This is very helpful. Logging could be very easy for me because my grocery at home is already geared towards lowfat/low Carb, but feeling unsure makes me not want to commit.

If you are a good logger ( at least for a period of time) it will work. You get to see an adjust it accordingly. You will eventually start choosing better options that fit your calorie goals. [/quote] Thanks, I feel more optimistic.

It could be a matter of timing of carbs. When I am sedentary which is most of the day, I consume lots of fibrous foods and protein, but not carbs other than fruit, but at the end of the day, hours before my workout, I have a meal with the 40% carb ratio or maybe even 50%. Any fiber can do this. go for lower cost options. A bottle of now foods glucommann lasts 2 months and it is only 10 dollars. Even metamucil will work. glad you see caffeine as a tool. I do caffeine on and off as well. other tools are weighted vest, ankle weights, hand weights. Unshelled sunflower seeds when I want to snack in front the tv.

The first 10 pounds is always water weight if you have not been dieting and exercising before. So she is right on schedule with an appropriate amount of weight loss at the beginning of her new program. It will obviously taper of to 1 or 2 pounds a week after.

Garcinia only works if you have glycogen spill over. It will prevent those carbs from turning to fat. Anyone who exercises regularly reduces glycogen enough to handle a donut or 2 without excess glycogen storing as fat. G

I am afraid of weighing myself because even though I work out alot I eat alot and I don't want to know if I am fluctuating upwards. The last time I bit the bullet and got on the scale expecting the worse, I actually lost 4 lbs. I think being afraid of weighing has everything to do with a lack of commitment.

Treat all fats as the same. If you have grilled chicken with avocado or dressing treat it as the same as fried chicken. When i used to do this, I would budget my fat intake to include nuts and other healthy fats so that in the back of my mind I know half avocado and grilled chicken may be the same as salmon or fried…

Shakes have been a godsend for me. My favorites are Atkins chocolate shake, muscle milk 100 calories and hydroxycut 100 calories. I love shakes because they are versatile. I have only one per day. If I have it in the morning, it prevents hunger or I save it for 2 pm the time when my energy levels lag. Be creative with it.

I do use it but can't guide you on it. I do glycogen depletion, into fasting, fasted workouts, into ketosis back to Carb load ( great for cheat days ). I lost weight but I am still working on balance.

So go with it. Lose the need for a perfect start. Plan your overeating instead of running from it. If today you start overeating at 11am after breakfast, the only plan you should make towards dieting or 'starting' is to push that time later and later until you conquer an entire day.
