If it motivates you, it's a good thing, however I wouldn't waste the money..

Try to keep my mind from telling me I'm being lazy when my body needs the break. :)

1. Is it better to gradually build up to a regular exercise plan or is it better to dive right in and push hard from the get-go? Just get started. Begin now where you are. Do what you can, listen to your body. If you start to get sore, take a small break (a couple days). If you start feeling pain, ease back and make sure…

THIS ^^^^ So true on all counts!

Walking... I love walking now... I now walk at least a mile every day. Post office, corner stores, bank. Feels good and saves gas at the same time.

I'm heading in this exact direction! I can't wait!

I've been dropping sizes so fast this year that I've started shopping Goodwill because I was afraid of spending money on more good clothes only to toss them in 3 months again. I'm finding that good stuff can be found in those smaller sizes!

Added hanging knee raise to my exercise routine about three months ago.. I managed a set of five "Full Pike Pulls" before doing my usual sets of hanging knee raises. Win!

It's no biggie. Just pick right up, right now and off you go. A week of vacation isn't a life change, it was vacation! Consider it a celebration of your great life and get back to work. :)

bump.. This thread is simply too good to let it get buried. I'm nearing 80lbs lost because of it. @vismal's the man!

1) Couldn't walk up the next block, or even my stairs without breathing hard. 2) Concentration was off. 3) Stress management was poor. I'm down nearly 80lbs and coming up on my first "fitness birthday" on October 14th. 1) I can RUN! (short distances, but yes!) 2) Concentration is back! 3) I'm in a high stress situation…

I'm a very causal drinker.. Generally, I'll have a couple wine coolers one night a week.. Last weekend someone gave me a bottle of Smirnoff Ice, Screwdriver and told me that I wasn't allowed to waste it. I've lost nearly 80lbs, and let me tell you I was really stumbling around my dog walk after that bottle.. Alcohol is…

Moved from Obese to Overweight this week... It's an awesome feeling..

Nah. There are some many exercises I want to do in on my gym days.. I get them in once a week.
-
Yup.. I'll vouch for the treadmill.. Diet has removed the weight, but the treadmill has built endurance.

Nick, Just checking in! I'm down 68lbs and falling! A couple dimes more and I'll be hitting you up for some advice on how to do the bulk/cut. (After I completely re-read this entire thread to make sure that you haven't already provided the answers I need on page 25. :) ) I'm hitting the weights hard (bench/dumbells) to…

Friend me up! I promise if you lose that 50pounds, you WILL get back energy! You got this!
-
As of today, another 7 pounds lost.. Total of 68lbs! My daughter says I'm no longer the "Fat Dad".

Headphones... A... must... :) You have picked the PERFECT time of year to start going to the gym. July is the month of the year where there are less people in the gym! (By the time they start coming back for a couple months in January, you'll be very comfortable with everything.) I tend to have that "50 yard stare" when…

I'm better 67 Guinea Pigs...

Got a new ID with my ACTUAL weight listed on it. The last one was five years ago, they look like two different people. The weight lie on original ID is 13 pounds less than my current... NOT.. :) I'll be there soon.. this time for real.

@taylorstege431, Regardless if your decision, you have been give excellent advice in this thread. Either way, get started. period. You'll learn along the way and hopefully make adjustments and minor course changes as you press forward. Be open to learn from others who have learned ahead of you and are posting good…

25 sit-ups in my first set. {After I had already worked out for two hours) (when I added them to my exercise routine two months ago, I could barely squeeze out 5 in a set.)

When you whip out a notebook and pen at the buffet to log all of your food choices.

Well done!

You look so much happier!!

I got a light scolding today by the folks who run the gym for leaving my weights on the bar the other day. 1) I didn't actually do it, 2) I LOVE the idea that they thought I did it! A year ago, they would have never assumed it to be me! :) Big win!
