I'm obese and I lift. I currently can't get a handle on my eating to be losing consistently so I'm staying obese and still lifting. I can lift pretty heavy (I compare myself to the guys in my gym cuz I'm the only girl) so I don't feel too bad about being fat!

Friday was a BIG day in the gym for me. I did leg press, pec fly and deadlift in the morning. Then back in the evening to do some core work plus cardio. I hit it all pretty hard too, should have eased off on the intensity perhaps... Needless to say I was feeling pretty sore yesterday plus still had achey triceps from…

This is just what I needed to read - thank you. After 2 weeks of dreadful eating today has been a relatively good day. Tomorrow is weigh day and I'm worried! Whatever happens I can start again. Congrats on your determination and sorry that you've had a rough ride xxx

From what I've read elsewhere the floor counter is purely there for show and doesn't contribute to your calorie burn for the day. Can't remember where I read that though, maybe someone can back me up?

I am a vegetarian. I choose to be. Its my business. My husband eats meat. That's his choice. Its none of my business. We are not the same person and I would hate it if we were. I have tattoos - he hates them. I smoke - he feels very strongly that I shouldn't. The compromise is that I don't do it while he's around. He eats…

Just to add: I am around 7lbs lighter between the 2 sets of pictures and have continued with my lifting and gym visits, have been eating an average of 1800 calories a day (total not net) and feeling pretty happy with how my lifestyle change is going - managed to keep it up despite stressful times at work and feeling a bit…

Success! The wedding was yesterday, there is a LOT of scaffolding going on to fit me into it with minimal lumps and bumps but.... I did wear the dress I bought in a size too small! Excuse the mess in the second pic - its the post getting ready chaos!

I don't put anything into mfp as I don't know if Lifting burns enough calories to be significant. I do track all my workouts using an app called 'strong' so I can measure my progress and stick to my routines though!

Use it as a learning/ growing opportunity. By all means reflect on memorable comments pr experiences from your past but please don't dwell on them if you're only makig yourself feel wretched. Being the receiver of hateful or unkind comments is hard but it speaks more about the people who feel its ok to talk like that about…

I showed this thread to him. His response (which echoes the thougts of all members of my family) was "haven't you done well for yourself!" He is a diamond.... A very smug diamond.

This thread makes me appreciate my husband A LOT! He has used mfp in the past so understands what I'm trying to do but is not currently fussed about losing weight himself. Plus he is taller than me and more active so can eat way more. BUT he does pretty much all of the cooking in our house (evening meals); comes to get my…

I am obsessed with the graphs! I get really nerdy about them :D

I'm a teacher and I've set mine up as lightly active. It fits my day to day activities but if I go to the gym or go swimming I add it as exercise but never eat back all of the calories. Just recently I bought a fitbit charge hr and no longer log any exercise apart from swimming as my fitbit tracks it for me (only the step…

I'm from Suffolk - sounds like there's a few of us. I'm a (mostly) vegetarian, a teacher and into cycling, swimming and just started lifting. Feel free to add me xXxJess

Nearly! I'm in suffolk but I used to work in Norfolk. I also used to follow slimming world. Add me as a friend if you like!

Hurrah! I have some men to catch up with...(and then overtake)

I am lifting in a calorie deficit at the moment. How likely am I to see any real improvement in the amount of weight I can lift? Do I need to be building muscle in order to lift heavier?

If you have space try growing some things to eat - I have a garden full of veggies and it makes me much more motivated to eat greenery if its in the garden going to waste otherwise. If you're short on space/time window boxes and potted plants are easy to maintain but rewarding too! Good luck for your weight loss - don't be…

I feel your pain: I left mine on charge and the puppy had it a little while before I realised. Its not broken but got a bit chewed and has little puppy tooth marks all on the display - definitely looks a bit of a shambles but while it still works.... Looking like butter wouldn't melt....

I started strength training just over 2 weeks ago. I still have a lot of weight to lose so I'm combining with cardio and a little HIIT. I LOVE it but its too soon for me to being seeing results yet I think. Weirdly I'm finding sore muscles and improved form and performance are enough reward for now. My husband is my…

I have many shoes to choose from! Being overweight for a long time I am a strong believer in "you're never too fat for a new pair of heels!" These are (some of) my favourite selection for this dress: It also depends on what size my feet are, it varies a lot! UK people: the dress is from an online company called Elsie's…

Thank you thank you! Didn't think I'd get so many responses! I have had a look at 30 day shred on you tube and found a level 1 and level 2 video; should there be lots of them? Will this help me in ways that heavy lifting and cardio won't? Husband took me out for lunch today so calories already looking dreadful - trying not…

Thanks! I have a huge petticoat and some heroically high shoes to wear too. I do own a corset which my husband has volunteered to squeeze me into...

Thanks! I'll do a weekly test (maybe more frequently if I feel anxious) I don't know at what point I just have to order a bigger dress...
