Weight loss should come from a calorie reduction, not from increasing exercise. Exercise is for maintaining fitness. Do you do strength training? [/quote] No, I admit, I do not do strength training. I usually go to the gym and am completely baffled by the lifting equipment.

I've been resting for almost a week now. My last 8 mile run was last Tuesday, Dec 8th. I'm going to lose all my momentum...

Hmmmm, I like this. I will try it your way. No more chips straight from the bag!

I like your idea of staying in motion. you're right in that you're not even really hungry. just keep myself engaged in something and it will pass.

I'm always looking for the salty/sweet combo. I usually have bananas and chips. terrible, i know. I will def have to try your healthier salty/sweet alternative.

This, too. I always eat before going grocery shopping. I always stop by IHOP and have lunch right before I go. IHOP is generally a nutritional desert, but I figure that wasting 1000 calories on one day at IHOP is better than wasting more on chips, Oreos, strawberries with Nutella, veggie straws, chicharrones, cream soda,…

[quote= My usual course is to either drink a cup of coffee, which not only fills me up but also makes my stomach hurt and makes me not want to eat (sad face) or I brush my teeth. I don't want to lose that clean mouth feeling by eating . The mint flavor also makes me instinctively unhungry because everything tastes horrible…

lol, you're totally right. don't have the temptation in the house in the first place. i suppose if i start there it would greatly decrease the opportunity to spin out of control. i guess i need to stop grocery shopping when hungry.

wishiwasarunner, you're totally right! I need to look at the big picture. I will continue to work on it.

Every now and again there are times when I have something bad, like chips or swedish fish (yum yum) in the middle of the day, and I just think, screw it, the whole day is ruined. And then proceed to pig out for the rest of the day. I've seriously got to get out of my head about it.

tincanonastring, you're totally right. I start feeling like, ugh what a horrible day, I just want to go home and sit on the couch. But, the times that I've pushed through and gone to the gym anyway, I felt so much better, and I was able to channel all that frustration into an awesome workout.

Thanks everyone for your comments! It really helps to know others are going through the same struggle. And it's great to know you don't beat yourselves up for the little slips. I suppose that's a big key to getting back on track. Owning up to it then getting back down to business. Thanks again!
