  • If you wanted to do weight watchers strictly for the support, I think that is OK, but I would not buy the food, it is more economical and healthy to buy your food fresh and prepare it yourself. At the end of the day the "system" is successful because if you follow it you will be in a calorie deficit, I think if you track…
  • You should try to hit your macro target as best you can. If you are a little over or under each day it most likely will not make a difference as long as overall you are in a calorie deficit (if you are trying to lose weight) or at maintenance (if you are trying to maintain). Within that macro target you can have pizza, ice…
  • I use to be like this and it caused so much anxiety and pressure. I had to change my mindset. The key is if this is a lifestyle change you will use employ forever than it should not matter if it takes you 3 weeks to lose the weight you want or 50 weeks. Once i started to think differently about goals and not make it about…
  • Regardless of what happens in the past the only thing you can control is what you do today. I have fallen off many times but the key is to refocus and start back up again. I've stopped worrying about hitting a specific goal and really focused on the tasks and activities I need to accomplish each day to live healthy.…
  • That is sort of the curse of being aware of your body and your progress. Before I really started focusing on getting myself in-shape I never really obsessed over my body or how I looked. Once I started to lose weight and look better I am starting to nitpick every little thing. I try to not obsess about it but sometimes I…
  • I have the same issue so I started to leave some of my carbs for later at night. I'm a big cereal fan so like @deannalfisher I make sure that is part of my macros a few times a week and that seems to help me significantly. Also, I will sometimes make a protein brownie and add some Halo or Enlighten ice cream and its like…
  • Think about why you started this journey, where you started and where you are now. This always brings me back if I'm having a bad day. Goodluck!

  • Awesome!!!! Definitely old pics to remind you of where you have been....keep it up @sbantonio
  • To feel good and have energy. Like many, I have yo-yo dieted my whole life and the one thing i noticed is when I am overweight, eating bad and not moving I feel like garbage. After 10 years of up and down weight gain I changed the way I thought about it. I didn't set a weight goal, pants size goal, body fat percentage…
  • Living a healthy lifestyle is like any other part of your life, you will have ups and down. Having a bad few weeks with your nutrition and/or exercise is like having a few bad weeks at work or having a rough patch in your relationship. There was a reason you started this journey and it was that reason you were successful.…
  • This will vary from person to person. Some people dont like drinking their calories, some people feel bloated after protein shakes so it really just depends on your body. For me, I usually drink a shake in the AM on the way to work (its just convenient) and post workout as I feel actual food fills me up more than a shake…
  • This Exactly ^^^ :)
  • Sodium i would not worry about as long as you drink a lot of water and exercise regularly. Sugar I would not worry as long as you keep the the refined sugars out. Between fat and carbs i will usually cut carbs only because I don't like going too low on my fat intake.
  • You should try to get a rough estimate of your TDEE and then decrease maybe 5-10% from that. It will be a moving target as you lose weight your energy expenditure will decrease. I'd adjust every two weeks since there is often a delay with weight loss. If after two weeks your average weight loss is about 2-3lbs/wk then you…
  • This^^^^ HA!
  • It's unfortunately not an exact science, there are some calculators online you can use to get a base but then it is just trial and error. Try for 10-15% deficit and see how that works and then after a couple of weeks adjust. Don't just go straight to the lowest calories because then you will have nowhere to cut once your…
  • Insane...you just don't realize the calories on some things. It's great you are being more mindful of it, when I really started tracking I would be shocked at how off I was in terms of calories. I might look at something and think 4-500 cals and it turns out to be 900 or 1000, do that a few times a day and it adds up very…

  • Agreed that there is no benefit, despite what they say, to postponing this and I think it is important that we know what we are ingesting. That being said, I think we as a society are good at blaming others and not taking responsibility for our own actions. While this is a set-back I don't believe it should hinder anyone's…
  • I would not put much stock into these scales, they are typically very inaccurate. I would pay more attention to how you look, how your clothes are fitting and if you are increasing strength in the gym. If you wanted to get a more accurate measure of body fat get some calipers or just a tape measure. Bunch of youtube videos…

  • As long as you are still in a calorie deficit, the popcorn will have no impact on your weight loss. And eating it at night as opposed to eating it another part of the day also has no impact. I eat things like Halo top ice cream that has carbs in it a few times a week before bed and has no adverse effects.
  • This ^^^^. You can eat what you want in moderation. I always give the example of the opposite of this, someone who eats foods with high calories, high saturated fat, high sugar and sodium, 90% of the time and the other 10% they make healthy choices, that 10% will make little to no difference from a positive standpoint in…
  • From someone who has yo-yo dieted for many, many years I have realized that the key to all of this is to ask yourself, "Is what I am doing now sustainable for a year, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?" If the answer is no, then do something else. I was the guy who cut out carbs, went to the gym 6 days a week and lost a lot of…
  • I agree, all of these protocols have the same thing in common, they are tool to put you in a calorie deficit, that is it. Whether it be IF, Keto, or any "new diet" if you are taking in too many calories you WILL gain wait regardless if you are fasting, eating no carbs, ect, regardless of the protocol. The key here is if…

  • I got premium primarily for this feature as I have different macros for training vs. non-training days. The $50 is worth it to me.
  • For me, anytime I am cravings something I have some go to macro friendly snacks that I will eat instead. Typically after I eat it, the cravings will go away. For instance, if i am craving something sweet, I will make a protein brownie and for 120 or so calories and 25P, 2C and 1.5F I have a very sweet chocolate treat.…

  • At 1200 calories, what is your overall deficit? To answer you question, it sounds like this does not happen often, if that is the case don't overthink it, go back to your 1200 calories tomorrow, especially if you are saying you are usually under, for the week you will still be in a deficit so I would not worry about it.

  • I quoted this because the answer is that it depends on you. For some people eating light works better while others may need more food in their system. One is not better than another. I typically will eat 50-60% of my carbs before and after my workouts. Usually oats before and some fast digesting carbs after but again, that…
  • It amazes me how people point to just one thing and say "this is good or this is bad" our bodies are so much more complex than anyone realizes and its silly to think that doing just one thing over another will make any difference. But agree with everyone else, don't pay any attention to it, if what you are doing is working…
  • Only do the low carb diet if you can maintain it and it works for you, there is no weight loss benefit to Keto vs. another protocol, as long as your Protein and Calories are the same what will matter is CICO not carbs. You can 100% gain weight on a keto diet if you eat too many calories. This^^^ Only do the low carb diet…
  • If you are trying to lose weight CICO will ultimately determine success however having the right macros mix can definitely help. The thermogenic effect of food is important, you can google it but here is a good link. livestrong.com/article/512626-list-of-foods-with-high-thermic-effect/
