It initially took me nearly six weeks to start losing, and then it WHOOSHED! Don't give up.

Eat less, exercise more, have patience.
-
Your profile doesn't make sense. Could you expand?
-
And if you GAIN half a pound a week, you'll weight 26 MORE pounds!
-
I delete many updates on my feed!

It took me six weeks to lose my first pound. How long have you been doing this?
-
Hah! Let them wonder, and then when you lose the rest, BAM!

I prefer to not pay any money and have challenges with my friends.

Decide you want to do it. Really decide. So what if you're hungry once in a while? Just DO it. If you like being fat, you won't decide to lose weight. Simple as that. If you prefer eating junk to being healthy, then you're going to do it. Only YOU can decide to stop the madness of being overweight and unhealthy. And nobody…

Just exercise a lot, eat less, and weigh yourself every day to make sure you're on track.
-
Bottom line: You just have to be determined. You have to decide you are going to do this. Otherwise, it will never happen.

Weigh everything in ounces, make a note of the calories in each ingredient, and then when they are all combined, make "one ounce" your serving size. MFP will calculate the number of calories in that one ounce, and then you can enter the number of ounces you actually eat.

I immigrated from New Orleans, where you could walk lots of places, eat low-cal boiled crawfish, and had lots of parks, to a small town in North Carolina, where everywhere is two-lane highway and there aren't any nearby decent trails, and eventually gained nearly fifty pounds - was already ten pounds overweight when I…

^^This!!! My style of clothing thirty pounds ago was basically "nouveau homeless man" (even though I am a woman, hah!). I wore pants and an oversized shirt so that my bulges wouldn't show. I still have 30 pounds to go, but I'm enjoying wearing clothes that actually compliment me. One of my clients asked me why I was…

I have a Fitbit Zip that I only want to use to count my steps. That's it! Yet even though I log in x number of steps, when it syncs to my computer it reduces the amount of steps. I called their customer service and they weren't very helpful. I'll try again and see if I get someone knowledgeable.

Have to agree with the self-confidence factor. I know overweight people who are very confident and people adore them. I lost my self-confidence when I gained so much weight and rarely smiled or reached out to anyone. Now that I'm losing, the self-confidence is rebounding and I'm putting on makeup and contact lenses instead…

^^This exactly!

I don't eat back my exercise calories. First, I don't know if that's actually how many calories I burned. Second, I don't know if what I ate, even if scrupulous in measuring and weighing, really had the actual calories I ate. I don't log in stupid stuff like a ten-calorie cough drop, nor do I log in 2.5 minutes walking to…

Sounds like you're not in this to lose weight, but to get fit. Don't worry, the water weight you've gained will whoosh away once your muscles get used to the exercise. Congrats!

I usually eat a Dannon Greek yogurt for breakfast (my doxie loves licking out the remains of the carton otherwise I might even skip that) and either a banana or boiled egg for a later snack. This helps curtail my appetite, as when I don't do it, I get really hungry by 11:00 and crave an overstuffed sandwich, which most of…

Just smile and say, "Thank you" when you are complimented. And I bet you are receiving a lot of them. And deserve every single one! Don't ever, ever wish you were still overweight! Surely you feel better now than you did before?

Better to split it up than to get burned out. Even if you only walk ten minutes at a time three times or even six times a day, that's great! And I'm not talking about walking around Walmart while you're shopping, or counting your steps while you're doing housework, but making a concerted effort to walk vigorously for ten…

I don't have a sweet tooth, thankfully, and would much rather eat half an avocado.

Eat less, move more. Congratulations on maintaining for a year, but now you have to get serious. The only TRUE motivation comes from within yourself. Consider it a challenge and log EVERYTHING! Best of luck to you.
-
Are you logging into MFP's diary?

My sister-in-law who is always screaming at everyone once screamed at me that I needed to eat a Snickers the one time she saw me only slightly lose my temper. Funny.
-
Agreed!

Only YOU can motivate yourself. You can do it by reading success stories from others, or by seeing people work out hard in the gym, but in the end, the only person who can truly motivate you is YOU.

Even if you only lose one pound a month, it's better than gaining two pounds a month. Be patient, and the little differences will start rewarding you.

Then again, perhaps he's tired of his wife whining that she can't lose weight while gorging herself with ice cream and cake and cookies and red wine. Nobody really knows the situation. If a man is really going to walk away from the mother of his kids just because she is overweight, and that's the ONLY reason, then he's…
