  • I love running!! It makes me feel great--and is a positive start to my day. When I skip it, I feel like "ugh" all day.
  • That is totally a reasonable amount for me to lose in that time and I would love to join! I have been sticking to maintenance lately but really want to get those last few pounds off--such a struggle!
  • I eat 1200 (and usually a portion of my exercise calories). To make it work I need to have lots of veggies and lean protein. I think there are a lot of ways to make that interesting but those are also the foods I would prefer to eat. I do a lot of salads, recipes with zoodles, and pretty hot on spaghetti squash right now.…
  • I cant help on the recipe front but wanted to say what a sweet surprise for your partner :)
  • I tried the peppermint one and it was delish (if you are a peppermint person)! Its definitely quite strong on the minty flavor and lacks the dark chocolate to balance it out like in a peppermint pattie. My kids put chocolate syrup on it.
  • I love cooking! I trend healthy but also love to bake fun new treats for my kids and pot lucks. Tonight I am making a cheesy tex-mex bake for my son's class and inside out carrot cake muffins. For dinner I am making spaghetti squash tossed with goat cheese, roasted eggplant and red peppers and a little balsamic glaze :)
  • I didn't like the food police either--I keep my diary private and use updates to tell people if I cooked something new or different. I use my FL mostly for motivation and support and I don't think they need to be lurking my diary and then providing unsolicited "constructive" criticism.
  • http://www.busybuthealthy.com/homemade-quest-protein-bars/ I love these!
  • This. Exactly. I have gained 10 lbs in the last few years (which is almost 10% of my body weight--Im a petite one) and people tell me I look "wonderful, perfect, so fit and if I were to lose weight I would be too skinny." What is important is how you feel, everyone else's opinion is colored by their own feelings about…
  • I put roasted butternut squash in my turkey and black bean chili...its a nice addition to chili!
  • greek yogurt, almond milk, ground turkey, chicken breasts, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, red peppers, tomatoes, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, eggplant, grapes, apples, eggs, egg whites, basil and cilantro.
  • Its totally not odd and I have a friend that does it regularly. She just LOVES to walk and they usually give more than enough time for her to walk the whole course before the streets reopen.
  • I do have one though and I mostly use it for cooking recipes where the measurements are given in grams versus cups/tablespoons....I think an important thing to remember is that ultimately there are a lot of estimates in this process and there are certain tools that can increase accuracy of those estimates: scales for CI…
  • QueenMunchy, you are my MFP twin! And you also love to cook :) My greater concern is how this body image stuff affects our daughters because I know my daughter gets a lot of ideas of how she should look and "being skinny" from her dad and the current GF (blatant ED). OP, you didn't mention any kids but also something very…
  • I cant stand that it gets dark early--it really throws my day, my mood, and my sleep off. My mom makes fun of me because I really think I have that Seasonal Affective Disorder and I live in a place that is between 65-85 degrees year-round which she claims is not possible. Its not so much the cold (well, I feel cold but…
  • I just wanted to say I am so sorry for what you are dealing with. I cant offer any advice but wanted to empathize. My ex-husband was a Marine and just this past weekend he told the kids he couldn't bring their Halloween candy to my house because I am fat and I will eat it all. (For reference, I'm 120 pounds with a body fat…
  • I actually had a lot more success weight loss wise when I wasn't using a food scale and have gone back to that method. I use portion sizes that I eyeball and I feel like I have a pretty good handle on it based using comparison metrics--like deck of cards for a serving of meat/chicken etc. I do not have a history of EDs but…

  • When my kids are with me, we always sit down together for dinner. Its pretty much habit at this point and we rarely deviate from it. I can tell it upsets them if I have a babysitter coming and I don't sit down with them because I have a work dinner or later dinner plans. As a kid, during the week we ate with our nanny. We…
  • I had a Groupon for the Pier in Santa Monica and took them for a fun day since I didn't have them for trick or treating this year--We rode the roller coaster, ferris wheel, and scrambler! They had a blast :) And yes, he is still an a** and his current GF very clearly has an ED.
  • Cool, thanks for the info--its Los Angeles so there is a good bit of ambient lighting and lots of headlights but drivers here couldn't care less about pedestrians (or runners). I don't want to spend a lot of money but don't want to get hurt. Last winter, I just decided the safer thing to do was to read books by the pool so…
  • http://minimalistbaker.com/creamy-thai-carrot-soup-with-basil/ Im trying this soup tonight!
  • I didn't have candy but I made an awesome honey beer bread to go with dinner... but we usually take it to Wahoos Fish Tacos for free kids meals today. (My ex held onto my kids candy this year and told them they couldn't bring it to my house because I was fat and I would eat it all but that's a whole 'nother issue called he…
  • I am on 1200 because of my age and size...I have lost a bit and stalled but feel free to add me.
  • My problem is that my kids want to be generous with me...they keep on offering me their favorite candies. Last year my son made me a cute card that had tootsie rolls taped all over it :P Personally, I hate tootie rolls but know they are his favorite. I choked a few down to show gratitude.
  • Id go with a stair climber because unless you have a conveniently located stadium its hard to replicate outside...you can always run outside. Also, it takes less space and is safer piece of equipment to have around if you have kids. (I have a friend who was badly injured when we were messing around on her mom's treadmill…
  • protein powder sometimes makes me bloated.
  • This is so very accurate--we so often act like we have no self-control when it comes to food but are able to use self-control in so many other life situations. Reading this really helped me :)
