You definitely need to increase your calories a bit. You could also do cardio and eat back the calories you burned so you don't feel as deprived.

19. Freshman. No sports (Don't have time--to busy watching Netflix). Just starting my weight lifting journey :)

Protein can't turn into fat or muscle. It simply aids in the repairing of muscle. Best of luck!
-
Don't worry about it. Just continue with your normal deficit. You might have set yourself back a day, but in the long run, it doesn't matter. Best of luck!

My favorite is a scoop of chocolate/strawberry protein powder with a cup of 1% milk, and 1 slightly frozen banana blended with some ice. I could drink it all day long.

I wouldn't recommend them. It's a stimulant, so it raises your heart rate unnaturally to burn more calories. I'd rather do that with exercise than with a pill.

Unless your deficit is significantly less than your BMR, or you are not consuming enough protein, I highly doubt you are losing any muscle. A majority of your weight (usually 4-10 pounds) is usually your glycogen stores being depleted, which is a completely natural effect that happens when you start to lose weight. These…

Did you accurately calculate your TDEE with the Harris Benedict Formula, or the the MyFitnessPal calculator? Have you been lifting weights? Have you been consuming more than usual amounts of sodium?

Listen, as most of you have probably realized, I'm not an expert on Leptin. I know that re-feed days have helped people (me included) get great results who were struggling to lose weight with prolonged deficits. I noticed that when I hit around 22% body fat, I could no longer lose fat anymore, and others like me have had…

I sincerely appreciate your non-hostile response. The article I posted: http://www.jci.org/articles/view/45888 and http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/sclark60.htm talk about Leptin levels affecting your energy expenditure "Since its discovery, leptin has been found to have profound effects on behavior, metabolic rate,…

Those were studies done 6 years prior to the one I posted. The study of Leptin is still relatively new. Also, if people here are coming for confrontation, you are not going to find it. I do deserve the ridicule for my mix up of hormones because it was a careless mistake, and I apologize. I came across Leptin because I've…

Yes. Here is a article that explains Leptin in terms of weight loss: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/sclark60.htm And here is a peer-reviewed article: http://www.jci.org/articles/view/45888

Dig a little deeper into the functionality of Leptin. It also regulates your energy expenditure (BMR).
-
Okay guys... I made a mistake. Insulin was the wrong hormone. I meant to say Leptin

Plateauing usually happens more frequently the lower body fat percentage you are. What are your stats? Plus, I wouldn't really call 1 and a half weeks of no weight change a plateau.
-
Compute your TDEE (you can find formulas online). Eat 500 calories below that.

There are a couple of things that could be happening here. There is a possibility that you are not accurately measuring the calories that are going into your body, but I highly doubt that considering you have already lost some weight. Or your body's insulin levels are too low. I suggest having a cheat day (100-200 calories…
