Depends how you are training. During my cut I emphasized low weight, high volume and would be in the gym 6 days a week. This was the best way for me to get shredded and to conserve my muscle mass while on a deficit. Now I do low rep high weight twice a week and my volume work are all paused reps, twice a week. I eat plenty…

Best bet is to follow reverse dieting. So let's say that by the time you reached your goal your daily calories were at 1200 and your maintenance is 1800. What you don't want to do is automatically increase your intake back up to 1800, as tempting as it is, and as much as you deserve a reward. After months of calorie…

At the end of the day if you're at a deficit you'll lose weight. So hey, if you're permitted 1300 calories a day in order to lose a pound a week and you're so inclined on eating a pint of Ben and Jerry's that usually are between 1100 to 1400, by all means give it a try and report back!

I'd say it depends on how much you're working out. If you're going from a typical three times a week routine to a six day split then obviously your TDEE will go up significantly and your maintenance calories along with it. My maintenance is about 3150 and I workout four days a week. I personally enjoy calorie cycling as it…

Walking is my answer to cheat meals. I'll binge big, then walk home which is about 10 miles (15km).

Depends what your goals are. Personally I like to maintain the muscle I've worked so hard to cultivate, so when the time comes to shed some fat I want to do so in a way that limits how much of that muscle I lose in the process. In these times I make sure I am eating a higher percentage of calories coming from protein which…

It's really nice having 3600 calorie days. Just prepped my first one for tomorrow, feel sated already. Just doing the cycling this way in hopes of being able to have such indulgent days without gaining weight. Came here to see if I was completely wrong. Still not sure.

At the end of the week I know it's about the overall consumption more so than what you take in on a daily basis. (Although I'm quite sure eating 11k calories twice a week and fasting for five days would result in different body composition!). I just like having a few days where I can really fill myself, and the weekends I…

Whatever for? Personally I prefer boneless because I will get a much more accurate calorie count from weighing them. So far as recipes, for me it always comes down to select vegetables and my choice of sauce. Just need to get experimental in the kitchen, I'll even cover them in different flavored hummus and bake them in…

Guess no one has the first clue huh? Well I upgraded to premium just to facilitate this gameplan and I'll report back on how it went, but hey, if anyone has an opinion I'd love to hear it!

This cut I specifically used the two month Arnold program, I did not follow the recommended diet since it is just shilling his products, nor did I follow his cardio protocol but otherwise I followed the very taxing program to a T. This is definitely a program you don't want to consider using until you have a good deal of…

Protein shakes are a great way to reach your protein goal without raising your fats or carbs in the process. If you like to be on point then sometimes it is the only way to do so. I do find it funny that people still have this notion that it isn't "real" food. I've often had people ask me "so, are you on the protein…

I'm quite OCD about my tracking, entering every single thing down to the gram even if it is very light stuff. So every couple of weeks I will permit myself debauchery. I won't even add it to my diary at this point. Like last night I ate a sharwarma, a foot long so-cal hot dog, a meatlovers poutine, oreo cheesecake, nanaimo…

So you made some bad choices but here you are now taking the first step towards a better you. Embrace that, embrace this supportive community, and do your best to get into the routine of meal tracking and general good dietary practices. Don`t be so hard on yourself or you`ll stop before you start.

You just need to change your attitude. If you're serious about attaining your objective you'll suck it up and get into the routine of it. If you can't manage logging than you likely can't stick to a sensible exercise program or healthy eating patterns and you will fail. Things don't magically fall into place. There is no…

It's really hard. I've had people in my life that would tag along to the gym, but then they make a habit of not showing up, or wanting to chat more than workout at the gym. In the end I find it better relying on myself. I find time for people otherwise but won't let them prevent me from achieving and maintaining my goals.…

I meant more as in putting on fat since you'd be loading up with the most calories right before not doing anything for 8 or so hours.

I'm doing good thanks. I got more work to do on the inside than the outside but it helps to like what one sees in the mirror.

I was doing 16/8 during my cut. Worked great for me. Felt great throughout. Would have about 20/30%(mostly fats and protein) of my calories at 2pm, workout around 4:30pm, and then eat the remainder postworkout around 6:30-7:00pm (90% of my carbs contained therein).

Do you guys think it would be more significant to body composition if you're at a significant surplus?

I find that the larger my caloric deficit the higher I want my protein intake to be as well as my workout volume. Doing everything I can so that the weight I do lose does not come from broken down muscle tissue. And it worked well for me, consistently tracking with a body composition scale from InBody I lost 15lbs of…

I make sure that my meal with the highest amount of carbs ends up being post workout, and usually it ends up being the largest overall meal as well. It's something I adopted when I was cutting and following intermittent fasting.

I'm actually Canadian, eh. You and others who have said something in the same vain are right to some extent. Obviously there is a part of me that lets me be affected by the opinion of others. All part of overcoming my insecurities, residual from childhood. I do carry myself with pride though and try to maintain positive.…

Kind of ruins it if you turn into a dick. Just stay consistent and you will. 5'9"/175cm. Doesn't cut it on dating sites but otherwise I'm okay with it. Apparently ideal weightlifting height. Thank you very much. Starting off with Stronglifts, transitioned to different strength training routines like variations of 5/3/1,…

It's good to have some reservations about weights. Along with the many routines available online, you'll find even more videos on youtube concerning form/technique. You get a good idea of the overall quality of the instructions by the more thoughtful comments. Personal trainers are great to guide you, just check their…

Definitely seems like a wise idea to focus on compound movements before jumping into isolation work and 6 day splits. If you're new to lifting and figure out how to conservatively bulk you'll make crazy muscular gains in your first 6 months if you learn the squat and deadlift.

Funny how that works out. Guess I could be if I wanted to, but honestly I've been single for the better part of seven years without more than a handful of casual encounters and I think I'll just classify myself as asexual at this point, it isn't worth my while. The HAES people are always the first ones to point out how…

I've definitely incorporated fitness as a major part of my life and I don't think anyone would accuse me of starving myself. Currently working my way up to 3000 calories after my cut, and had cut between 2800 and 2500 calories. Like the person above, I'm not that interested in my weight so much as my body composition and…

The supplements are usually an overpriced joke. I think most pills are 50mg, which is quite useless when you need 4700mg in a day. Thing is, as the previous poster mentioned, as it is not required it is almost never included on the label, despite potassium being in pretty much everything. If you want as accurate an idea of…

Last time I cut I monitored my salt so that I'd fall within the recommended daily intake of 1500mg. I got shredded, very vascular looking, but I consistently felt like hot garbage. This cut I continued the same trend. Did some various reading stating that these recommendations are geared towards the average sedentary…
