As someone who hasn't missed a login in close to 10 years. I have left with about 25 OG friends to Lose It app. I still log into my Ghost account here just in case MFP brings back the BEST feature which really kept friends together. This was probably the worst move by any app that I have ever seen. It's unfortunately a…

After 9.5 years, MFP took the only feature away (newsfeed) that really kept all my OG friends cohesive. Whoever made this bonehead decision I hope is fired. About 30 of my closer friends are on Lose it app now and we are all hooked up again. Some like myself just click the MFP logo daily because it's tough to let a 3500+…

I am torn whether to just leave MFP with my over 9 year streak. Most of my long term OG friends have jumped ship to Lose It and now just have ghost accounts on here. I am torn what to do because the biggest part of MFP besides losing 200 lbs is the connection and the news feed with so many people. Many I have met in real…

What an awful decision by MFP....I feel like I have been gut punched by this app. Sure, I can live with the constant bugs and have over the years....but taking away the news feed was such a terrible idea on so many levels. I am sure MFP can view their metrics and see the mass exodus.

I gave up most refined sugar about 4 years back and keep my carbs down. This is a challenge, but the benefits far outweigh any discomfort. Also, for the past 6 months I eat a Ketogenic diet and my body does well with less than 40 grams of carbs a day. Sounds crazy, but the health benefits are real.. Look up Dr Berg on…

It absolutely has to be a lifetime lifestyle change for it to be permanent as I too have yo-yoed like many others have over the years but until it got life threatening around 50 years old I finally got it through my thick skull. Now that I have a couple years under me I actually enjoy eating healthy and I realize that I…

Hello to all MFP users! I'm a 54 year old man who has had some tremendous health problems from years of abuse due to poor diet and an overall destructive lifestyle which included terrible nutrition and a sedentary lifestyle. Two and a half years ago , I was on 9 different medications with multiple health issues including…

Yes, that's a nice bonus to the weight loss as well. Thanks Chris

Try to get away from machines if possible. Start using free weights with strict and proper form. Machines are better than nothing at all, however because of the fixed range of motion there is a higher probability of injury. Using free weights involve so many more stabilizing muscles and core as well. At our age it's…

Its also a good idea to eat a healthy meal before you go out to a restaurant. Even though you may be at a restaurant, it doesn't mean you can't make the healthiest choices. At the Chinese restaurant, ask for steamed veggies, get one of the lighter dishes. Don't take any leftovers home with you and immediately cut the…

Not sure how to add?

One of the reasons I decided to weight train was to add some muscle especially to help with the loose skin. I do have quite a bit of loose skin around my midsection, but I would venture to say that could only be addressed surgically. Does not seem the skin will retract or shrink any more. At this point, its all relative…

Wish I would have gotten this lifestyle ingrained into my thick skull 20 years ago. I guess as we get older, we get wiser... Or frightened.. Or begin to realize the important things in life.

Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to me!

Yes you can

Age is truly not an excuse. I am certainly living proof of it. Keep at it and you will achieve your goals. Consistency is the key.

Very well said my friend!

I didn't do any weight training whatsoever for about the first year and stuck to various types of cardio such as treadmill, walking outside, elliptical, recumbent bike and whatever else I could do each time I went to work out. After about a year in which I had lost some significant weight I wanted to start weight training…

Great Job Roger! You should be very proud of yourself as I am and an added positive is our loved ones no longer have to worry a out US.

One other thing is for me the weight came off relatively quick initially because of how much I had to lose but now in the last year or so I'm really only focused on losing two or three pounds in a month because my body is so efficient in holding the weight. I really don't concentrate on being a specific weight rather I…

I think those goals are absolutely fine. I started working out about 2 times a week as well but I started to actually enjoy the gym and the people who I met at my gym and along the way as the weight started to slowly come off. Now I have gym Buddies wanting to work out with me and many times we plan in advance what we're…

I sure do go fishing lol. Being obese like I was didn't stop me but made it difficult. I used to get winded casting my rod hehe

My initial goals were to lose weight and stop feeling sick and tired. After slow and steady weight loss, I started adjusting my goals towards fitness and heart health. I wanted to enter a 10k run which I did, and in. 2 months I am running my first half marathon. I started swimming about a year ago and have kept it up 2-3…
