I lost 175 lbs. Everything has changed.

I love those little sticks of cheese in individual packaging. 80-90 calories each, I have several a day.
-
Lol. Maybe smoke a Lucky Strike or two to get that extra-good workout! OP clearly has a LOT to learn about health and fitness. I’ve found that once you start working a reasonable strategy, and spend some time on it, all the lame excuses regarding exercise fall away. I find it amusing, and maybe a little embarrassing, to…

Boom! You just dropped a truth bomb on this thread.

As others are also noticing, you seem to be looking for validation rather than advice. What you’re suggesting isn’t going to kill you, so go for it. People are advising you that it’s probably not going work because they know better. Going without food for days at a time is not something overweight people are typically good…

These are great! I particularly love the “starvation mode” one, and the several that reinforce that losing weight all about the calories. I’ve saved some of these.
-
Dude! I started at almost precisely your weight : about 410 lbs ... and here I am now, right around your goal weight of 235. Been maintaining about two years. It can be done!
-
At my heaviest I found exercise to be excruciating and demoralizing, though I enjoy it now. @RuNaRoUnDaFiEld is right, diet is the key.

I love the phrase "I'm recovering from weighing....", that's a new one to me, I'm going to start using it. I'm recovering from weighing 407 pounds. I've been maintaining at around 235 for about a year. It can seem impossible at first, the numbers are so big. It can be done, and you can do it!

If there's a single piece of advice that I think you'll find nearly 100% agreement with everyone on MFP. It's this: get a scale. Weigh everything. This is a skill it takes a little while to get the hang of.
-
I can track my macros just fine with the free option. In fact, I don't see how it can be made much easier.
-
Absolutely not. What MFP is charging is obscene, and I see nothing of value in it, anyway. MFP's iOS app is already a buggy piece of crap, I'd be furious if I were paying for it. If they expect me to pay, they need a product. The only thing of value here is the database and the forums, all created by us, the users, not MFP.

+1 lol. I can find a way to use this fantastic quote every single day.
-
Be very, very sure you are tracking and logging your food as accurately as possible. Weigh everything. If you're confident of that, then just try to be patient (so hard!) and trust the math.
-
Ya know, I also experienced a frustrating "stall" of a week or so when I initially started walking and exercising. Coincidence? Water retention? I dunno. It passed.
-
No, it isn't.
-
Not so much for me, but my wife is struggling with this too. I feel her pain, it really stinks to work so hard and see nothing on the scales. If you are absolutely positive you are tracking your food accurately then you gotta just hang in there and trust the math. The scale will move.

My blood pressure returned to normal after about 75lbs or so of weight loss. No more bp meds for this cat.
-
I lost 155 pounds in about 10 months. I ate around 1600 calories a day for a large part of this time and felt fine. I'm eating 1800 now and adding 150 a week until I find my maintenance level. Did I lose too fast? Probably. Even though I did a pretty good job of eating a ton of protein, I've possibly lost more muscle than…

Amen. I often say, only half jokingly, that if potato chips and Doritos had never been invented I'd have never got fat. Something about that salty crunchy stuff drives me absolutely mad.

The guns!!!
-
I just started using an app called Happy Scale that kinda smooths out those daily variables in weight. I'm enjoying it.
-
Maybe you should research the meaning of "forum." The OP asked a question, my responses are among many. No one is forcing you to agree with me, so what's your problem? Why don't you take your own advice?
-
Ok, I'm fascinated by this chart and wondering if it's for real or yet another pseudoscience thing. What studies or research etc supports this? The chart lists a source of Coaching & Weight Management... Huh? That is meaningless to me. Thanks!

It's like comings off drugs. This is "food" scientifically designed to be addictive, basically. It takes time to get off the stuff. I used to frequent the fast food drive thru at least once a day, usually more. Just sweat it out for a few weeks. It's crazy hard, but you can do it! These days, I could easily binge and…

Keep on keepin' on! It works!
-
So much rotten information. There is no such thing as starvation mode, and you can't "trick" your body into losing weight.
-
I use a heart rate monitor too, and I DO track my exercise... I just don't let MFP do it and screw up my daily calorie goal.
