Here's my latest comparison pics. I can't believe how different I look now!

Why are my hands always cold? They never used to be when I was heavy. Oh well, it's a small price to pay for being healthier. Maybe the summers will be more tolerable now.

This is my latest comparison pic. All through counting calories and running. Thank you, MyFitnessPal!

The first pic was of me before I started this weight loss journey and the second pic was taken a couple of months ago. I started running because I needed to lose weight and I was diabetic, on Metformin and the doctor wanted to put me on a second drug that was linked with causing liver problems. In December 2014 my A1C was…

If it works for you then I guess that's ok for you. But are you going to be able to cut those things out forever? That's why I refuse to cut anything. This isn't just a diet. It's a lifestyle change. I could never cut those things out forever.

I've lost 35 lbs. I also run and work out. I have more energy and more confidence. I also got off the diabetes drug, Metformin a year ago. My sugar is under tight control at the moment. My only regret is I didn't do this years ago. Better late than never.

Here's the perfect response!

I went down from size38 pants to 32 and lost 35 lbs through running. And obviously counting calories. I was also able to get off the diabetes drug, Metformin. And my blood sugar is well under control now. Running has played a big part in all this.

This. And peanut butter!

Congrats! You look amazing!

That last 1 lb always seems to be the hardest. I'm waiting to drop one more pound and then I'll be in maintenance. Congrats on your loss!
-
I'm sorry you've been going through all this. I know exercise is great for de-stressing. And you're doing the right thing for yourself and for your health. Congrats and keep up the great work!
-
Thank you! And don't worry I have no intention of stopping! In fact I'm stepping things up a gear. I'm doing more with weight lifting now. I understand muscle is supposed to help the body absorb glucose better. Thanks everyone! :D

Thanks! Yep, it has been a great year. I'm going to make sure every year is as good health wise!
-
Today is my one year anniversary on MFP. 35 lbs down in the past year and in two weeks I'll be off the diabetes medication, Metformin, for a whole year. April is a pretty big month for me!

Wow! You look amazing! What a transformation!
-
Wow! You look incredible! And you look nowhere near 50!

That moment when you look in the mirror and see your face as it used to be, liking seeing an old friend. Not the imposter who took up residence for the past 20 years!
-
That moment when you realize how much you enjoy your new healthy lifestyle and know there is no way you're ever going back to your old self.

This. As a diabetic who has my disease under control I'm not going to do anything to risk going backwards. I'll happily throw unwanted food in the bin. As far as free food goes, it's not my responsibility to worry about if it gets wasted or not. If I have calories to spare and I fancy something then I'll indulge a little.…

One year in the making!

A year in the making. Sorry the pics are so big!

I'm a pound away from my goal weight. It has taken me almost a year to get here. I suppose I could switch to maintenance mode now. But I'm stubborn. I want to see that final pound gone before I make the switch! Then when I start to maintain I want that number to be the high end of the five pound range I want to maintain at.

Don't obsess about the scale. When the scale isn't moving it can be demoralizing but often other things are going on. Pay attention to how your clothes are fitting. How you look. How you feel. Look for NSV's (non-scale victories). There's a whole thread about those in the Success Stories forum. This will help you stay on…

One word. Confidence. A year ago if someone had offered me a pill that would make me invisible when out in public, I would have taken it. Now I want to be seen. I've only been on this journey for barely a year yet the changes I've gone through have been amazing. From getting off diabetes meds to dropping from size 40 pants…

I have many films I can watch over and over. I don't know if they would all be classed as cheesy but these are my go-to faves. Police Academy. Gremlins Ghostbusters Airplane Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Groundhog Day Jurassic Park Jaws Star Wars (the original trilogy) Back to the Future And…

I recently started drinking Twining's green tea and lemon. I drink it almost every day now. Incidentally I used to work for Twinings. Years ago.
-
I just have one more pound to lose to hit maintenance! I also need to get back to running regularly again. I've been getting slack on that lately. I try to do some kind of exercise every day though, even if it's just walking.

When I was young and skinny I would eat whatever I wanted. Because I could. I would demolish a whole pack of biscuits. Or a 99g bar of Cadburys chocolate. When I started gaining weight I just didn't stop eating like this. I couldn't imagine doing any of those things now.

It's nice to see but no two days are ever going to be the same. So I just take it with a pinch of salt.
