  • I'm guessing that she is calling it "hate" because criticisms of the product are bad for business. Isn't the "coach's" job to shill this crap?
  • Will do! Thank you. I am very sore today (feels like a side stitch that won't go away), so I'll be educating myself to prevent this from happening again.
  • Thank you for sharing your story! Very inspiring!
  • Awesome!
  • I actually have a trainer but her expectations might be a bit out of line with my capabilities. I need to take more responsibility for my training plan. I purchased the Strong Curves book as well as New Rules of Lifting; I'll read them this weekend and revamp my plan. Thank you!
  • My warm-up is 20 minutes on the elliptical. I've not been doing warm-up sets, but rather starting with the weight I finished with the session prior, then adding 10 lbs for my last set. I'll definitely look into incorporating warm-up sets. Yes, I do free weight leg exercises - last time it was goblet squats and lunges…
  • Thanks @ShootingStar72! It's not severe enough to warrant a trip to the doctor, but uncomfortable enough to warrant future attempts at preventing it. I appreciate the input!
  • @fit4life_73 - Are you running on the treadmill or outside? I remember you were trying to transition...not sure if this difficulty is related to that as well?
  • I don't know what a "lifestyle coach" is exactly, but the name implies that answering, not asking, this question should be your type of gig. Right?
  • I am sticking with my plan to alternate 10K training apps. Yesterday was a rest day (did elliptical); today was W1/D2 of the Active Network trainer. It consisted of a 10 min jog, 3 min tempo run, then 10 min jog. It sounded easy, but for a running newbie, it was difficult to go from the harder tempo pace back to a jog! I…
  • The Zen Labs app is identical to the Bluefin program...thanks for the link. I ordered a couple of the books you recommended :) @debubbie - I sent you a friend request!

  • I downloaded 2 different apps/programs for the 10K trainer - one by Zen Labs, and one by Active Network. They are very different...it sounds like you're describing the Zen Labs one. Thanks for this resource; I'll definitely check it out!

  • I've never run an actual race before, so I signed up for some 5Ks in August, then some 10Ks in Sept/Oct, and a half-marathon in late November. I've pretty much lost my mind :) What program are you using?

  • Not *every* gym. That NPR podcast that was posted earlier in the thread included a gym that kicks people out if they don't come frequently enough. It was geared towards people very serious about fitness and cost around $500/month.

  • OK - will look into these alternatives. Thanks for the input!!
  • I am learning to squat from a book and my trainer, but the only option at the gym is a Smith machine (no squat racks). Is it really such a horrible thing? No one ever seems to have anything good to say about them...makes me nervous.
  • I just finished C25K...you might want to look into this group for other folks doing it right now. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k
  • What is PF's rationale behind banning deadlifts?
  • Sorry about your ankle @maggiekat7...and your forest fire :( @fit4life_73 - what made running outside more difficult? Was it the outdoor temp or was there a difference in effort required? I haven't used a treadmill....I think part of why I've taken to running these past few months is that running outdoors also serves some…
  • Hi recent C25K grads!! I finished C25K last week and started my 10K trainer today. I posted in the other thread so won't repeat here, but just wanted to say hello! I'm looking forward to having folks to touch base with who are also working this training program :)
  • Nice to see you again, @fit4life_73 and @eyethree! I finished C25K last week and started my 10K trainer today. I started out using the 5K to 10K app from active.com, but I'm not sure how much I like it. It eventually uses varying running speed intervals, which I think will help, but the overall running time is pretty low…
  • I recorded my weight on the spreadsheet, but will post here too :) MFP Start: 191lbs (3/15) CW: 157.4 Challenge GW: 142 UGW: 120-130 range
  • Hi everyone! I started out at 191 lbs (5'3", 39 yo) in March 2015, but am down to 157 as of today (GW 120-130). No great mystery as to how I got fat - eating too many calories (especially fast food) and not exercising. Since starting MFP, I've changed my lifestyle significantly. I now prepare nearly all my meals at home…

  • I finished Week 8/Day 3 this morning....30 minute run without stopping! I covered 3.5 miles including the 5 minute warm up and cool down. Since I'm doing the Zen Labs version of C25K, this means I've officially graduated!!! Hooray!!! Sunday is a rest day, then I'll be starting the 10K trainer on Monday. I've already signed…
  • I did Week 8/Day 2 this morning....almost done with C25K and feeling great!!!! I can't believe how much I enjoy running now!
  • Congrats! It is exciting! And if you killed W5/D2, then you've got D3...no problem :)

  • Week 8/Day 1 done this morning. I didn't sleep very well last night, so this one was a bit of a struggle. No pain or breathing issues, basically just felt like the Earth's gravitational pull increased overnight...LOL! Anyway, it's done and tomorrow is a rest day. Happy Tuesday to all!!!!
