  • Every time I slip up on tracking I gain weight....for me, this has to be a lifestyle thing...for others maybe not...I see this as a life long habit...
  • Care home work and losing weight is tough...long hours and you need to keep going...keep lots of mini-snacks around...
  • For me it is sometimes a huge struggle! I think people that say it's not a problem are kidding themselves ...hee hee....or don't need this app....
  • I like Ogopogo's reply...replace your habits. So simple, so obvious. Yet never though of it in that way before. Thanks
  • Well, the burgers don't have the Heart Healthy tick and you can google the health report ( food inspector) for individual branches.....I haven't had a Maccas since I came back to England and it wouldn't be my first choice...I guess the point I was trying to make is that you can make good choices even in such a place...
  • Hi Shaymini, I'm 51 and not had a period proper for about for about 3 years and so far have had about 10 years of flushes and night sweats. I am now weaning myself off the meds for that (NOT HRT), but yes...the weight is an issue. At the moment I'm concentrating on eating right and building up my fitness...
  • Oops...only after I posted did I think some people might not think wacky was a compliment...to me, it means quirky and individual. When I look at some of the selfies and fashion the young girls wear today I just sigh as they all look the same...you can't see the real person for the image...you ladies all seem pretty…
  • I am 51 and newly returned to UK after 11 years Down Under. Have lost my weight loss support network so my weight has crept up. Hopefully getting back on track. I now live in Chester, UK.
  • I am an Australian citizen but now live in the UK.does that count? I hear you had a bad cyclone this week. My WA friends are battling some bad bush fires at the moment, near where we used to live. I must admit I don't miss the bush fire season.
  • Hi I'm new to the community and new to being 50+ too. I live in Chester, UK just on the border with Wales. My job is stressful and often sedentary but I also have the joy of travelling into North Wales several times a week, so can't complain! + I recently returned fromAustralia having emigrated 11 years ago...then my…
  • I don't know about the UK but in Australia McDonald's now shows the calorie/fat etc content and actually they DO have healthy meals. there's a red tick system on food called Heart Healthy and Maccas do have some red ticks...not for a double Mac but a grilled chicken wrap, grilled fish, salads. Basically if your friends…
  • Yes...go to weightwatchers...they will teach you how to track so you can enjoy stuff like pizza, burgers...and you can make homemade pizza, low far, small crust, home made burgers etc
  • Brilliant advice from all the above....I feel inspired to continue...
  • Different things obviously work for different people which is why it's so good to share with each other. I guess both our diet needs to be healthy and portion controlled, and we need to exercise too.
  • In reality none of us became overweight overnight and the weight loss won't happen the same way. Also, the quicker you lose weight, or in larger amounts the more likely to re-gain...slow and steady wins the race. And if you fall off the waggon, well..it's not the end of the world. Sometimes I would berate myself and then…
  • You probably still need to think about changing your exercise as apparently our bodies get used to a certain level
  • It happened to me but I discovered I'd set too high a goal for weekly weight loss
  • Welcome
  • The fact that you've made this start is a huge beginning. Most people don't get overweight overnight, it's the same with weight loss...slow and steady, one step at a time.
  • I think re-evaluate what you're eating, check your portions. maybe try something new in your diet and also in your exercise. And, are you drinking enough?
  • Back to the original question...!! Nutrition guidelines suggest carbohydrates at every meal...so if you don't get bored of jackets...go for it..
  • I am 51, English and now working in management so long hours at computer or in car...
  • Welcome....I am 51 and struggling to lose the weight

  • Well done for wanting to change and yes, you have a lot going on with your children. One thing you can do with your family is maybe buy your own plate that is smaller (I use the diet plate) but even a normal but smaller plate you can look as if you're eating more than you are.
  • Well done, you're an inspiration!
  • I have found Tesco sell small sushi in the lunch section (96g) so I have that for lunch. or I get pre-prepared low fat salads. I like a bagel also which I make in the morning with half an avocado and some meat. Planning and preparation has been my key. And I am out on the job a lot so I've seen the day when I spent an…
  • Can't tell from this if you live in UK or not. Golden rule is to work out your list and stick to it. better still..online grocery shopping stops the old hand jerk when stuff jumps into your basket inadvertently! And supermarkets put extra stuff at end of aisles to lure you in. Buying in bulk may be cheaper e.g pasta etc…
  • A good tip is to get travel portions of stuff which helps you with your portion control. There's a new product out in UK supermarkets called Urban fruits which are delicious.
  • The art of healthy living is to factor in the things you do like in a healthy way...for me cheese is a weakness so I don't deprive myself but work it in to my daily routine or have extra if I feel like. But I'm. mindful that I cover all the necessary food groups for health
