Do you have a food scale? Sometimes (a lot of times) we are eating more than we realize or not tracking with fidelity. How often do you "guestimate" the portion sizes of your meals?

You are empowered to make the best choices for yourself! You got this! Something that helped me was having fun with cooking/nutrition and exercise. Making new recipes and challenging myself to try something new each week really helps me feel good about the choices I am making. Exercise comes in all sorts of activities- you…

This really isn't necessary to do unless you are interested in the mechanics of scales and the weight of your work clothing. Or if you're having fun with it. (I am a big advocate of not weighing yourself too much because I've driven myself SICK over things like different scales, clothes on/off, did I just poop- how much…

If you haven't checked it out, Reddit has a nice group called /r/1200isplenty that includes recipes and daily updates on what people eat. Perhaps that can give you some inspiration!

Congratulations! You're fabulous and should be so proud of yourself for the dedication!

I love them. They're my favorite things in the world and are super great if you are good with sauces. I definitely understand people disliking the smell. I just run them under water in a strainer while I prepare a sauce. They're the staple for all of my pasta dishes and ramen dishes. Reminds me of tofu- basically…

My goal weight ranges from 128-135. 128 is a single pound "underweight" in reference to BMI for my height. This amuses me. 135 because I may just get too lazy for those last 7 pounds!

I hope I get to join in on this fun!

I weigh myself every day in the morning but log on MFP Mondays. My weekends tend to be less regimented than Monday-Friday, so I wanted to track on the day with the potential "highest" weight of the week. Post-weekend is definitely that day!

Deleting comment. I'm going to step away from this conversation because it has devolved so far from the original post! I keep coming back here which is nice but ultimately not why I'm using MFP. Oops! Congrats to OP and the other keto folks for losing weight. Congrats to the folks that didn't use keto and lost weight.…

Right but people are using the term to mean "CICO + eatting whatever I want within my caloric defining limit" and that's how I'm using it, as well. Whether it's CICO + keto or CICO + Weight Watchers or CICO without an elimination diet attached.
-
I agree with you completely! I also agree that individuals should be able to feel successful if they used keto or Weight Watchers or CICO or were never actually overweight and just always kinda sorta healthy-ish. I appreciate what you're saying, but there's also a big long rant about how people who use keto or other things…

I apologize for putting words in your mouth. This entire thread is filled with people saying "BUT I'M NOT KETO" as if it matters, or worse "Keto is a CULT and a DIRTY LIE." (hyperbole mine, of course) Here's the thing, I'm not keto. I don't care about eating keto. I've seen keto get results, and I agree with you that it…

But if jleg said she doesn't feel hangry, she is satisfied. You mentioned being able to eat satisfying foods. There is not one moment while I am on Whole 30 that I feel unsatisfied. I am certain there are some people who do. There are also people who feel unsatisfied eating smaller portions but being able to eat whatever…

I don't track my exercise here; however, my job does result in 15,000-20,000 steps per day. Again, I don't count that as exercise nor would I track it, but when I need to factor my intake, my job partnered with my daily walks around the city I do for myself each day, makes me "lightly active" and not "non-active."

I had a ton of success on Whole 30 and think it is a great way to get yourself making food with non-processed foods. Definitely get seltzer water if you want that carbonation. My beau and I go through a few 12-packs a week of it! W30 worked well for me- and honestly, with only minor adjustments for 2ish meals a week, my…

LOL cult. You're being a tad hyperbolic. I AGREE with you that CICO works. You're right. However, people that struggle with food struggle with portions, understanding what a calorie is, understanding what to eat, think, buy, many struggle with cooking and haven't properly cooked a meal in ages (microwave life). If a…

I just googled it- Technically by 1 pound? But so long as I am eating well (1200-1350 is my daily intake BUT I also packed down 900 kcalories of wings ~alone~ yesterday!!) I'm happy to get back to where I used to be. It is true I've got a history of ED behaviors, but when I was sick, I was at 110... as long as I don't know…

I think what is nice about keto, whole 30, paleo, vegetarianism, veganism, pescatarianism, etc... is you get a built in community to support you, and for many of these diets, you see results so quickly. It becomes inspiring. While part of it very well may be caloric restriction, there is something to be said for people…

I'm 5'10" and currently 141. My end goal is 128, but my next "mini-goal" is 135. The hope is to hit 135 by Thanksgiving.

Are you cutting out all sugars (including sugar from fruit)? I recently completed a sugar fast (no fruit) and currently am living sugar-free (ie. everything except fruit). If you need motivation, let me know. I am on day 30 of no-sugar-anything. Best of luck to you!

Hey everyone, I'd love more friends on MFP! I'm 27 and currently on the Whole 30, probably going to eat paleo or something after I wrap this up (five more days)! I'm tall (5'11") and on my way to a "low" BMI. Definitely add me! I love having a really active friends group on MFP!

Check out /r/1200isplenty You'll see a ton of examples of a 1200 calorie day.

So true! I eat low calorie because I don't have a routine with exercise. It's the only reason. I'd definitely eat more if I incorporated routine exercise (which is a better way to go about weight loss, I believe.)

There is no such thing as naturally thin, just people that have a tendency to eat less than others. You are in complete control of your actions, and you can absolutely change them. You don't need to go on a starvation diet or crash course diet, at all. Actually, it won't work long-term, most likely. Figure out what you…

I definitely want to be skinny, yeah. Pick yourself up, though. My weight went down drastically when I was disordered, and I do not want to get back to that again (severely underweight). My weight went up through years of trying to overcompensate for my disordered past. Personally, my goal weight is at the low point of…

Good on you keeping yourself steady with two days of no binges. I hope you've have many more at this point. It's so wild when such an exciting monumental life change can bring about some major stressors. I hope you're doing well in self-care and your husband is helpful when you need support. Best of luck! Go you!!

Hey Tasha, MFP bases that stuff off your current weight and how much you plan to lose. I highly suggest if you are new to this, start with a 1 to 1.5 /lb a week weight loss. Probably 1300-1500 calories. Cut out all liquids except water and tea for the first two weeks. Focus on getting a feel for cooking healthy meals and…
