  • It was Scooby's website, of course!
  • Thanks for your reply. I went to a different website (although I can't remember which) and ran the numbers again. This is going to sound ridiculous but I'm not sure what I did to change it, but I altered it so it came out 45% carbs, 35% protein and 20% fat, which is much more manageable! I'm still doing the same workout at…
  • Hello there, Well done on starting your journey and what looks like a remarkably healthy diet! So healthy I don't even know what most of those foods were, but that's besides the point. Just a couple of things: 1) 1200 calories worked for me at first, then I stalled. I did the calculations on Scooby's website…
  • OK so I ran my numbers again on IIFYM and it still came up with 2184 calories (based on this weeks weight, I have had a bad week eating everything in sight and even some stuff I couldn't see!). It dropped to 1747 calories (20% cut) which is around what I am eating now, it suggested I eat 83g carbs, 186g protein and 74g of…
  • Oh and my C/F/P is set to 45/20/35
  • I would also really like the information. I've been lifting for a while now but rather than just becoming super strong, I want a better body, and I want it yesterday! It is mainly my bottom half that needs work so I think this might be the programme for me, if I could just find out what the exercises were!
  • I play netball once or twice a week depending on whether we have a match or not. I lift too, an adaptation of SL 5x5 and 36 minutes of cardio (12 minutes each on treadmill, XT and step machine) each gym session. 12-15 minutes is about my maximum before I get bored of that machine so I like to switch it up. I also do body…
  • Bit late to the party but just read this - will be popping along to Holland Barrett today to buy a pack or two (buy one get one half price at the moment). And thanks in advance Nixy for being so durn convincing! You are my kind of person!
  • But that doesn't mean they are deadlifting a fire engine every week.
  • Seriously though, I agree to a certain degree with what someone here is saying. I too have read almost nothing but 'lift now, and lift heavy' on loads of boards on here (even before I joined a few lifting groups). Like cardio isn't good for you or at all necessary. Some people might just want to be slim and look like your…
  • Hello! Well done you on tackling the men-only section of the gym! I was exactly the same, even this morning I got weird looks when I picked up a barbell. Whatever. Lifting weights is great, I've just started on Stronglifts 5x5 (someone has put the link to the summary on an earlier post, so check it out). I am not…
  • Hi! I'm from London, got about a stone and a half left to lose, and I want to lower my body fat percentage to about 20%. I eat about 1700 calories a day and just started Stronglifts 5x5. I play netball, do various classes at the gym, do the odd half or full marathon from time to time. Started the year really well, slipped…
  • I'd like to join! Need a bit of motivation that doesn't centre around a wedding/funeral/bar mitzvah (I always get too stressed when aiming towards losing weight for someone else's occasion and the obsession is not healthy). Doing something for 30 days sounds like a good place to start, and pictures and measurements can…
  • Hello Dr Myers, If anyone drops out I would love to join this group. I've been struggling with a lot of things and weight loss/body image/self esteem is probably one of the biggest issues, so I'd really appreciate the help and support if you have any spare spaces. I'm in the UK so I'm not sure about time zones but I am…
  • I use to have this problem. I had my hair in a weave with the front bit left out, which I use to straighten (flat iron?) daily. When I went to the gym I put a headband on so where my natural hair got sweaty and wet and therefore went curly, you couldn't tell. I washed it as normal and made sure I got the shampoo in between…
  • Yeah the JE plan has compound lifts in but, but also has others on the same day. For example, today was lower body day, which, after I'd edited it, was * barbell squats * straight legged deadlifts * leg press * leg curl * leg extensions * Bulgarian split squats (i added these instead of the jump squat) * Seated calf raise…
  • Hi, I've been doing Jaime Easson's 20-39 Fat Loss Workout on bodybuilding.com and it's been going well, but takes longer than SL5x5. What I like about the JE plan is that it seems to cover the whole body across the three days (plus cardio on lifting days, and none lifting days). Just a quick question, I am looking to lower…
  • I have brown rice most days, also eat a lot of spinach or recently curly kale. I try and throw vegetables into most meals, even if they are just the frozen mixed vegetables. Beans, All Bran, couscous and bulghur wheat all, er, 'increase gas production', shall we say. Dried apricots as a little snack are also helpful.
  • Twining Earl Grey. With milk and one sugar. Heathen! I know!
  • I'm from London! Currently off exercise as I have knackered my neck/shoulder somehow but I'm normally in the gym three times a week doing a combo of lifting and cardio, as well as netball, trampolining, kettlebells and running.
  • 1) Go to sleep! 2) Have some water 3) Brush your teeth - sometimes the taste of food makes me want to eat more food, rather than actually being hungry. When I have brushed my teeth and all I can taste is mint, like magic, I don't even think about wanting to eat. 4) Plan it into your diary, maybe save yourself 150 calories…
  • I'm a student on an £800 a month bursary with bills of about £1000! Don't ask me how that works, it very rarely does. Anyway I don't know if you have them where you are, but I make my lunches for the week in one go with those chicken-in-a-bag meals, on a Sunday night. Colman's Season and Shake, at the moment my current…
  • I am definitely having implants/lift when I have lost all the weight I want to lose. I have gone from a 38HH at my biggest to a current 34E, which would be a fine amount if they were where they were supposed to be, instead of parallel with my elbows! I haven't had children yet (I am 31!) but I won't be having any children…
  • Who knew a thigh gap was such a big deal? I would love it if my thighs didn't touch, purely because it's uncomfortable and they have actually changed colour from light brown (rest of me) to a dirty muddy brown from years of rubbing and chafing. I accept I'm never going to look like the lady on the left in that picture but…
  • My first tip is find something you like doing. It may take a while and you might have to try a few things first but there's no point in flogging yourself to death on a stationary bike for 800 hours a day if you really can't stand it. I started off playing netball in a local team, and was inspired to start running by…
  • Hi! Feel free to add me. I also log in daily and even though I have been on here for about two years I am still learning :)
  • New app looks great, just getting used to all the different places the buttons and tabs used to be. Only issue I have noticed so far are that my recent foods aren't very recent foods, it's bringing up stuff I haven't eaten in months. The first few days were alright but since this morning it seems to have gone back in time…
  • I've been selling mobile phones for close to 12 years now so I have seen them come, go and come again (Motorola V3...what a waste of time!). At the moment I have an HTC Sensation XE and I love it but, let's go waaaaay back into time... Best phones: Nokia 6110/6210/6310/6310i Nokia 6500 Slide Nokia 7610 Nokia 6230/6230i and…
  • None of us are on this website because we want to eat loads and sit sown all day and lose weight, because we know if that were possible, we wouldn't be on this website. I started MFP at 192lbs on January 1st 2013, wanted to lose 2lbs a week. I'm 5'7 and was 30 years old (am now 31). Started on the recommended 1200 calories…
