I fell on black ice back on February 12, 2010, breaking my right ankle. Then 3 years later, to the day (February 12), I fell on ice (not black this time) and broke my ankle again! Elaine in Lansing

The youngest was 3 at the time, he's now a Junior in high school! I now have 7 grandchildren, with one more coming this April. I work for the State, we're highly involved…

I will never go to that vet clinic ever again! I was dissatisfied last time with the lack of compassion from the brown haired lady that took care of my puppy prior to the vet check. This time she was worse. The lady that was going to give her the shot asked her ( brown haired lady)to bring some peanut butter and instead…

I've been meaning to say this for a while... All you lovely ladies who live in the NW, that is my origin! I now live in mid-Michigan, but was born in Pullman, WA and from there my family moved to Seattle, Reedsport, OR and San Mateo, CA, before moving to Michigan! Even though I don't have memories of Pullman (I was about 2…

Last night after work, I met my daughter and 2 of her daughters (ages 8 & 6) to experience Silver Bells in the City, which is an annual event here in Lansing. We started in the Michigan Historical Museum. It was fun. We started at the museum, which is close to where I work. We walked from there to see the parade, then back…

My daughter has commented that she keeps it GF in the house right now because she has little ones (1year old - 8 1/2 years old). That way, if the littlest one is eating a snack cracker, she can eat any leftovers without worrying about being glutened. She is also VERY careful about where she eats outside the house. When she…

On the topic of going gluten free: I have 2 daughters and 1 son (all grown) who have Celiac disease and have to be gluten free. We have been working with this now for 10-11 years. While it's true that GF baking can be higher in calories, my daughters, at least, have gone the route of not doing much with pasta or baking…

Hi everyone, I went to my doctor yesterday for my diabetic check up. I have been dealing (or not dealing) with Type II Diabetes since I was diagnosed in March 2010. My labs this time showed the lowest blood glucose level I've had since the beginning (my A1C was 7.2 and I have had it as high as 11). I am crediting MFP for…

Here's a hint for tracking water. I have a cup that is approximately 16 ounces at my desk at work. I then put 3 rubber bands around it at the beginning of the day and as I finish each full cup, I take off a rubber band. It helps me keep track of how much more I need to drink and at the end of the work day, if all rubber…

Mia, I hear you with the desk job and lack of walking or exercise! I struggle with that as well. I look for ways to get more walking in during the day - I take the long way around to/from the bathroom and on breaks and lunch, etc. I am also trying to walk more by walking home (almost 2 miles) after work, when the timing is…
