  • My two cents to add to the confusion. I've opted for dumbbells instead of barbells. I feel safer when I'm home alone. They don't hurt my wrists as much. And I've found lots of great dumbell workouts to hit pretty much every muscle. Stay safe!
  • I'm content at 1-2 lbs per week. MFP tells me my calorie goal should be 2000 for that. So far I haven't been unbearably hungry with that. Makes me feel like I can sustain it for the long term to meet my goal (5-6 months). I don't think I could do even short term if I felt hungry all the time. I usually stay at my 2k limit…
  • Yum! That looks scrumptious!
  • These are great ideas! I feel inspiration coming on! Thanks to all! Never thought about the issue of plastic in the microwave. I'll go with glass. And the mason jars are a good idea. BTW I learned from bad experience not to overfill the mason jars for the freezer - and to leave the lids on loosely until they freeze a bit.…
  • I don't think organic is a hoax - but my friends and I tried an interesting experiment that was cool and convincing. Do a blind taste test with fresh organic carrots and fresh regular carrots. See if he can tell the difference. To me (and all my friends), the organic carrots simply tasted better and, I thought, cleaner…
  • Yeah - I finally caved on this one myself. More accurately, I accepted that my body gets hungry around 8 or 9 at night. I decided to stop beating myself up about it and just plan for it instead. I try to save a goodly number of calories from my daily count for that last meal (but maybe I should call it something else!)…
  • I agree with most of the comments. Eat, be gentle with yourself, and try something different tomorrow.
  • When I was in a cubical I made a simple standing desk that was great! Facilities found me a small wooden box that was just big enough to fit on top of my desk and hold up my keyboard, mouse and monitor. It took a couple of days for my poor feet to get used to it and then I felt 100% better. (I got one of those comfortable…
  • I would love to join in. I'm new here and could use some friends myself! Back in the day the pounds would shed like magic, but those days are long gone! I've never tried getting back in shape with an online community before - makes me excited but a little anxious. I'm not exactly sure what "clean" eating means - but I like…
  • Hi! Newbie oatmeal lover here (newbie to MFP, not oatmeal!). That's a tough call you describe. Can't lower the calories of oatmeal (unless you're slathering it in butter, raisins, and maple syrup (yum yum))! The only thing to do to hit that very low 1200 ceiling is to cut portions or cut out something else. Maybe split the…
  • Me too! Your post could have been my post! Same age, same weight (well, ok, 215) and same goal (almost - 170). This is my first day and first post. Oh, and I'm I'm a dad, not a mom. Hmm. Maybe not completely the same - but still! Friend me anyway!
