  • THANK YOU!
  • Thank you! I took a spill on my bicycle and thought I had broken my hand. It swelled up like a dead bulldog. Xray showed no break. Been icing but it's still swollen and for two days now I have added a little weight on the scale. No big deal but I wondered if this was the culpret since I still exercised and kept on my daily…

  • I guess this is why I like to round up across the board on calories consumed and be conservative (if there is a question) on calories burned, like lifting weights, which is really hard to get accurate since there are so many variables.
  • Okay, that I can understand!
  • I track daily. By doing this I can see how it would suck to weigh only weekly and happen to hit those bad weight days a week, 2 or 3 in a row when the other 5-6 days were more reflective of where I really am.
  • Why is coffee important? If you drink too much doesn't the caffeine act like a diet pill?
  • I'm in! Quit in 2012, relapsed in 2015, new SD of 07/10/15. Thank you for starting this group!
  • Congrats! AA here too. MFP has really helped me focus on positive things. Good luck!
  • Thank you mallbu. That really was my answer. I tried to keep it simple. I did try first to search for this simple answer but I keep reading more and more that was more complicated then I was looking for. I am not trying to be crazy calculating with my MFP. I am more setting a reasonable target, measuring food the best I…
  • So when MFP asks on the profile page setup info "How many times do you plan on exercising per week?" this has nothing to do with what we 'actually do' each day for calculating purposes? What I am hearing from the first 4 comments is that for example, if I now go walk for 45 minutes and burn 300 calories, that those should…
  • THANK YOU PAV MFP GOD!!!!! I worship the ground you preach from and am taking a knee while I write this! :) The only app I use is my walking app that tells me how far I walked and how many calories I burned. I weight in the morning, I usually weight each night before bed just because I like to see how much I lose each…
  • AnnPT77 - Thank you! That was another answer that I was looking for which I can understand and was along the lines of my thinking and in my question. I appreciate what you said, that makes sense to me and really helped!
  • I wish when we hit the 'Insightful, Inspiring or Like' that it says who did this. When I have time to quickly read through comments I will hit these buttons if I don't have time to specifically comment to what has been said.
  • Wherels, I did thank people for their responses. I apologize now to people who comment expecting a specific comment back to you, I did not know that this was expected in the community. I have read some posts where the poster never came back in at all to comment on any comments made to their question, but seldom have I read…
  • THANK YOU GRACE!!!!! You wrote:" "When I worked as a RN on cardiac floor with lots of patients with kidney problems, who retain fluid which can cause potentially fatal issues, we always weighed first thing in the morning, after the patient had used the bathroom. The physicians who were closely monitoring weight as a sign…
  • If you looked at my daily page of what I eat and exercise calories I add then eat back you will see that I am not on a dangerous disordered diet by any means. My goal is to lose anywhere between 0.00001 to 1.0 pounds per week, and so far since Oct 30th I am averaging 0.5 pounds loss per week (on average). I just like…
  • kgirlhart, if I drink a gallon of water during and after stuffing myself at a buffet restaurant and eat till I am so stuffed that I might explode (think of Paul Newman's stomach in Cool Hand Luke after eating 50 hardboiled eggs) then I immediately weight myself, you are saying this would be my true weight? I think the low…
  • Is it fair to say though that your lowest weight of the day is what your weight truly is? This has nothing to do with how much weight one has lost, since that would be most fairly gauged on weighing at the same time every day, I get that. But it seems like if one took the effort to weigh at multiple times during the day,…
  • I do tess, and I am weighing 2 pounds more per day after eating the gumbo, leading me to surmise that the gumbo is high in sodium and is causing me to retain water.
  • Thanks for your replies. Makes sense.
  • Wow Collectingblues! That was rather snarky of you, but I kind of liked the creative sarcasm! You are quite the creative one. No offense, that is my kind of sick twisted humor!
  • We moved in August from a home on a large hill and terrible streets to walking to a home with access to sidewalks and streets in any direction. I discovered walking my dog to be the best form of exercise I have had since doing this weight loss things 3 times in the past 5 years. I now look forward to the morning walks, I…
  • These were all great and encouraging comments from your personal experiences. Thank you!
  • Good going vanmep! Sounds like we are on a similar path! HellYeah, I think you are simply describing a big generational gap, but it sounds like the trend weight app leaves you a lot of quality time to spend on very useful other things to challenge your brain, like mindless fashion design..... :)
  • Thanks HellYeah. I kind of enjoy the process of 'connecting the dots'. I saw the recent movie that came out called "California Typewriter" with Tom Hanks in it, and I can now appreciate what I heard him and others say about using the old manual typewriters and how it kind of relates to my enjoyment of my graph paper,…
  • ALATARIEL75 - THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the best way I have ever heard that and it makes great sense.
  • I think some people are referring to 'turning fat into muscle' in a figure of speech way. By lifting we are accelerating the fat loss (if we watch what we eat) and if muscle does weight more then fat, this is maybe what is being referred to. Now, does muscle really weight more then fat????
