  • You're consuming the amount of calories per day that would be eaten on a medically controlled low calorie diet. Perspective - I've lost 120lbs to date. I've been gradually decreasing my calorie goal as I've lost. I'm still losing a good amount each week (1-3lbs). My current calorie goal is 2000 per day. There is absolutely…
  • Thanks, that's what I needed to hear! It's starting to ease, my abs still hurt if I laugh hard or sneeze but it's at that satisfying discomfort stage. My legs are getting better, slowly though! I'm going away for the weekend so not much opportunity to do much activity wise, but hoping to go for a few walks just to keep…
  • So I did an hours cycling in the gym last night (longer than I intended but I worked out how to use the built in TV so spent my hour watching The Great British Bake Off!). Very gentle cycling, resistance varying between 1-5, heart rate consistently between 125-135. I think my legs feel a little better today. Certainly…
  • My back is fine, actually! It's my legs and my abs (although abs are much better now - it's just the legs!)
  • Thanks for the replies. As I said, I was fully anticipating some sort of discomfort after having not done any form of exercise beyond walking my dog for around 10 years! Discomfort is symmetrical and coming on gradually. I'm not sure I'd have fared much better if I did the class without any weight, never mind with the 6kg…
  • Thank you once again! When I can walk again, I'll grab a tape measure and get measuring. (Did my first kettlebells class tonight. Oh-Em-Actual-Gee do I ache!)
  • Thanks everyone :) buying that outfit was nothing short of traumatic, but the sales assistants were incredible! They received a card and flowers at for their troubles Buying clothes is tough at my height! There are quite a few non-specialist retailers who stock leg lengths long enough, and they generally go up to a UK size…
  • That's interesting - I'm just following the MFP suggestions as I go. I can easily drop by a few hundred calories - some days (today for example) I've been eating more calorie dense foods in order to make up the numbers. My main aim is to eat a healthy, balanced diet. I'm vegetarian, and some days it happens that my calorie…
  • Thank you - wedding is 2 years away (October 2017) as both fiancé and I have some shrinking to do. I figure that gives me just over a year before needing to think about dresses!
  • Interestingly, the photo on the left just popped up on that time hop thingy on Facebook, taken 3 years ago today. The photo on the left was 2 weeks ago
  • Thank you :) It's weird that I don't see it myself, but people are commenting on my weightloss, even my antisocial neighbour who I've never actually even spoken to before (I've lived here 2 years!) has commented. I think having a numerical goal is going to be important in knowing when I'm there. The fact that I could…
  • I don't ever remember being this weight/size. I've always been very overweight, so I don't really have a previous weight to aim for. I do resistance/weighty stuff at the gym and have recently discovered group classes. Going to kettlebells on Monday evening and really hoping I enjoy it. Until recently, exercise has been a…
  • Thank you for taking the time to reply :) I have several goals, scale based and otherwise. I also have a fat-bucket list of things I want to do where previously I wasn't able to due to my weight. One goal is to be able to walk into any standard highstreet store and be able to buy clothes. Top half is good, achieved that,…
  • So, the morning after the night before. The salty snack definitely helped my cramp, will have to remember that for future reference. This morning I'm surprisingly ok! Legs are fine. Nether regions are much better than expected. Back is achy but nothing a few days of not lifting huge dogs at work won't fix. I think group…
  • I've had a wander and eaten some cheese and crackers - should top the sodium levels up, and I ate cereal and a banana when I got in so glucose and potassium should be good too. Not soreness, cramp as in involuntary contraction of the muscle. It's currently 2:20am and since I had a salty snack, I've actually been ok :)
  • Currently dying of leg cramp - any advice gratefully received!!
  • Instructor man suggested the back so we (I went with a friend) could go at our own pace without feeling pressured to keep up. I purposely positioned myself as far from the door as possible as the socialphobe in me said there's no way I would walk past everybody to leave halfway through!
  • Actually it wasn't so bad. If it's something I'm going to do regularly then I will when I'm a bit smaller. I'm still 17st (238lbs) currently and while my top half is diminishing rapidly (I have bones visible!), my bottom half is still huge! My back was the real issue and it's always going to be. Need to work on core…
  • Oh how true is that! :D If it didn't hurt so much, I'd LOL!
  • So. Spinning. (Now that I've consumed some chocolate after nearly crying because I couldn't open the wrapper!!) Awful. Completely awful. Verging on torture. I couldn't keep up. I was fully prepared for sweat. I was expecting pain. I'd envisaged standing up. I should have anticipated sprinting. But nothing could have…
  • Thank you again for the replies - very useful tips! I'm even more sure that I'm going to die now! Need to be prepared as I'll have to get ready at work before I leave - I don't have any cycling specific clothing yet but I'm hoping that cycling in some form or another will become "my thing" because running really doesn't…
  • I will. And if you never hear from me again, it's because I died.
  • Thanks everyone, I feel a little better now :) I find going to the gym a real chore and I get bored easily. I think group exercise will be the way forward for me but I've never yet had the courage to actually go! I've lost 115lbs so far, and in order to keep it up, I'm going to need to find some sort of exercise that I…
  • I hadn't even considered the fact that I might fall off! :s My biggest concern is my back hurting - I usually use the sitty down bike rather than the sitty uppy bike as my back quickly starts to ache due to an old injury
  • Going to try and get there early but I work until 7pm in the next town over and then have to drop the dog home first (he comes to work with me every day) - I'm more stressed out about getting there on time than I am about actually doing it I think! I'm going with a friend so it should be ok....!
  • I've lost enough that people I've not seen for a few years don't even recognise me. I'm down 115lbs currently. Logically, I know I'm smaller, I gave to buy smaller clothes for one thing. But mentally, I still don't see it. I can see it if I compare photos of myself, but I don't see it in the mirror.
  • I log everything - I weigh once a week so it's about an overall weekly deficit for me. I've had weeks where I can be in excess of my calorie goal all week and still lose. One bad day needn't be the end of the world. I ate far too much ice cream yesterday (damn you B&J!), so it just means that I need to find time to go to…
  • I don't understand - forgive me if I'm misunderstanding, but you're taking an appetite suppressant and complaining that you can't eat enough?
  • Looking at your diary, your diet isn't what I'd call balanced or varied - maybe that's contributing to your digestive issues?
  • At 6' and 183lbs, I'd think that you're in the healthy range for BMI? I'm 6'1", I started at 25st 5.9lbs (355.9lbs) and I've always said that my initial goal is 15st (210lbs) and then I'll reevaluate, with the aid of a professional if necessary. Currently 249.6lbs so still a way to go!
