recommend you consult with your local Poopologist, who would be much more experienced than I am.

This is one of the kindest, most thoughtful posts I have ever read.
-
That doesn't come as easily as number one, usually only after drinking diet Coke, which has more ounces than poop! Most people drink coffee - same thing!!!
-
Just make sure you weigh yourself after you pee and before you drink that 16 oz of water!

I love morning workouts! In the previous town where I lived, there was a two-mile track in a park that opened at 5:00 am. I went there every day. Moved, and ultimately joined the Y. Was there every morning at 5:00 am. In both places, I live(d) close enough to just come back home and be wherever I needed to be by 7:30. BUT…

Don't you just hate that????

Actually, that's how I found out how far it was to walk in my neighborhood. Just slightly over a mile, so I log it as one mile. My doxie loves going for walks, and until I got him, I never just walked around aimlessly! Now it's fun!

Which post?
-
That would be cool, except I sunburn like crazy unless it's early morning or late evening, so I won't be able to experiment with you. Ooops, looks like we're hacking @camelgirlmn's post! Sorry about that!

You so have everyone's support here, hon.
-
Same here! I don't want to waste all those calories burned on stupid stuff that could negate my deficit!
-
1200 calories is a lot for a six-year-old, but not an adult.
-
Just got my size 14 tankini which fits - I look like an over-stuffed sausage, but I can get it on! I figure it will last me for the next 20 pounds lost, hah! Now I just have to work up the nerve to go in public with it . . .

Any kind of exercise will help, even if it's the same kind every day. I know I tend to stick to walking, exerbike, and stationery row boat. But more important is how much you eat. If you are eating say 500 calories a day more than it takes to maintain but burning 300 calories a day exercising, you're going to be over by…
-
You ONLY lost five pounds in a month?
-
This seems obvious, but are you making sure the calories you consume are less than you need to maintain in order to continue losing?
-
Let me clarify - not 500 calories less than you exercise, but 500 calories less than it takes to maintain. So if you maintain on 1800 calories, then 1300 calories a day will allow you to lose approximately one pound a week.
-
Base it on science, not what you feel like. If you eat 500 calories a day less than you burn, you will lose approximately one pound a week. I say approximately because one week you might actually gain a pound, another week you might drop three. It all evens out over the course of how many weeks you want to lose a pound a…

Congrats to you! Wish I had done it at your age, but it was so widely accepted back then. It's funny how once you REALLY decide to do it, it's not nearly as hard as all the times you wanted to quit, but hadn't DECIDED!
-
You are misunderstanding this quote. Eat less means eat less than you normally eat. Exercise more means exercise more than you normally do. It doesn't mean to eat less calories than you burn.
-
I was between 105 and 110 until I quit smoking at age 51. I'm almost halfway back there!
-
Got sick and tired of being fat and tired.

Doesn't matter how many meals you eat a day; it's your total calories consumed that count. Two miles a day isn't going to do it, although it's better than nothing. Three or four miles would be better. Log onto MFP, give your stats, see what it says, and follow that. Don't eat back your exercise calories. A lot of people…
-
Not in my opinion. I don't eat them back UNLESS for some reason I am extra hungry, which is rare. Exercise calories are far from accurate. A lot of people say exercise calories burned just provides you with more food that you can eat. I disagree. They are so wildly variable! However, if you exercise a lot and occasionally…

How cool is that? Where is the DollarTree can I buy for a dollar, plus caffeine and ginseng?
-
The scales. They didn't motivate me for a very long time. Then one day I was 169.8 and I went nuts. My ideal weight is between 105-110. Now the scales motivate me very well. Not to mention MFP.

Most of the people here are very good and very knowledgeable. And they spend a lot of time posting to help people, as a community should. However, there are some people who insist on believing in myths both in diet and exercise, and when the community tries to help them by explaining, they get angry and so it goes. Don't…

Sheesh don't know nothing about BMI, and am very glad I don't if it stirs up this much controversy. My legs below my thighs and my arms below my upper arms are very thin. Most of my fat is concentrated in the middle of my body. Which is why I have to wear such a large size despite my weight of 144. Before I quit smoking…
