  • For reference, I use a HRM while I swim. If I swim 1,200 yards in about 20 minutes (an easy-to-moderate pace for me), The HRM calculates that I've burned 240 calories. I'm 213 lbs at 5'11". That would be 720 calories per hour. To burn 1200 calories you'd need to be quite a bit bigger than me and maintaining an effort level…

  • 10 years ago I finished IM Madison. It was a horrible day of wet/windy conditions. I finished but it was brutal. I quit triathlons and fell way out of shape.
