What am I missing? Why can't I sync my health app (apple watch) with myfitness pal to track exercise?

I googled how to sync apple watch with my fitness pal and an article came right up. I went though the Health app and allowed it to talk to MFP, and it worked right away.

Mine only tracks PURPOSEFUL exercise. So I have to start a workout session in my watch and then stop it when I'm done, then it transfers into MFP as an exercise and gives me a calorie burn. It does NOT track and transfer steps for me (which I don't want anyway). I only want to log and track actual exercise so its right on for me.

Apple Watch & MFP don’t play nicely together. I had issues when I first got my watch in March & someone suggested that I download Pacer, and sync Pacer to MFP & Apple Health. It’s worked out since I’ve done that. I get a double adjustment after tracking a workout & syncing. I delet the Apple Health one since it’s a double. At the end of the day when you sync, your Move calories will match your adjustment. Set your activity level to not very active.

Make sure MFP app is installed on both your watch and phone.
I have to open the health app, the movement app and MFP app, on my phone, then make sure the same wifi is connected on my Apple watch, which for some reason they sometimes aren't; then they all sync together.

I don’t have MFP on my watch. Just phone.
I had it on my watch but found it wasn’t necessary for it to work once connected through Pacer.

You can just turn off access to Apple Health Workouts for MFP. You’ll still have a record of your workout on the AW and won’t have to delete anything.
