This^. The first poster may be right that you might need to shake things up a bit, but the first thing is to make sure you're logging accurately. If you're not using a scale or measuring things correctly, you could be wildly off as far as how many calories you are eating each day.

It is! Might take a moderate amount of tracking down though. I think Amazon has it available bundled with a pad but It might be cheaper if you called a couple game stops or went through ebay.

Give yourself a clean slate. When you hit your goal, you won't care that you slipped up a bit. On the other hand if you just let yourself go back to your old ways entirely, you'll wish you had kept going right now. You can do this!!!

I'm not sure what the total was but I do know that I was consuming nearly 4000 calories a day from any combination of milk, beer, and sugar sweetened beverages. Pretty sure I was drinking actual water only about once every week or two.

Log it and move on. I don't think skipping dinner is the way to go for exactly the reason you mentioned, you're going to end up getting hungry which will increase your chances of reaching for something unhealthy.
