  • We have different styles. I like a structured program with times, amount of days etc. He doesn’t workout in the traditional sense but keeps himself active/fit. His job used to be quite physical but as he’s moved up the food chain it’s become less so. He doesn’t let that make him lazy. While other guys in his position take…
  • How long has it been since you’ve used your FitBit? I would not start adjusting things based on one day. I’d monitor for a week or two and then go from there. I’d also agree that 16,000 steps is “Active.”
  • Back before becoming an Apple Watch convert I had a problem with my FitBit and Bluetooth. Basically what was happening was that I had too many Bluetooth things connected and happening at once. The FitBit was conflicted on what it should be connecting to. I moved away from all the Bluetooth things (iPad, speakers, computer,…
  • You can just turn off access to Apple Health Workouts for MFP. You’ll still have a record of your workout on the AW and won’t have to delete anything.
  • I was a pretty dedicated FitBit user and then my family bought me an Apple Watch last Christmas. After one day I abandoned the FitBits and never looked back. LOVE my AW4. It’s a lot handier than I could have imagined and it pushes me more than the FitBit ever did.
  • As has been mentioned keeping a calorie deficit is what will work. If you are looking to start getting movement into your day this could be a fun way to do it. Way back about 10 years and 89 extra pounds or so I started using the Wii Fit. A very mild seven minute game would have me winded and wanting to die but within a…
  • I tend to log “like” things I’ve already done recipes for. For me there’s not a whole lot of difference between a taco, taco bowl, taco wrap or Chicken Picatta, Chicken Angelo etc. I’ll log a recipe and then tweak the ingredients to fit what I’m making. I still log but I’m a little looser than when I’m actively losing.…
  • You don’t owe anyone an explanation so stop explaining yourself. “Would you like some of this?” “No, thank you.” “It’s just a bite, it won’t hurt you.” Look them directly in the eye and firmly say, “No, thank you.” If you refuse to argue/debate/explain they’ve really got nothing to work with. If they persist you can point…
  • When I tried it in the Instant Pot I ended up with a HUGE mess. Not sure what I did wrong. I can’t seem to make rice in it either so my rice pot for both. I’m positive there are recipes for slow cookers and IPs out there. Making batches is a good way to go though since you have it waiting for you.
  • Do you have a rice pot? I make Steel Cut Oats in four serving batches in mine on the brown rice setting. Takes about an hour and then I just divide and reheat. You could even set it up on a timer and let them cook overnight. I have never tried savory oatmeal but these sound good.
  • OP if your spouse is preparing your meals have them save the labels and leave the ingredients out for you so that you can get as close as you can. My husband does this for me and eventually started using the food scale on his own to weigh the protein out for me. It’s not perfect but it’s better than nothing and it also…

  • Yep, got to have fat and protein in my meals to feel and keep satisfied.
  • Do I love my Apple Watch? I adore my Apple Watch! I am a former FitBit addict and was really nervous about making the switch. Other than missing the familiarity of the FitBit app for about a week the transition was pretty smooth. I feel like the Apple Watch makes me work just a little bit harder to earn those calories…
  • The Stainless Steel versions of the Apple Watch have Sapphire Glass.
  • I have had a string of FitBits (Zip, Charge HR, Alta, Charge 2, Flex 2) and liked them all for various reasons. Never thought I needed a smart watch and then my family bought me an Apple Watch for Christmas. Man, I love the damn thing. I sync through Pacer and so far it has served me well. That said, it sounds like you’d…
  • I have both lost and maintained as a slug at times over the last nine years. Right now I walk and it gives me a couple hundred calories a day. I eat them happily but what I’ve come to realize is that I can’t depend on always having those calories. Things happen, you get hurt or sick. I’m getting older and I know I’m not…
  • Former FitBit junkie who received an Apple Watch for Christmas. FitBit is a great device but I feel the Apple Watch takes it to another level in addition to being a lot more functional in other areas. I concentrate much more on getting my exercise and activity rings closed and let my steps fall where they may. I was…
  • Laps around the island/dining room table while watching Days of Our Lives. :D Since I switched to an Apple Watch I now focus more on closing my exercise and activity rings. Makes me work harder and I’m no longer hyper focused on the step count.
  • I eat three snacks and three med/small meals a day. For me, higher protein, some fat and moderate carbs is what works. I never eat carbs on their own. I tend to avoid large amounts of fruit (for whatever reason it gives me wild swings) and do not drink fruit juice or full calorie pop. Things like donuts, muffins, cereal…
  • Well FWIW, I think you could easily eat half your exercise calories and still lose 2+pounds a week. One of the biggest problems with fast weight loss is getting too hungry and then binging. Like I said in my previous post the way MFP is set up you are meant to eat your exercise calories. I would at least eat some. If you…
  • Yes, your BMR. How much do you weigh? Did you put all your stats into the Health app? 1350 seems low if your resting energy is 2140.
  • I’ve been a FitBit user for years and I’m fairly new to the Apple Watch. It seems it’s taken about a week and a half to “know” me. I trusted my FitBits after the break in period and the Apple Watch seems on par with them so far, maybe a little more conservative. Right now the Health App shows my “resting energy” as 1,161…
  • My question was more does FITIV send the correct numbers to MFP but as far as I can tell it doesn’t.
  • I’ve read a bunch of threads where people have had credit for their steps removed after logging a workout from the Apple Watch. You haven’t experienced this? If not, that’s good to hear. What do you mean adjust MFP settings on the Watch app? Which settings?
  • There’s nothing wrong with eating at night or after dinner. Mindlessly eating without accounting for it is what will cause the problem. My advice would be to redistribute your calories so you have room to munch later if that’s what you want to do. And account for it. If you’re not logging these little snack sprees doing so…
  • I lost the majority of my weight as a SAHM with twin toddlers. One of my worst habits was eating whatever, whenever. I would say the biggest things that helped me were putting myself on a schedule and asking my husband to wrangle the kids for an hour so I could exercise. I think somewhere I got it in my head that because I…
  • French Market in New Orleans Square. I don’t lose my mind but I don’t try to eat light at Disneyland either. You’ll be burning a decent amount of calories with all the walking. I average about 25,000 steps a day there and we take a 2-3 hour break in the afternoon. I usually come home (after the sodium release) a…
  • I lost 89lbs total and am coming up on nine years in maintenance. But, it was the only time I was ever obese in my life. I’ve been overweight over the years but would usually snap myself to. A lot of reasons came into play creating the perfect storm to eat my way up to 235+ pounds and stuck around for a couple of years.…
  • Awesome! You are very welcome!
  • I make “Cold Start.” 1 Carton Fairlife Milk (whole), 1/2 container (8ozs) Sweet Cream Natural Bliss and two tablespoons Oui yogurt. Stir it up, set on Normal or Medium depending on which IP you have for 8.5 hours, go to bed. When the timer beeps in the morning put directly into the fridge, DO NOT STIR. In 5-6 hours you…
