sljomial, that was such an awesome comment that I GREATLY appreciate. Thank you!

THANK YOU!!!! That helps and really makes sense.

Is that max weight loss goal 1% per week of your body weight okay if you need to lose 25#?
-
2% of body weight is supposed to be the max to set. I am at that for a month (actually under) then in January will be resetting at 1% which is more lower. Not sure why the deficit seems so steep to you.
-
Why?

I am 56 (male) 5'10", now 201, started at 211 Dec 1. Goal weight 185 ish. I set 2# per week loss on Dec 1 and plan on going to 1# per week Jan 1. All CICO and walking and eating right for December, Jan 1 will add weights and low impact machines to workout. Thanks for all your comments which were very helpful!

THANK YOU!

Twice a day. Before bed and after waking up and doing my business.

I constantly recalculate it. If you are losing weight your daily calories to eat will decrease but your MFP calculation will not reflect the decrease unless you hit recalc. Same as if you gain. When I first started doing this and slowed down on the weight loss I did not know why. It was because I was not recalculating. MFP…

Travistock, where did you get this formula from?
-
Sijomial, why say you that? Any app or calculation is an estimate. For Example, going to https://caloriesburnedhq.com/calories-burned-walking/ , and plugging my weight of 205 into the simple calorie burn indicator along with 61 minutes walked, a normal walking pace gives me 351 calories burned, fast pace gives me 431…

Map My Ride sent me a response that their new app does not work accurately when a cell phone is in power saver mode. That was the issue. I am not sure who would compare time and calorie differences between the Run and Walk app, that would make no sense. The only thing that is relevant is the distance.
-
Quite possibly! I guess I can recheck it doing that route again.
-
Google "exercises and calories burned" and you will get a solid list of sites that was give you a range per exercise or sport or whatever you are doing. I looked at 5 or so of these sites then took an average of all 5. Close is good enough.

emilysusana - ditto. I am all in or not at all. If I can't stay on a program I go the other way. Same with working out. If I can't get on a stead 3-4x per week program, I just don't do it. I am glad I read your post since last night I decided it was time to lose the weight again. I have a predictable 20-25# range and it…

THANK YOU THREE! That was very helpful!!!!

Thanks Ann, great comment! I have many different 'things' I have calculated and looked at that did not make any sense but I like digging and trying different things. I know that the bottom line is accurate logging and weighing of food. My goal on July 01 was (is) to lose 28 pounds by March 15th 2019. I will be soon…

Awesome! Way to go! I think this way as well in breaking down data, but you made it happen, what an inspirational post!
-
Yes Travis, I AM an over thinker (yet, in all fairness 'over thinking' is an opinion and a personal matter of perspective, but I will give you that one since most others will probably agree with you)! I am also extreme in my detail, quest for data, knowledge and understanding.

So when y'all started you must have not just finished a bunch of crappy eating (like me), which is pretty cool. Each of my weight loss journeys started after I had gone through a very gluttonous period and ending, which came off on the scale pretty dramatically in the first week or two. Then my loss was more correlated to…

So it seems that the best statistic (number) to keep track of is my net cals under or over my goal (target) weight loss per week. In my case my goal is 1 pound loss per week. If my net cals for the week is (3,500), then (3,500) / 3,500 = (1) pound lost. Regardless of my actual weight on the scale, my body will catch up or…

LOL Kimny72! Very true.

MMAPAGS - I don't consider any desert to be really 'healthy', if it is an indulgent pleasure, and the consensus in MFP is that if you have room in your calorie bank then in my case last night, 8 M&M's was a worthy reward. How are 8 M&M's any different then eating chocolate, cookies, ice cream, or a piece of pie? Plus, at 3…

My Final Snack Recipe tonight, 199 calories. 1 teaspoon peanut oil (40 cal), 2 tablespoon kernels popped (80 cal), 1/2 fun pack M&M's crushed (8 pieces total) (24 cal), 1/8 cup kraft shredded parmesan cheese (55 cal). A shake of salt on top, and mix. = HEAVEN! (oh, I also added vanilla extract to the peanut oil and kernels…

AM after waking up and after peeing and PM before bed. I am a data *kitten* so I like to see how much I lose over night as well as daily. I like to compare the current days morning weight to the prior weeks same day weight, and do this daily. At the end of each week I can add up each days weight loss/gain, divide by 7, and…

I just used a restaurant to go container with the plastic top and seals the container and put 3 tablespoons of kernels in it, popped till the popcorn almost popped to the top, which was 2 minutes, removed the popcorn and measured out the kernels that did not pop, leaving me popped popcorn from between 1-2 tablespoons and…

Thank you! What I never knew was that I could put just enough oil in to coat the bottom of a pan. Ha! All I have ever see and done is put enough oil in so that the kernels are completely covered by oil. I will do a few trial runs and see what happens. I love the microwave idea with a brown paper bag too. Thanks for your…

Thank you for your responses!!! I am in no hurry, but if someone had confirmed that "fasting and drinking a lot of water will flush it out in a day" then that would have been something I might have looked at doing. I mean, why not? But your very helpful answers were what I suspected in that it takes several days to correct…

I just went back in and set 0 workouts and 0 minutes and my 1,970 cal per day target did not change. Thank you.
