  • The best advice I can give you is to reframe what you tell yourself. No one goes through the process of losing weight and regaining health with a perfect score. We all fall short some days. We walk away for weeks. But, the main thing to focus on is this: This is not just a "thing" you're going to do "until". It's how you…
  • You can log your training in the strength section. Calories can be logged in the cardiovascular section. Type in strength training and it will pop up. Just realize that these calories are only an estimate.
  • OMG - Did she really? Did you really? Did they really? I can't believe it! That's just so wrong! You are so right! <end sarcasm>
  • I don't follow NROL, but have been lifting heavy for about 2.5 years. I was told by other experienced lifters to put away the scales for the first few weeks. Temporary weight gain is very normal when you begin a lifting program. With only 10 - 15 pounds to lose, it will be slow going anyway. Get out your tape measure and…
  • Move more. The best exercise is the exercise you will do every day. I was very heavy when I began 3 years ago on MFP. I started with walking. Then I became interested in kickboxing. Then, body weight workouts on YouTube. Then lifting. Then hiking. Then yoga. Now, I have a consistent program of heavy lifting, hiking & yoga.…
  • Every day you add on to that number - is getting you closer to your goal. Think about where you'll be in one more week, one more month, one more year. Don't let one minute or one day derail you. Just keep going. We all have days when we screw up and don't follow through. We all have people in our lives that don't support…
  • There is always a choice - give up or keep going. What happens if you keep going? What happens if you give up? Which do you want more? Motivation is fleeting. One day you have it - the next day - POOF. Get up every day and just do your best. Eat healthy. Find some kind of exercise you like enough to keep doing it. Build…
  • Everything we do in weighing and measuring is a rough estimate. Calories are an estimate. Your actual weight is an estimate. You know what works? Get as close as you can while weighing and measuring, then pay attention to your weight trend over several weeks. If you're losing - keep going. If you're not losing - readjust…
  • Keep eating healthy and at a deficit and you will lose weight. Only you ( and your doctor) can tell you what exercise you can do - but upper body work with some hand weights would be my recommendation to start. Google upper body training and see what interests you. You definitely need to find some kind of movement for…
  • Well, you've lost weight at a great clip for 7 months. You are staying active - very important to overall health - doing things you seem to enjoy. If you are eating wisely (80% healthy/20% other) and feel good - carry on. Looks like you are making sustainable changes and that's what will bring success.
  • More reasonable, but still high for one day. Your title/original post are very confusing.
  • What? 1000 lbs? Okay.
  • Could be the new meds - but one thing I have learned in the 3 years I have spent on MFP - there are many excuses we can use. We have to learn to do what we need to do, regardless of what life throws at us. Is it easy? No. Is it necessary? Yes. When you are ready to do the work to lose weight, you will. You have to be 100%…
  • I have fought hard to overcome binge eating. It has taken all of 3 years to learn to eat in a healthy, sustainable way every day. My brain sees a cheat day or meal as a free for all. I have learned to work some treats into my calories almost every day - that way I never feel deprived and I don't perpetuate the cycle of…
  • Motivation comes and goes. Your best bet for success is to begin putting healthy habits in place - for eating healthy, logging, exercising. These habits will keep you going when your motivation fails you. Good luck!
  • If you just signed up yesterday - take one thing at a time. First, meet your calorie goals for a couple of weeks. Then start watching and trying to balance your macros (protein, carbs, fat). Then tackle the micros. Cutting out sugar is not necessary to lose weight, unless you have health issues. If you try and make huge…
  • I've been doing this for 3 years now - down to my last few pounds to lose. We really haven't changed our food habits too much - I just learned to eat less and maybe add another vegetable. How can you meet in the middle? You're willing and he's not? Probably not going to happen any time soon. Back off some and just keep…
  • Envy, jealousy, and resentment are a waste of your time and energy. You have your goals in place - why not just be content with that? Focus on all the good you have going and you'll be a lot happier.
  • I used to believe this, too. It's false. If you want to be outdoorsy again - start doing the things you want to do outdoors. Hiking, biking, running, playing softball, playing soccer, etc. do not have a weight limit. The more you do it, the healthier you will get. More importantly, why are you putting your life on hold?…
  • . Not my point - but you are correct. I was just pointing out that your skin needs to be exposed to the sunlight to have any benefit. With all the use of sunscreens - even in lotions and make up, it eliminates any benefit you may have received for that 15 minutes.
  • Although it is important to protect you skin from sun damage, if you are wearing sunscreen or your skin is covered with clothing - it's almost impossible to absorb enough sunlight to help your body make Vitamin D. Something to think about.
  • You are a very young woman, but your thought processes around food seem a little skewed. I agree that you should talk to someone who can help you sort out all your ideas about food. Do it now, so that you're not 40 and still dealing with all this. Best of luck.
  • 1) Weigh (with a scale), measure, and log every bite you eat. 2) Find something you love to do and then do it consistently. 3) Eat a normal diet. It's eating at a deficit that helps you lose weight. 4) Forget motivation and good feels - build habits. 5) Be patient with yourself. Realize there is no finish line.
  • Two things: 1) When you are ready to lose the weight, you will. It's hard. It takes patience. You have to make the choices and do the work. No one else can. 2) Building exercise/health habits trump motivation. If you rely on motivation, you will be posting this every week. Get busy.
  • Yes, it's sometimes hard to accept compliments. It becomes especially hard when they are followed by the word but.
  • As parents, we can never fully comprehend the positive and negative feelings caused by our words. We talk to our children constantly. It's hard sometimes to know what words will stick and do damage - even if our intentions are well meaning. <3
