Motivation needs to come from your 'why'. If you need a coach, have a google search. I can't see there being anyone willing to do it for free here.

Another Scot here! Hello!
-
I've got away with minimal weighing so far- 14lbs down- I think ice cream is the one thing I do weigh so I don't over do it. However, things are slowing down a wee bit for me- last 20lbs- so I'm on the brink of hitting the scales hard. If I keep losing, I'll keep as I'm currently doing but first sign of a stall I know I…

I'm bad. I take my 3 rest days too literally. I need to walk to work/town on them instead of taking the bus.

I find looking at Pinterest motivating, too. I've settled on aiming to have a 'style' once I'm down to my goal weight- I'm going for Paris inspired- breton tops, blacks, navies, whites, all classic cuts- as a capsule wardrobe. I'm sick of looking like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. I've already bought a few…

I've lost 13.5 lbs in total. Just got back on the horse after a 3 month break where I only put on 2lbs not tracking my calories (which was a miracle). Things are slowing as I'm now 20lbs from my ideal weight but that's to be expected. I'm upping my exercise so even if I don't lose so much weight, it'll help me tone up.

Got to say I subscribe to @steveko89 's way of doing things. My calorie goal is my "I'm full" marker. Anything else to the contrary is usually just greed. Not to say I don't let myself ever go over this but I do so in the full knowledge that I don't 'need' it.

Good goal. I'm turning 40 next November and I want to be in the best shape of my adult life for it so I feel ya'!

Mathew Baynton from the original Horrible Histories cast- love a funny man Jason 'Foxy' Fox from SAS: Who Dares Wins- not very funny but very fit

The Current War. Illuminating in several ways.

Having minimal self esteem for umpteen years. Once I get a job, I'm getting me Tinder!

Watching a documentary about how biscuits are made. Mmmm. Hob Nobs!

Well done in deciding to do it! How exciting! I'm meant to be running my first this October- the Yorkshire Marathon in England.

Free- works for me

I have to echo @Danp Your weight is all about calories in versus calories out. Track your weight but give it time- I found my weight actually went up the first week then bounced around before heading downwards.

I'm up for 50 miles this month.

I'm just back running after an effective break of a couple of years minus the odd blip. I have a 10k and half marathon booked soon. Maybe a bit too soon but they're the last local events this year that I can get to.

tight, muscly hamstrings

hot cross buns. Used to adore them with some butter. Now I get dreadful indigestion. First food that's ever affected me this way.

Hi Allan I'm a Scot who's signed up for some running races this Autumn- I want to lose another 20/22lbs so roughly the same as yourself. I've not given myself too much time to train but I've got a 10k, half and full marathon scheduled. I admire mountaineers/hill walkers. I've got very bad vertigo so steep inclines turn my…

I have a spreadsheet that I update weekly. I get to fill it in green if I lose. I give myself 5lb 'treats'- so a wee piece of jewellery, a piece of clothing etc. I'm down almost a stone (14lbs) but have another 22 lbs to lose so I need to find some things on Etsy I can lust over.

I've had chronic depression for 7 years now, although on and off since my late teens. I don't personally find exercise that helpful in that I have to be doing better to do the exercise. I'm just too exhausted and a bit self-conscious, even to get out really early in the morning. That said, I'm doing better right now and I…

As a Scot from a poorer area- the obesity rate increases visibly just getting on the bus to our part of town. Especially once you become aware that 'overweight' is not as big as you think it is (said as a slim-ish looking normal bmi who's just got out of the overweight category herself). Alcohol is a big part of it. As is…

I'm really rooting for you. As others have said, even a small reduction in your weight will have a positive effect on your other markers. Keep us all informed!
-
how tall are you? I'm 5'3", 10 stone and very sedentary due to health and need to be at 1200 to lose. I was hungry at first but you need to pick your calories wisely. Eat what satiates you. Some say protein so say a boiled egg can help you feel fuller. I have to have oats for breakfast. Beware of eating out of boredom or…

Hmm. If it's postural, I found the best stretch for the back after a run is to lie on my front, hands under my shoulders and push my upper body up- a 'swan' movement. If I don't, I get dreadful migraines. But I've never heard of earache caused by running. Someone else may chime in.
-
Yup. You definitely need to give yourself at least a month, preferably several. I know I go up a couple of pounds every TOM. You don't say how tall you are. I'm 5'3", pretty sedentary and have to be at 1200 a day to lose. I'd then eat back my exercise calories, or most of them.

Go speak to the recruiters- sometimes they'll provide you with workout plans or even workout groups for committed recruits.

My ginormous knickers-the nice new smaller ones are lined up and ready to go!
