  • maybe pick up some vegetarian cookbooks? my current favourite is "Thug Kitchen" https://www.amazon.com/Thug-Kitchen-Official-Cookbook-Like/dp/1623363586 it swears at you (is a gimmick) but the food is delicious, all veg (lots of different proteins options which it explains as well), and the recipes are easy to make.
  • same. refrigerator works for me too. only other thing I'd say is when you first get it - leave it upside-down for a while before you're ready to use it - that way it starts mixing itself. once open... mix fully, then keep in the fridge.
  • after long days I'm kind of lazy about eating in the evening too... I usually cook in large batches and pre-portion stuff into single servings. what I'm not going to eat in a couple days I toss in the freezer. means I have a good variety of yummy/healthy meals that just need to be heated. or if I'm super lazy... hard…
  • I usually have oatmeal before a long run, sometimes a hard boiled egg too depending on length of run (am veg but not vegan). Also coffee... I'm not a coffee drinker so a half cup is a nice caffeine slap as well as system cleaner before I head out :) Sometimes if i've been up early for breakfast and travel to a race i'll…
  • this. stretching is important but do NOT underestimate the importance of glute and core strength. I've had a nagging hip issue for a few years due to running - working on the glutes is the only thing that's started to help. everything else has just treated the symptom.
  • Very exciting! I ran the Dopey this year at Disney - if you're running in January it's the same weekend. So much fun! As other's have said, it's really about personal preference. use your training runs to figure out what works for you, what you can stomach etc. Personally, I've done 4 marathons now, and I didn't run any…
  • I vote for new lacing techniques too... I had issues a few years back - was told there's a nerve or something that goes along the top of your foot (I'm sure there are many who know better than I do if this is true or not). But if you re-lace your shoes skipping a few of the holes then rejoining in the last holes it helped…
  • Yup! lots of runners... we're not all gym rats  running and triathlons are my background but am learning about the benefits of weight training! For running there are a few groups - the Long Distance runners mentioned... a C25k group (Couch to 5k - for new runners) and one in the middle Happy Feet ps. am not overly…
  • I'm the same way. At the worst times I can't get food in but find liquids tolerable so I make fresh juices or smoothies (with anything like fruit/veg/nuts/yogurt - just blend it up and get it in) or protein shakes... just to get the nutrition in. I'm also a runner so when the stress/anxiety is up I force myself out the…
