This post makes the most sense to me! My dad just recently developed diabetes (he's 72) and I have also suffered from depression in the past. I truly believe it was due to my diet, too much sugar and bad carbs. Once I get started on the sweets, I keep going, so for me it's best to just cut out the added sugars entirely and…

The package of eggs I have in the fridge has no sugar, and the sugar in Greek yogurt (plain, no fruit or sweeteners) is lactose.

My energy level is returning - I have been adding more calories, just not anything from added sugar and that's helping. I'm like you - if I have a little added sugar, it leads to cravings for more. Best thing for me is to just avoid it.

I'll have to check that out, thanks!

I've just never enjoyed the smell, taste or texture of meat. I know there are lean choices available but I can't stomach any of them at all.

Thanks!

Good luck to you too!

Eggs and yogurt are two of my favorites so I'll try that.

Yes, I'm cooking with coconut or olive oil, having walnuts or almonds as snacks sometimes too. It's probably just an adjustment period that'll hopefully go away in a week or so. Tomorrow will be my longer walk/run (7 miles) so it'll be interesting to see how that goes. I do usually eat the calories back that I burn…

I'm not sedentary, maybe lightly active - 40-60 minutes a day about 4 days a week is average for me. Trying to replace sugar with whole grains, eggs (I don't eat meat), veggies. I'm the type of person that doesn't do moderation very well, if I have one chocolate kiss then I have 10, so I wanted to knock out the sugar…

Angel, hello! I'm so glad you're not with that guy anymore! He didn't seem to want you to be healthy. Congratulate yourself for taking a step in the right direction. You mentioned asthma - are you on medication for that? I've learned that physical exercise decreases my stress level and makes me feel amazing, but I had to…

Hi! I have two things in common with you, maybe 3! I'm also in my late 40's and have shrunk in height (used to be 5'5"", now 5'4"). I've yo-yo'd all my life, currently 176 at home but always 5 lbs more at the doctors office. I am determined to learn to eat healthier than I have in the past. One thing I am focusing on right…

Remember to look back on all the progress you've made so far, that's incredible! I started this about 6 weeks ago, lost 4 pounds, then went haywire 2 weeks ago and gained 2 back. I was eating high sugar, high carb stuff in response to being extremely nervous about an upcoming class I was going to teach at my job for the…

I'm in! New to MFP and discussion groups too but want to be successful and hear about others success. I lost 15 pounds over the last 2 years but this would be good motivation to keep me on track for the rest. Kim Age 49 CW: 179 GW: 155
