Don't go by percentages, actually do the math and figure out grams. That's my biggest pet peeve with MFP, they go by percentages unless you pay more for their premium option. I've started tracking my food on a different (free) site because of this, that allows me to track specific macros grams.

Nope, you're wrong, Meal timing is a preference thing and nothing else. I break my daily fast between 11am-noon with my biggest meal of the day. I don't eat before then usually. I've had no problems maintaining my almost 60lb weight loss for two years now, not eating in the morning. As for eating in the morning somehow…

I'm still in the learning stages for macros but from everything I've read so far, and also from the responses I got from my own post about macros a few days ago, from people who are way more knowledgeable than I am, this is what you should be aiming for Protein: 0.60-0.82 g per 1 lb. bodyweight Dietary fat: 0.40-0.45 g per…

The harm is that you're sacrificing getting in a proper amount of fat, at the expense of a higher protein number which is most likely not doing anything beneficial for you.

Weight loss comes down to calories, math and eating at a deficit. Simple as that. You can continue to eat All the foods you enjoy, you just need to learn how to fit them into your calorie goals. Portion sizes play a big part in this. I've lost almost 60lbs, I've been maintaining the loss successfully for over two years…

Pretty much this :p

Yikes, your fat intake is really low :o

Sigh.... just No.

MFP does not separate naturally occurring sugars from added sugar. Fruit has quite a bit of naturally occuring sugar, so that's where your number is coming from. Nothing wrong with naturally occuring OR added sugar in moderation-many of us don't track sugar since we're already tracking carbs. You can go into your settings…

Weight loss is as simple as calories, math and eating at a calorie deficit. You can continue to eat all the foods you enjoy, including candy, you just need to learn how to fit them into your calorie goals :)

I lost my extra weight with NO exercise at all. If you've been factoring in exercise into your calorie allotment, then you need to re-run your info and adjust your calorie deficit accordingly.

Yep-I did alternate day IF and I had 6 months of bounces and whooshes. It's how the plan works :) But I'm talking about on the scale-not the cartoon in the OP lol.
-
No. Welcome aboard OP :) I did alternate day IF for my weight loss phase, 5:2IF as my transition plan from weight loss to maintenance and I now do 16:8IF as part of my maintenance plan. Love IF and I'll most likely do it in some form for the rest of my life. There's quite a few IF'ers here, most do 16:8IF though there's a…

Nope.

There is some interesting research out there about fasting, but yeah-pretty preliminary stuff. I did alternate day IF for my weight loss phase but even on my 'fasting' days I still ate between 300-500 calories a day.

Um because a lot of us enjoy eating food that come from a store or a restaurant? I'm not understanding what the question is here :p And no, just because something is made in someone's kitchen does not magically make it 'better' than something bought at a store or a restaurant. Also that doesn't even make sense-where are…

No. No. Noooooo.

This.

Meal timing is a preference thing and nothing more. I prefer one large meal, one smaller meal and one snack a day.
-
I'm not who you quoted but I also follow that meal timing format, though I do have one snack a day. Here's yesterday for me: Broke my daily fast at 12:30pm- 8 ounces wild caught salmon with 1tbsp olive oil, spices and lemon juice 151 grams asparagus, with vinegar serving of cottage cheese 10 cherries 2pm- Nature Valley…

Yep yep :)

Nope. Similarly I'm doing one of Nerd Fitness's body-weight strength training circuits for my summer routine and I really enjoy it, but I disagree with his paleo leaning nutrition advice. So I skip that part and just use his exercise programs :)

Fed Up=Epic Fail. Lots of threads already going about this train wreck of a 'documentary'-search option is towards the top.

This-I do a LOT of baking and I have hundreds of recipes that I've printed off from online recipe sites. They all use measuring cups/spoons for measuring, I've never seen a recipe that goes by weight for an ingredient.

I have two daughters and it's a non-issue, just like having a bathroom scale out in the open is a non-issue :) My oldest daughter has asked why I weigh my food and it was a great discussion-I showed her how nutritional labels work, how food has servings sizes etc. It was actually a pretty neat life lesson moment :)

Numbers will vary based on activity levels, amount needed to lose etc. Dr. Johnson actually has a calculator on his website that you can get your individual numbers worked out :) My mom wanted to do alternate day IF after seeing how well it worked for me, and she finally was ready to get started recently. I ran her numbers…

Definitely gets easier. The first two weeks were rough as I got used to the routine, but then after that it was pretty easy going. I also had never tried losing weight before, so this whole thing was a new world for me :p While I did alternate day IF I was still eating 3 meals a day/couple snacks on my regular days. On my…
-
You'd think it would work like that, but it actually doesn't for some reason. I hung out at a alternate day IF forum during my active weight loss phase and it was a common complaint that people were having a hard time hitting their maintenance calories on their regular days (which is really important to do). I have no idea…

There's a couple local places we go to once in a while that doesn't have nutritional info available and I do like you do-stick to simple dishes that I can estimate pretty accurately. We went out to a local mom n pop place for breakfast on Memorial Day and I got two eggs and bacon-played it safe there lol.
