  • Oh yeah - not far at all. Small world!
  • Southeast corner of the city - Mt. Washington
  • Ha ha! I remember my dad saying that when I was young, only his version was "paid a nickel to *kitten", but only farted."
  • Born and raised in Cincinnati here. True, the weather's not always ideal, but I like it here. Nice compromise between big city and home town feel.
  • win the lottery
  • Don't feel sad! You had a great deal on your shoulders. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, and you had to save your strength for more important things like raising your daughters. Now that they are grown and successful, you have time to focus on these other things like setting your family straight on the fair way to…
  • I had my lower jaw surgically broken on both sides about 30 years ago to try to grow new bone and extend it. My mouth was wired shut for six weeks, so was on a completely liquid diet. If you haven't had the surgery yet, I agree with prestocking and preprepping some favorite foods. Maybe you could preload some items to find…
  • I love string cheese as a snack. I'm a little weird, but I actually like the way it tastes when it's a little warm. It's vacuum sealed, so I wouldn't worry if it wasn't super cold. I also love to bring baby carrots or celery to snack on, any kind of fruit, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, air-popped popcorn, rice crackers. Hope…
  • If I were a widow raising two kids alone and went out to dinner with my family, they would be falling all over each other to pay my bill. That's just sad! Ask for a separate bill and tell them to eff off if they complain about it. Or order the most expensive house champagne, surf & turf, and dessert and split the bill -…

  • Hubs starting thinning in his early 20s, so I knew what was in store. My only rules were no rugs and no combovers. He shaves his head now - looks good on him. Gotta have the right shaped head for that, though. I think the shorter the better is the way to go for anyone losing their hair.
  • Horse walks into a bar. Bartender says "Why the long face?"
  • First, congratulations on your new baby! Second, my hat is off to you if you're even thinking about gentle exercise 11 days after your C-section. I walked around like an 80-year-old woman for a good three weeks or more after my C-section. As others said above, I would definitely check with your doctor about exercise before…

  • @pudgy1977: There's a website (meetups.com???). If that's not it, just google meetup groups and you should be able to find the website listing groups in your area.
  • Sorry to hear that. I've been there and it sucks. Try taking all your stress and putting it into a hard workout - it'll distract you from eating, make you feel better, and burn some calories in the process. Best of luck to you in finding new employment!
  • I've used Crest White Strips. They do work, but they tend to make my teeth sensitive. My suggestion is to cut them down to size so that you're only whitening the teeth that show when you smile. Good luck!
  • @ToniLeeAnn82: That's awesome that you did that! It has to be very gratifying for a teacher to know he or she is appreciated.
  • My third grade teacher, Mrs. Hamberg, was like a mom and a teacher all rolled into one. She would say "I like the way Johnny is working so hard." Then the rest of us would work so hard to be noticed by her next. A brilliant tactic. I just saw her a few years ago - when I was pushing 50 - and she knew who I was immediately.…
  • I had several nuns as teachers throughout my Catholic grade school upbringing. A few of them were very nice people and great teachers. A few of them were not. I guess it's the same with public school teachers...some good, some bad. I just know that at our grade school reunion, Sister Gerard's name came up more than any…
  • Wow - these stories are crazy! Makes you wonder why someone would pick teaching as a career if they hate kids so much!
  • Here is a previous post that might have some helpful hints: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10610754/grocery-shopping-for-a-broke-student#latest
  • Maybe moonflower???
  • @Hamsibian: Yes, that's good advice. I guess I need to work on stepping back a bit. :)
  • @SabotageinStilettos: That's awesome - congrats! Mine is actually still a junior so has another year to go. Yes, I've heard that yoga is great for stress - that's a great idea. She's currently seeing a urologist at the "premier" medical center in town, but he kind of rubber stamped us - wasn't too impressed. I think it…
  • Awesome - thanks for the tip!
  • Yes, she loves to run but has been sidelined by a foot injury. She's trying to get back into it now. And she has a good friend group - I know that helps. And yes, I probably overworry a bit. It just seems like kids have a lot more to deal with than when I was that age (a very long time ago...ha ha)
  • I'm in the same boat. I have a large waist but not so large hips. In order to fit to my waist, the back of the pants look like I'm wearing a saggy diaper! I've had decent luck with TJ Maxx and Old Navy, and also second hand shops. There's one where I live in Cincinnati called Clothes Mentor that I really like. You can go…
  • I've been to Nassau and Freeport. It's beautiful there! Always a warm breeze blowing, and the water is so clear. The market areas are really cool and the people are very friendly. You'll love it!
