  • Just saw this on my Facebook feed...relevant to our recent discussions: http://www.runnersworld.com/running-tips/10-signs-that-you-need-a-rest-day?cid=socTP_20150629_48220556&adbid=10152880205971987&adbpl=fb&adbpr=9815486986
  • Week 7/Day 3 done!! I had to run through some sprinklers to get it done, but I did it! Seriously though, what kind of public park runs their sprinklers at 6am when the joggers are out?!?!
  • Wonderful!! Great time!!
  • Hooray - I bet that feels good!! I'm finishing my week 7 tomorrow and am weirdly excited about it :) Rest days are a challenge (something I never thought I'd say). We adopted a kitten from the shelter yesterday so I've been entertained all day watching my 2 year old basset hound follow her around the house, trying to sniff…
  • My weekly fitness routine is still a work in progress, but right now I'm jogging first thing in the morning 5 times/week. The other 2 mornings (Wed, Sun) I do the elliptical for cross training (Wed) or "Gentle Hatha" yoga (Sunday, my "rest day"). In the evening, I lift weights with a trainer 2 nights/week and go to a…
  • Week 7/Day 2 done! I was slow but steady...a pretty smooth run without any mental "drama" :) Happy Saturday to all!!!!
  • @krichard08 - did you download the 10K training app yet? I *might* have....LOL!!!
  • Week 7/Day 1 done! Including the 5 minute warm-up, 25 minute run, and 5 minute cool-down, I covered 3 miles. So feeling a little bit better about my 5K on 8/1 :)
  • As you learned during your 24 hour fast, you don't respond well to food deprivation. So your response to the post-deprivation binge is to go back into deprivation mode? Sorry, I'm not following your logic. You seem to be asking for another binge.....
  • Great job! Keep it up!!!
  • I still have over 35lbs to lose, so I'd love to join as well!
  • Week 6/Day 3 DONE!!! I'm not going to say that it was easy, but it was certainly easier than I expected. It really is a matter of overcoming your mind....my body is definitely strong enough. It's my thoughts that say, "Hey...maybe you should stop and walk for a bit....catch your breath...." Does anyone else find themselves…
  • Holy crappola....I was looking at the Cool Running website and just realized that there's no more intervals for me...nothing but "long runs" for the remainder of my C25K experience. Feeling a little....nervous :/
  • Did Week 6/Day 2 this morning :) Tomorrow is a rest day, so looking forward to W6D3 on Thursday! My first 5K is on 8/1 and I'm already getting a little nervous about it. But I'm feeling much stronger that last month, so still lots of time for improvement. Happy Tuesday everyone :)
  • Did Week 6/Day 1 this a.m.....sooo hot already at 5:45am but otherwise a good run :)

  • I've read that people who are brand new to exercise/lifting and with a fair amount of fat to lose can build some muscle in a caloric deficit, but I don't have specific studies to cite. ETA: Agree w/what Ninkyou said :)
  • Ironmaiden - Thanks for the input! Funker140 - I have a Fitbit Charge HR, so I go by the calorie burn calculated by it for any cardio. When I lift (with some interspersed cardio bursts), I just log 150 cals burned since there's no great way to calculate that burn.
  • Sorry - I should have added that I've been doing a calorie deficit for about 3 months. I'm down a little over 30 lbs from where I started. I'm 5'3", 39 yo female who is currently at 160 lbs. Like most my size, MFP has me at 1200 cal/day but I'm usually at 1400-1600 once I eat back around 50% of exercise calories. As one…
  • I'm 5'3" with a goal weight of 120. I started at 191 but have been on here for almost 100 days and am now down to 159-160. I'm on here every day, so feel free to "friend" me :)
  • Week 5/Day 3 done!!!! I had no idea I could run for 20 minutes without stopping!!! Crazy. It really does all come down to mind over matter. As long as I cleared my mind and focused on my music and the scenery, it was far more do-able! Great way to start the weekend!!
  • Hey @kramrn77 - are you talking about Insane Inflatable in Victoria, TX, on 11/21? If so, a friend and I are signed up for that one :) Looks like fun!
  • I'm nearing 100 days in a row on here....I still have 40 lbs to lose so I'll be here for a good while :) Feel free to add me!
  • Sugar Land :)
  • Congrats to @KRPolo on your "graduation"! What a wonderful accomplishment! I just finished week 5/day 2.....already nervous about the 20 minute run coming up on day 3. Yikes!
  • Best of luck with your health and fitness goals :) [edited by MFP Mods]
  • I also mix in some banana and/or PB2 with my chocolate or vanilla protein powder. I'm pretty sure I stole that idea from someone in these forums....
  • I make my protein shake with coffee instead of water :) For a little pre-workout pick-me-up....
