I had a chocolate brownie today- and lots of other 'bad' stuff because I went to a food festival. But I have banked enough calories esrlier in the week to bring me out on top.

I have found the worst thing to forget is clean knickers. Climbing back into sweaty k ickers post shower is a horrible experience.

The body is an organism, not a machine. Fluctuations happen for all sorts of valid reasons. Weighing daily will cause you to worry unnecessarily unless you accept that.

UK sizes are 2 below US sizes, so a UK 10 is a US 14. We don't have odd numbered sizes either.

My initial goal weight was 147 (I am 5'7") I remember being this weight about 20 years ago and liking it. However, I am now 166 and can't see where those extra 19 lbs would come from. So now I am aiming at 155, which is into healthy BMI with some wiggle room. Once I am there, I will re-evaluate. I suspect I will keep…

How much more uncomfortable camping is, even with a bedding roll, without a built in fat cushion.

Part of it for me is wanting to get wear out of clothes in that window of opportunity between them being too small and too big. I am trying to maximise the benefit of the Goldilocks period.

I find the elliptical more challenging than the treadmill, and I have progressively increased time and resistance. The ones at my gym are easy enough even for a twit like me to work out. I suggest you ask the gym staff for advice on how the kit works, though - it's what they are there for!
-
True. And it takes longer to decide what to wear since I have choices. I no longer think I look meh in everything so it doesn't make any difference.

My goal is 1200 too, deliberately set that low to force me into exercise to earn more calories. 1500 is MUCH easier; those 300 calories make a huge difference. I encourage you to find time to exercise. Walking is effective and free.

I love rpm. Sadly my instructor, with whom I also used to love Pump, is leaving

Trying on dresses to go back to school in in September, I find ALL of my UK size 12 dresses fit again. My good interview suit, on the other hand (14) swamps me. I wonder if I can get it altered.

Of course not, and your final sentence is not what I am saying. Being and feeling positive is always going to be a good thing. I have, however, witnessed what I described - a distorted inversion of the benefits of positive thinking. I wish I hadn't seen it, but I have.

This would be funny were it not for the flip side; this sort of thinking causes some people to believe that they deserve the bad things which happen to them, which may sometimes be true but more often, I would suspect, isn't. I hate the thought of people with, for example, inoperable cancers, being led to believe that the…

Do people actually believe this stuff?

OK, that was fun. Pity I couldn't stand up without falling in! The 2nd half was kayaking.

I promised myself last summer that I would not look like a whale in a wet suit by this summer, and would give it a go. 3 stone down, I think it is time. I will report back on the pain factor if I survive!

As soon as they absorb the milk I cannot tolerate the texture without gagging.

From My Home go to Check In. You can change your weight there.

Eating out with friends "sometimes (not often)" won't derail your progress even if you can't log accurately. The resentment which might grow as a result of NOT going out and missing that social time might.
-
Very do-able if you start now. I am 3 stone down since the beginning of March. Good luck.

I am 5'7" and 51. I started off at 210 pounds and am now about 170 and still heading downwards. *I would ask, why does it need to be running? A key component of my weight loss has been regular, sustained, briskish walking, generally outdoors. At the gym I use the elliptical as that takes the joint impact out of the…

Given that definition of "working out" and the price of gym memberships, equipment, kit etc. is it any wonder?

Oh crumbs! If you have just had a baby, let alone two babes, all bets are off! Give yourself a chance to deal with this major change in your life properly nourished for the task. Congratulations! :)

I do 1200 net. I know it is unsustainable per se, but I set it that low in order to force me into exercise. I will open up my diary for a bit so you can see how it works for me.

At a pound a week, you would be at goal in 35 weeks. That would be, roughly, February. (I think; I am bad at Maths). It is likely to slow down more, though, so that puts the finish line farther away. I have also dropped to about 1lb a week and have felt cheesed off about it, but have given myself a stern talking to about…

People from different areas of my life keep referring to me as "the incredible shrinking woman". The scale says my progress has slowed down - bound to happen - but the comments keep me from becoming discouraged.

You are my height. You are NOT my age or weight. If I could have words with my 24 year old self, I would tell her that avoiding becoming my 51 year old self would be a good goal. Your profile photo shows you to be beautiful. Staying beautiful is worth working at.

Yes, but when you are emotionally invested in the process - like most of us are - all logic goes out of the window when it comes to applying it to ourselves, however obvious it seems when other people are involved. I speak as one whose weight loss has slowed right down, as I knew it would, and am having to give myself a…
