Install extra outlets for gadgets, monitors, entertainment, etc. before installing equipment. Make it easy to run wires and cables before the gym is put together. Maybe add some mirrors to make the space look bigger. Extra lighting helps as well.

Do you have a pedometer? If not, I recommend Fit-Bit model "Zip". It is a bare-bones pedometer I always carry in my pocket. Syncs with My Moto X Pure. Seems to be quite accurate in step count and miles walked, and of course, there is an app.

2008 heart attack. Trying to stay ahead of the next one. I was already fit when I had the first one, but I know I can be more fit for the next one. :|

We all suck at this, that's why we are here! :) One step at a time...that's what I tell myself.

If you can barely do one wall push up...then start there. Keep trying until you can do one good wall push up. After that see if you can do 2 wall push ups. Get to where you can do 10 good wall push ups. After that, revisit the "girly" kind. You'll make it. Keep going. You CAN DO IT!!!

Hi Amy. I was 5'4 until I went bald. Now I'm 5'3 and working on my fitness. Welcome to MFP! As Tiny_Dancer suggested, check out the many posts in the community.

I did a 10 mile hike today. You bet I'm taking a day off tomorrow.

Great job! I love doing push ups. One of my favorite exercises. Keep at it.

I have bookmarked this discussion. Please let us know how it works out. I'm always shopping for a new treadmill just in case mine suddenly fails. I went to Amazon to check prices and of course, the cheapest ones bubble to the surface. I'm in favor of wider running belts and super quiet operation. Even the expensive…

I have an old (1990s) ProForm treadmill and I can still get parts for mine. You can get parts from https://www.treadmilldoctor.com At $150, I'd say that's a good bargain providing you can test it out. If it runs quiet enough for your needs, and all the controls work while you test it, then you may do well. Inspect the…

Bikerchickmomma, I'm not there yet, but looking forward to retirement. I would love to spend more time cooking and trying out some recipies that I find here at MFP. At 61, I find myself still busy with work and many hobbies. Enjoy!

30 minutes a day. Take Sunday off. If I'm really feeling good, I'll walk or jog at a higher pace, or stress level on my treadmill. I find that the treadmill set to about a 5 degree slope gets my heart rate up so that I can rack up about 300 calories per session. I use a heart rate monitor and track my heart rate using an…

If you don't mind hairballs...I'm in.

Thanks to main stream media, the hopes of many have been destroyed. Main stream media takes delight in spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt. That is how they make money. You won't hear them reporting on the many success stories here on MFP. I believe hope remains for those folks who WANT to make a positive difference in…

I LOGIN everyday, 3 to 4 times a day, just to stay on track. It's a healthy habit and keeps me on track. Use the MFP phone app. There's no excuse for being lazy. Either you want to lose weight, or you don't. Your spelling is a good example of being too lazy to type out whole words. The same lazy habit will sink your…

I'm not that smart. I won't be able to stop counting calories until I'm in the grave, and even then I'll probably continue just to make sure I don't gain any more weight.

When in doubt, I weigh my food.

I stagger in and out of jogging on my treadmill. I do a 5k about once a week. HIIT on some days, and a 3k in between. Makes me feel better, but I always count the calories. The treadmill is the icing on the journal cake. Journal, journal, journal! Been at it for at least 60 days now.

A good scale that displays grams, a calculator, and a brain smart enough to use both.

Earplugs are also handy.
